Mikhail Grabovski has dramatically enhanced his chances of playing regularly – in Russia next season.
Disappointed by being left out of the lineup in Phoenix last night, Grabovski traveled to Los Angeles alone – ahead of the team flight – to meet Gary Greestin, his agent.
The disgruntled player and Greestin met with Canadiens coach Guy Carbonneau and general manager Bob Gainey.
No disciplinary action has been taken against Grabovski – for now. But he will not dress against the Kings today.
Just when we thought Canadiens could get through the season without an in-house soap opera …
Wasn’t it around this time last year the explosive Alex Kovalev interview appeared in a Russian magazine?
The difference: Kovalev is a superstar. And many of the points he made in the interview he claimed he never gave were bang-on, particularly as pertained to Carbo’s hermetic, talent-stifling style of 2006-’07.
Grabovski, on the other hand, is an undersized speedster who has played in all of 19 NHL games. He was recalled from Hamilton on Feb. 26, probably to become part of the Marian Hossa trade that never happened.
I think Grabovski will pull a Perezhogin – and Gainey will tell him not to let the door knock him off the puck on his way out.
