So what do we need to do to get Olivier Archambault adopted by the Gallagher family? A couple of years living with the strength and conditioning coach might be what the kid needs. He might also learn to express himself with more clarity and enthusiasm, he seems a little frowny and nervous compared to how Brendan was at the last camp.

He didn’t do well with the Val D’or Foreurs (It happens, some guys don’t work on some teams/environments) I’m interested to see how he does in Drummondville with Couturier.

I know, based on what I read I may be ascribing some negatives to Mr. Archambault, but he seems downcast a little bit, eyes looking at the floor, mangling his words, not great body language. It’s not a good sign that he didn’t fit in well with his team in Val D’Or. The background on him is completely different than what was written about and what I learned about Brendan Gallagher. We can hope that contact with professionals will help him improve.
I’m not sure if he’ll get a chance to play with Sean Couturier, the Antichambre gang was saying he and Jonathan Huberdeau have a good chance of sticking in the NHL.

L’Antichambre also has Beaulieu as a D-Man for the Habs this season, pumping the QMJHL a bit there.
For the Flyers, it makes no sense to bring up Couturier as they still enjoy the depth to let him develop. As for Huberdeau, they’ve already signed a boatload of roster players in FLA this year and they don’t even have Huberdeau signed to a pro contract yet either. Best thing for those guys is to go back to the juniors and kick ass.

You haters will never be happy, honestly! We had one line of regulars on offence and two defensive regulars. The rest were a bunch of rookies and AHL regulars. Price looked fine, I just saw the highlights to all the goals. Two he had no chance on…period! Chirp, chirp chirp you little birdies!

The games don’t count towards the standings but there are still many stories to be told.
Like that Beaulieu and Gallagher are future NHLers.
Or that Palushaj and Trotter are not there and may never get there either.
Or that IMHHO the Habs have much work to do to become a scoring threat in the NHL or that Price is not up to game shape mentally yet.
These are observations and that is why the team plays the pre-season. It’s for making assessments.

Where do I throw Price under the bus? Price’s puck tracking was crap and he was lax with the passes. They are observations and they are accurate ones.
I am also nowhere near convinced that the Habs will crack the top 15 in scoring this season. I hope they do. Apart from PK, Cammy and Patches I don’t see much else to be excited about in the scoring department yet.
As for the last goal. Lax play by Plex (which was his theme all night) and an even more lackadaisical line change by him and Cammy led to the loss.

sure its easy to say as a casual viewer, but my god his team played as they should in front of him and the shot total supports this, as does the name credited towards the only goals scored for the team
Alright I spent two periods in the corner right next to Price and as someone with the perspective of having played nets for years I can confidently say that his puck tracking was fine. He suffered from D that made quite a few little mistakes behind his net. He was quite sharp and in fact the one area where I’d give him above average rating would be his puck tracking. He made a few particularly good reads that elicited “wow I can’t believe he followed that” reactions.
@thirdstone: I’ll admit I was in the Whites but from up there even my friend said the same thing. Price lost sight of the puck on numerous occasions. I was also at the game on Monday and on 3 goals he had no clue where the puck was.
However. What you’re saying is also true. Meaning the times that Price had his eye on the puck he made some remarkable saves. I still see an area for improvement and that is why the pre-season games are played.

Fair enough. Though people do lose sight of the fact that these games are tuneups and tryouts. They’re primary purpose is to increase revenue. Winning is not particularly important to management at this point.

Hey, they’re your observations. Though I’ll hesitate from condemning Palushaj and Trotter to the eternal minors or elevating Beaulieu and Gallagher to full NHL status until they’ve all played a reasonable number of real NHL games beside real NHL line mates and against real NHL players. Just my take.

It is, Freddy, the pre-season.
Price made some good saves but lost the puck often, meaning his puck tracking was poor, and I found that he was nonchalant with his puck handling.
My perception is still that the Habs lack offensive creativity. They’re back to hoping for the long bomb or PP goals.

Price is getting into his rhythms. Same thing happened at last camp and he tied for the league lead in wins by the end of the year.
Habs lack having any real centre depth in the games they’ve played, killing puck distribution from the middle and typically they’ve been short their Puck-moving Ds as well, killing the long outlet pass and blue-line attacks.

Too bad, cause I was really starting to think that we might actually be able to do well this season. But the Pre-Season has really shown me that our team simply cannot compete with other NHL teams. I mean PK didnt even have a shot on net tonight………. Gomez was invisible, and Gorges wasnt looking all that solid. Im really starting to worry here.
