The imitation Islanders fell hopelessly behind and played Fred Shero … uh, I mean Don Cherry …. no, Brian Burke hockey.
They tried to goon Lars Eller, and the kid responded by playing like his short Nordic hair was on fire..
Very encouraging … but does Jacques Martin move him back to wing to play Top Six with the superb-to-date Tomas Plekanec –if Mike Cammalleri is suspended for the season opener in … gulp! …. Toronto?
Hard to imagine Cammalleri will escape sanction.
After absorbing what looked like a clean check by Islanders’ first-round draft choice Nino Niederreiter, Camallarri hunted the kid down like a dog and felled him with a Bobby Clarkesque two-hander.
It was the only negative note to a game the Canadiens dominated from wire-to-wire.
How bad was the team in Islanders jerseys?
They had to dress Dean McCammond and Jed Ortmeyer as freelancers to sneak up to the NHL minimum of nine players with league experience.
AK46, Benoit Pouliot, Tom Pyatt and Jeff Halpern played their best games of the pre-season.
Subban was otherwordly. Hal Gill and Josh Gorges were merely excellent.
Price? Impossible to evaluate accurately against a lineup like that.

Not much interest in this game. Loooking forward to seeing if Eller can make a difference with third line players.
They Call Me Shane
the addition of pk will help but after him it is the same d that had real problems all last year clearing the puck out of our zone and giving up way too many scoring chances…if they play like most nights last year even above average goaltending is not enough it may have to be great…the forwards also have to be way stronger on the puck in our zone..
Are we talkin’ SK74 short?

yep and Boone has him on a very short leash
- In Price We Trust
Personally I think Eller should play with G-Love and the Captain (yea I know they aren’t playing tonight) and put Pouilot with Boyd and Moen but I’m not the coach.
I said RW but meant LW.
- In Price We Trust
I think they’ll try him at centre again, but he may be on the wing with Boyd at centre.
Did Timo get reinstated?
Here’s a new commercial with Cammi for the NHL. I personally LOVED it!
“Quesions will become answers!”
Is Eller centring that line or playing RW?
- In Price We Trust
Timo’s first game back, and Boone’s not blogging it…

Note the new digs! but yeah I’m still on Twitter!
Don’t forget who got him to the conference finals
Sure Chuck, we’ll go with that.
Nah… it’s called “anticipation”.
Pouliot needed to bury that to get going I think, see what it becomes on opening night.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.

Benny’s back!
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Well look who scored.
Benny needed that!
LOL at Pouliot scoring a goal because he was slow coming out of the zone.
Nice moves by the top line! Cammy for the goal

Spent last Christmas in QC, for a week. Absolutely deserves a franchise.
You’re not high and slightly off-kilter?
I don’t care who’s on the ice, no one is stopping that play!!!! AK, well done.

Cammy rocks.
Unbelievable. What a goal.
Wow. So that’s what that line is going to do this season.
Nice goal
I am not like the angle of the camera.

Boone – I got an 80 pixel 12k photo the website won’t accept for whatever reason. Granted, you Hickey Stubbs Mio and my friend Danny are all in said photo. Collectively, maybe we’re all too good looking for the site to accept. (from the HIO meet this summer)
His trip to the conference finals begs to differ.
Any links for the match tonight?
All-Quebecois reffing tonight, if we can’t get the calls going our way tonight we know the NHL is officially crooked.

HECK YES!
But is there a spot left?
Cammalleri-Plekanec-AK46
Pouliot-Gomez-Gionta
Lapierre-Boyd-Eller
Halpern-Pyatt-Darche
I guess it’s between Darche and White?
We need White on this team
5 on 3
Lets score twice to show that you can”t just take a run at an Eller for no reason, go after White, he clearly wanted to go. Good job by him jumping in to defend too.
So they jump Eller off the face off, Ryan White tries to defend him and all the refs jump on White and leave Eller to get ragdolled.. nice.. hope someone whoops that guys ass

That is horseshit…the Toronto media sure knows how to use their influence don’t they? TSN does everyhting they can to feed any fires out of MOntreal….can;’t say I blame them but they should at least acknowledge and finally ame themselves the Toronto Sports Network because a slash like that has NEVER made headline story before…..it wasn’t that vicious the fact Cammi went Zorro on his ass…welll not the brigthest but noone and I mean noone is going to have a loght saber duel with Cammi any time soon….afraid of the dark side I am not.

It’s the top headline on NHL on Yahoo! Canada right now as well. It’s probably the biggest hockey story of the night. I’m not a big tsn fan, and I agree with a lot of your Toronto Sports Network comments, but i don’t think it’s unwarranted to have it as the lead story of the night.
Could be – Boyd might be fine.
RDS is calling the other Islanders “les vrais Islanders”
What does that make these guys?

They kept the wrong goalie, so maybe they’ll ship White out. But then again, they finally saw the light on LaGlue-esse – Le Grand Tortue.
I like it!
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Eller is just gonna keep improving. Imagine how he’s gonna play after he has more than 50 NHL games under his belt.
Since Lars is my little brother’s name, he could very easily become my favorite Hab (after Pleks).
mlb pennant races, ryder cup and a minor incident in a preseason hockey game is the leading story? if that is any other team it doesn;t get but a sidebar mention…..tomorrow.
Boyd has to clear waivers, White doesn’t. They’re keeping Boyd. Eller is the only other forward who can be sent down (besides Maxwell and the guys who are already down), and he’s not going anywhere. My guess is that they either keep White and send down Darche assuming no one will pick him up, or be forced to send down White. At this stage, I’d take White over Pyatt as well, but again, Pyatt has to clear waivers, so they’ll keep him on the team.
n00000000000ooooooooooo0000000 they are going to start a comeback now!!!!
Yeah, Canadians care more about preseason hockey than baseball or golf. I’m sure if a similar incident happened in the MLB/NBA/NFL preseason, ESPN wouldn’t be leading with hockey.
For what it’s worth, the main headline now is something about the Roughriders clinching a playoff spot.
Makes sense.

Cammi does take a lot of abuse. And let’s just think for a second about
what may have been going on. Sure the hit was a tap but it was a bit
from the blind side, and Cammi’s probably thinking – the season hasn’t
even started and some kid is just trying to prove a point. He should’ve
given him a dig right there and been done with it – but it kind of
dragged on and got the attention of the ref. Bad execution – but
nothing out of the ordinary for what goes on in a game.
Anyone who says “he should man up” – what does that mean exactly? And applying your scenario I’m not the biggest Crosby fan either, but i wouldn’t hold it against him if he was kind of pissed in a similar situation.
A man’s attitude… a man’s attitude goes some ways. The way his life will be. Is that somethin’ you agree with?
In my mind, his swipe at Neiderreiter’s face was the “dirtier” play. Sure, he swung harder on the two-hander to the leg, but the first bit of stickwork was the more dangerous play. So out of character, I can’t wrap my head around it. Against a player he’s never faced, and thus has no history with, no less.
so true, +1!
Brilliant! Combines Asian cooking with the porn industry.
didn’t Gionta dress against Buffalo? Wasn’t ‘the new captain 0-1′ the title of one of Boone’s posts?
edit – reread, and got your point. I’m not gonna get my knickers in a knot until March, and even then I think the Habs will be sitting pretty.
I would normally agree, but by NHL standards; he’s a star, so he gets leeway. He’s never been suspended before, so he gets the benifit of the doubt. Pretty much every other superstar who’s purpotrated WAY worse injury inducing plays the first suspension is 1 game. Ovechkin for example, regularly tries to kill people with hits from behind and rarely ever gets punished.
LOL, thanks Boone.

I agree totally, Andrew. I do think Cammy “deserves” a suspension, but in the NHL that means nothing if you’re a star (and sometimes nothing even if you aren’t in the seemingly random NHL justice system).

I agree that he deserves a suspension, a harsh one if I were impartial and in charge, however the Habs fan in me is hoping Colin Campbell sticks to his retardation of punishment and gives a fine.
We are gonna get so creamed on Thursday it won’t be funny.

Pouliot’s great game consisted of a setup that my grandma could have put in the net and the 2nd goal was really Eller off an Islander’s skate.

Yeah, better watch out for a team that needs to dress it’s full lineup to paste half-AHL squads. They have no scoring after their first line at all and their defence by the Loaf’s own press has only been adequte in pre-season action so far.

Great game? I will agree that he looked more alive then the corpse he has been, but certainly not Second Line worthy.
Let’s see how he contests against a real NHL team come the beginning of the season. I reserve ANY praise for this man till then. Hopefully by Oct 7th – the lazy will be gone, and the desire will have taken it’s place.

After seeing the incident with Cammi and that Swiss kid, I applied the Anti-Habs fan role reversal test to determine if Cammi was being a dirtbag or not. Pretend for a second and swap Cammalleri with Sidney Crosby and that Swiss kid with Ryan White: White throws the hit, Crosby responds with the stick.
98% of us on this site would be calling Crosby a cheap, sooky, dirty, whining baby.
This allows me to conclude that Cammi’s actions were out of line. It was barely a blindside hit, very gentle. Cammalleri needs to man up on that play.
I was thinking the same thing. Garbage from Cammy

he usually does, if you watch the games, you can see how much abuse this guy takes, I’ve seen much worse
The only way Cammy gets suspended is if Neeidetereis or whatever is injured which I don’t think he is. That’s the way the NHL works.
JT’s take on the Bulldogs game this afternoon in Grand Falls.
http://www.habsloyalist.blogspot.com/
Cammalleri the Stalker? Hard to believe, unless the female fans think of him more differently…
Opening night against Leafs? Better keep the good players in the press box so there won’t be any “accidents” that leads to indefinite injuries (e.g. Markov) Thanks goodness Cammalleri will be sitting pretty.
I wonder if the Islanders Brass decided to dress the team they to show their dislike to the NHL coming to Quebec, just to not give the people of Quebec City a good show…. very odd
—
Captain Gionta
I totally agree that Cammalleri was out of line and unprofessional, especially given the length of time between incidents. If he gets hit and immediately responds with the slash, it’s a little more understandable than the jawing back and forth, high stick, etc. THEN slash.
Is it the kind of reaction that Cammalleri should be above? Yes. Does it reflect poorly on him as a player and sportsman? Yes. Is it the kind of play that warrants a suspension? Based on Cammalleri’s stature, history, heavy punishment within the game? No (unless Neiderreiter is seriously hurt).
I agree… good thing our best D-man and best Offence will be out for the Toronto game… but lets hope they dont go for PK or someone else of value
—
Captain Gionta
It was most likely because its the end of training camp, so they wanted to get their full team (or most of it) into a game, unfortunately, they had two games scheduled on the same night, therefore the unusually crappy lineup in tonights game against the habs
Pretty weird game i must say, yea i didnt understand the play at the faceoff where the islander players went after Eller. As much as i like Cammalleri, that was a little low and definately out of character for him. I hope hes not suspended for the upcoming games…but we’ll see i guess. Plus, Eller was really good
since when are we so afraid to play against Toronto?
yes he did, so that makes him 0-1 in pre-season games? Pffft. doesnt count. This all may have been fun to watch but its meaningless other than fighting for roster spots. (and White still might not make the team).
______________________________________ Gionta IS Captain.
I think it’s because they don’t want to end up moving to Quebec and wanted the fans leaving thinking “Sure, I want a team. But not THAT team”. Much like Halak’s piss-poor performance in that game against the Oilers (where everyone on both sides sucked) last year when he was mentioned often in trade rumours to Edmonton. The “I’m going to be terrible so I don’t have to move here” plan.
Or it could just be that the Islanders don’t give a crap about this game and didn’t want to make their NHL players take the trip and felt having them play against a divison team would be more useful from a scouting/research/whatever perspective.
Im assuming they went after Eller in retaliation from the Cammy incident.. Im sure NY fans dont understand why Cammy spazzed out on that kid either..haha
——–
http://www.easports.com/media/play/video/24279250
My spinorama shootout goal with Cammy
yeah. Pleks and Kostitsyn weren’t on the ice. Gomez and Gionta weren’t dressed. If they’re going to go after a good player, it’s Eller or Pouliot, and Eller would be more unsuspecting and closer. Also, a little smaller I think.
So how many games for Cammy?
jp We are at the panthers practice rink almost every day (figure skating for our daughter) and sometimes I think we see the moving trucks in back getting ready to move the Panthers back north. They are ripe to move, which is too bad because we will have to drive to tampa to see the habs. Bring Huet back from Switzerland!
On the CBC tonight they referred to the Bozak – Kessel – Kulemin line as the “Big Three”.
Seriously.
Just got home and missed the game. In Cammy’s defence, is there any chance that something happened earlier in the game or off-camera that triggered it???
I can’t remember any long suspensions for slashing plays …
Full Breezer 4 Life
Just watched the interviews and all I can say is that Subban is ripped and stacked. He really hit the weights in the off season.
Cammy went off because he took exception to Neiderwhatever’s blindside and apparently they had already talked about the kid on the bench prior to the incident meaning that the youngster was already on the Habs hit list for playing dirty, so the story goes.
A little lesson to Neidersomethingorother.
Nino tried to get him on the blindside but missed. Cammy took offense, went after him, hit him and challenged him. They jostled more and more ’til that happened. As my brother said, “there’s nothing worse than an angry rookie in a terribly lumpsided preseason game”. When Cammy gets pissed, he gets pissed.
Never heard of player being suspended for a retaliatory slash though. Then again, the NHL is full of surprises.
CBC blows more smoke up Toronto’s butt than is generated by some of your larger forest fires.
Mcguire still takes the cake for that whole “Montreal had the Big Three, Toronto has their Big Four” at the start of last season. There isn’t one hack on that blue line fit to tape Robinson’s stick.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
To be fair, compared to the other 9, the “Big Three” isn’t much of a stretch
Good to see Pouliot have a great game, Eller looked ready to go as well. Don’t know why Cammi reacted the way he did, seems strange for him. What the heck is going on with Spacek?
Can’t wait until opening night!
Go Habs!
Since their openers seem to cause us to lose key players. Im not saying dont dress our best players.. im just saying that if they wont be in the lineup, its not necessarily a horrible thing
—
Captain Gionta
Healy, Milbury were saying on CBC that Cammy deserves at least 5-10 games for the slash.
McSorely.
Me neither, not to a calf anyway.
Now, a lamb….
Agreed, Cammi shouldna done what he did, but we all regret things once in a while. Doing it at the speed of a hockey game makes it harder to exercise proper judgement sometimes. This ain’t a chess match ya know….. .
He deserves something properly, let’s hope not too long.
A man’s attitude… a man’s attitude goes some ways. The way his life will be. Is that somethin’ you agree with?
Doubtful, Panthers averaged 15,000 fans a game last year, a lot more than several other teams. And they have good corporate support and own their brand new arena. A lot of other teams will be moving before the Cat’s. Get some facts before yopu post nonsense like this. I play hockey at incredible Ice, (the Panther’s practice arena when they can’t at the BAC) and I have no clue what you’re talking about.
i think that’s what cammalleri took exception to. maybe not a headshot, but the hit looked blindside to me. no call though.
so it was a blindside headshot by neiderrieter (sp?), the exact kind of play the league said they’re not putting up with anymore. No way cammalleri should get supplementary discipline.
You forgot Moen! White has been unbelievably good but there really isnt any room. Lots of 1 year deals though so I see him making the club next season.
Even worse…you’re missing Moen too
I’m all for dropping Pouliot or Eller for this guy…we need more grit like his
Woah sorry guys – We’re full then.
Strange – you seem to be speaking out of ignorance, even after I clearly explained the situation. Is it that you don’t want to understand because you don’t like me, or are incapable of understanding? You seem bright enough, so I’m guessing the former. Give it a rest, Chuck. Your animosity towards me (and Sholi’s, for that matter) extends from the Halak/Price debate. No, I quite fully understand what’s going on. You’re bitter about him sticking it to you the other day, and used a comment that he made as an opportunity to twist his words to take a jab back at him.
Clear as day, actually.
“Sticking it to me”…?
No, not that, Chuck. And again, way to miss the point. Please just admit it – you take it personally. You go out of your way to try and refure anything I say, no matter how innane. How about if you take a time-out, man up, and admit it?

Chuck, don’t waste your time on this guy,the quality posters like yourself shouldn’t have to resort to debating with this skid mark to the underpants of society. Not surprising to see such bigotry from a small minded fellow like you.

So he calls folks a name (ignorant), and for that you call him a bigot. But then you continue to call him a name (small-minded). Does that make you a bigot, too?
Just looking for some clarification here.
Clarification: The little bigot boy here crossed the line with me the other day. Starts throwing out my name derisively in conversations I was not even involved in. Saying I am the same as the beloved Tony. I’m sick of him and his childish posts. Clear enough for you? Or do you need to have it on DVD?

Actually, he was replying to a comment about the folks in the arena booing Carey being bored, and he called those people ignorant.
I think that you might need a timeout along with Cammy. You seem to be a little quick to temper.
It boggles the mind really, all I hear from Laff fans, the CBC and TSN is how great their defense is. I just don’t see it, Beauchemin, Komi, Schenn, Finger, Paneuf, they all suck big time as far as I’m concerned. But I guess Leaf fans have to have something to grasp on to.

What the Hell happened? He pissed Cammy off big time!
Wait what happened? Between Cammalleri and Niederreiter?
I call BS on that injury. Cammaleri hit him in the skate, and he grabbed his knee.
Oh, nevermind, Niederreiter was being a dick and MAN Cammy got pissed.
Cammy blew a gasket! What did that guy do to him?
Does something like that warrant a suspension for Cammie? Weird play for him to act out like that. Never nice to see someone get hurt.
That’s why he isn’t the captain…

guarantee it gets looked at for a possible suspension.
Hope they don’t suspend Cammy for the first game or two – just like Bettman to use this as an example, particularly since it’s a Canadian team.
missed how it started, but Cammi slashed him in the face, followed him for a few seconds giving him crosschecks, and then slashed the back of his leg.
Niederreiter got what he deserved.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
WAIT, Cammalleri started that.
Pretty gutless by Cammalleri. Never any need to swing a stick like that.
There’s a good chance he will.

Note the new digs! but yeah I’m still on Twitter!
Yeah.. thank goodness that the Habs would never have a player that would snap as their captain! *coughRichardcough*
Cammy’s a bit of a hot head – that’s the difference between him and Gionta.
Cammalleri getting a little hot under his collar in a pre-season game against Islanders B Squad, really, he better hope that doesn’t turn into a suspension for the opener.

My spinorama shootout goal with Cammy
Niederreiter must have really pissed of Cammalleri for him to act like that…wonder what happened
Doubt he’ll get suspended. Bettman only hands out suspensions when someone gets injured. Looked like a dive to me. I mean Cammy definitely swung his stick and connected but it wasn’t hard enough to hurt anyone.
And he MUST have done something to Cammy to piss him off like that. I’ve never seen Cammy so pissed.
I don’t agree with calling it gutless. Cammy probably gets slashed a thousand times a year. I think it’s OK for him to go postal – a message to others who want to give him cheap shots that he’s not above wrapping a stick around your ankle – or worse.
Yeah…but with all due respect to Richard, he shouldn’t be doing stuff like that. A captain should have respect for his and the opposition players. Should remain level headed for the most part. Dropping the gloves on occasion is fine, but Cammy crossed the like there. But you don’t want a discussion, do you Chuck?

So he might get a suspension for a couple of jabs with his stick …yet if you almost end someones career by mashing their brain its OK?
maybe Nino insulted his mother, or a deceased relative? Either way, NOT impressed with Cammi. Some Ogie Oglethorpe stickwork there.
I guess you’re entitled to disagree… but if you think it’s OK for a player to swing his stick at another player’s face, and then at his legs when he’s not looking, then I hope my kids never play against your kids.

Yes but the only difference is Matt Cooke is a special player they always get off .I think something must have been done to cause Cammy to react this way………….or he said something to Cammy to tick him off ,out of character for him for me he was provoked into doing this….I don’t agree with what he did but I have seen alot worse in my years {MANY} of watching hockey..We cannot afford to lose him for sure…………………GO HABS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very undisciplined play by Cammy…We all get pissed but when the cameras are rolling not good…
I think he is frustrated with his pre-season a little and it is coming out…Hope he is not gone long…
“Six more years…God Bless You Turtleneck Man!”
I don’t think it’s OK – and if it happened in kid’s hockey the player should be suspended for a year. But a big-time talent has to send a message now and then that he just might do some serious damage if you take liberties. The high stick wasn’t as rough as the slash.

Agreed…time for some to lose the Habs blinders. That was a dirty play, and there’s no room for that in the game. I’d be pissed if we lose Cammy for a couple of games, but he brought it on himself if it happens.

Sound like a tough game …maybe keep Price out of that one too.Don’t want to blow his gasket on the first game o year…
What happened? No access to the game.
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
B team? Im pretty sure this must be the Islanders C-Team, maybe even their F-teem.
______________________________________ Gionta IS Captain.

Milbury and Healy are gushing over Burkie on CBC. Saying how great a job he’s done and how the Laffs defense is top notch. Please excuse me, I have to go puke now.
Cammy was swapping stick jabs and nailed him on the back of the leg when he was not looking…See link below to watch the game…
http://www.atdhe.net/
“Six more years…God Bless You Turtleneck Man!”
Islanders player appeared to go fo Cammy’s head as he was attempting to drive Cammy into the boards – near the Isles blue line. Cammy threatened him with a shave and then gave him a whack on the ankle – but it wasn’t a two-hander with a big swing. Cammy got 5 min for high-sticking – and out for the rest of the game.
And in the NHL, it’s illegal to swing a stick at another player’s face. It typically warrants a long suspension, too. Therefore: dangerous and gutless.
Just so you’re aware, I can like Cammalleri but hate what he did. I can also like hockey, and like the hitting and clean physical play, but hate the dangerous, unnecessary stickwork.
I thought the new head of HNIC was going to fix the issue a bit, oh well… Another year of Hackey Night in Toranna with Xenophobic’s Corner coming up I guess.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
Yeah seriously. Cammy was having a good game against a crappy line-up in a game that means nothing. Niederreiter must have done or said something. I still don’t think he’s going to be suspended. The shot to face barely nicked him and the ankle shot wasn’t that hard. Niederreiter played it up a bit I think. At least I HOPE he doesn’t get suspended.
But a big-time talent has to send a message now and then that he just might do some serious damage if you take liberties.
You’re totally right Shiloh, but doing it against a 18 year old kid might not be a good idea.
I know there’s little you can do when you’re very angry – but you have to control yourself and consider the situation: It’s preseason, no need to get THAT mad. We’ve already lost Markov and Hamrlik due to injuries, we don’t want to lose Cammy for the first week of the regular season.
Thanks, I am watching it now at adhet, but of course commercials, tells me nothing. So Cammi is suspended for a game?
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
It’ll be intersting to hear what Cammy has to say about it. Something sure set him off. I wonder what it was?
You know what when Matt Cooke walked free for that hit on Savard, I don’t see how Cammi gets additional suspension. It’s ridiculous! His temper ran high and he got a 5 minute major and a game misconduct…I that’s punishment enough.
“It must be love!”
Against some rookie who won’t even play in the league this year? Lame on Cammalleri’s part.
My Investigations and Evidence teacher tells us we have a Legal System, not a Justice System in Canada, it is much the same in the NHL.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
Something had to have happened a little just before the camera picked up the play. To see cammy lose it like that in a meaningless pre-season game is definately out of character. The guy only had 22 PP minutes in both regular season and playoffs last year. I obviously don’t agree with what he did,but he isn’t a cheap shot artist. Something must have been said or done to start the whole thing.
If I were a betting man…I say he gets a one game suspension

Oh yeah. Replay shows that dude tried to take off Cammy’s head. Instead of taking it off he made him lose his head.
That’s it? Out of character and hit his ankle. Ankle job made Bobby Clarke a hero.No suspension.
Actually the Wings skated mostly their A team yesterday but the result was predictable, getting spanked by proper coaching a real NHL team while TOR had nearly all of their roster dressed.

All that passing, and no shot…
Hot chicks behind the bench. Looks like some of Montreal’s finest made the road trip.
O’byrne is severely hindering his chances on playing in the NHL this season.
I thought he was a lock to replace Markov at the beginning of the season, but now im not too sure..
I still have hope for O’Byrne. Not as much as last year, but I still do.
That ain’t Price, that’s the D, and some nice moves from the NYI.
Every goal that is scored in hockey has to be done by first getting by the defense …so in that reality it’s never the goalie’s fault? Price should of had that one ,heck I could of had that one!

Man, it’s weird to see people wearing Nordiques shirts cheering a Hab goal in their own building.
O’Bryne!
That PP setup is much better than the dman in the slot setup. It gives you one timers for both point men.
Potentially, yes. In reality, it’s Picard. He doesn’t do anything great, but he’s solid, and you don’t notice him too often. In a good way.
True.
Yes, that’s exactly what I meant. With Markov and Hamrlik out – who would you rather have in the line-up.
Is it ever, I’m getting mad just looking at them
They Call Me Shane
If O’byrne could pull his head out of his a$$, him for sure. But based on what I’ve seen so far in the preseason, Picard.
What’s wrong with Pouliot? He’s actually playing….well…? It’s a strange feeling.
gee I wonder if PK will make the squad this year? =)
missed the first how’d the boys do?
If we have two good shots from the point it makes sense. When we had MAB, and he was always going to be the guy to shoot, then maybe the middle was better – if he could get it off. I wonder if Martin would ever put a forward on the point.
Not really a competition, you can tell by the score too.
Hope the boys don’t slack, this is their last pre-season game before beginning the regular season Thursday.
The formation they were trying is supposed to give you 3 options for one timers with one guy at the top and two others set up at the top of either faceoff circle. I remember the wjc team using it and i think the bulldogs used it last year. You then have one guy at the top of the slot and another playing off the side of the net.
Just got home from todfays rugby game. What is the score?
good game for confidence building…we will need to score on thursday vs leafs as they have the type of forwards that for some reason gives our d real problems…price will face over30 shots like last years opener…
Beauty of a pass from AK to Pleky to Cammy for the first goal….Then Pouliot lucked out by staying in the zone way too late but Halpern made a nice play to keep it in, Pouliot scored. NY got a nice goal on Price. Overall theyre playing good against non NHL players. Oh and PK blasted one off Legace and in.

terrible play by laps, instead of going up the boards flips it up the middle and gets picked off and then takes a hooking penalty.

Man, Plekanec might hit the 80-points plateau this year.
That’s 8 points in 4 pre-season games for him.
It’s conceivable that Plekanec gets 100 points this season.
If we play the Islanders 40 times this year, maybe.
I hope so. In our 14 team office pool I got him in the 5th round.
They Call Me Shane
80 points is easily within his reach, he slowed down last season with huge PK time, this season with healthy linemates he’s cracking that 80-point range with change.

But… but… but… How can I live without live blogging? You people say it is only a preseason game, but all games are important! Besides it may be “only” preseason, but it is the LAST GAME of the preseason! This game will determine who makes the team. This is crucial because the wrong decision here could derail our march to a 25th Stanley Cup! Far from being unimporant, this is in fact perhaps the most imporant game of the year!!!! How can you ignore it? How can you leave us poor, starving Habs fans without our regular fix of Boone-blogging?

They’ve got drunk morons in QC as well. WTF is with the bronx cheer for Carey?

Haters.

RDS announcers think it’s because that was the islanders first shot of the period.
Brunet and Houde are suggesting they’re cheering the Isles first shot of the 2nd.
Pity cheers for the overmatched “Islanders”.
Sarcastic cheers?
LOL f*** Nordiques fans hahaha.
I don’t think its sarcastic, they cheered the same for earlier nice saves, and theres far too many people doing it for it to be hate on Price. My guess is they wanna show Price some appreciation, but haven’t been able to due to the lack of shots.

This is what hapens when you ice a bunch of career minor leaguers and are getting their asses handed to them.
That is cheap. Sending a goon on after a goal. During the pre-season. Get a life.
Darche is a bargain at his salary. He can be very useful over the course of a year. He never takes a shift off, he finishes his checks and he can score a few. He’s a true professional and it’s nice to see him get a few years in the show at this stage of his career.
