Did he win a Stanley Cup or is this gonna be his first?

  2. Exit716 says:

Gauthier was the guy that decided Janne Niiniimaa was worth trading Ribeiro for.

    Sergei Samsonov, Georges Laraque,…..

He’s the pro scout so what does that tell you?

  3. Xtrahabsfan says:

That there’s a real bee’s nest that could carry over to the Habs….I have always wondered how the Hell these athletes recover from very serious injury sooo fast?

  4. CHsam says:

Just because JM has coached over 1000 games, does that make him a winner ?

  5. CHsam says:

  6. 24 Cups says:

Earl – It’s too early to tell, but I figure that Subban will get the call.  Of course he has to earn it in training camp.  The other new Dman has to be a guy with size who can clear the front of the net.  If that happens then MAB may not be needed.

You also have to wonder if Carle or Weber will be around next year.  What the hell happened to all the good young defensive prospects that we had in our system such a short time ago?

Great to here from you again on H /IO.  I trust that all is well with you and yours.

BTW, I went out and golfed today.  For the first 10 holes I was on fire and played like Andrei Markov.  Then I blew a tire and played like crap – just like Samsonov:-)

  7. Hockey Socks says:

Anybody else hear about the steroid/performance-enhancing drug allegations against the Capitals?

  8. punkster says:

The CAT in shorts and flipflops? Just don’t give Boone the idea he can do the same. Not a pretty sight.

  9. Habadabadoo says:

  10. Mr.Hazard says:

I just KNOW, that if we ended up facing Buffalo, Miller would be killing us. Same with Brodeur in NJ. If it had been one of those two goalies in Game 1, we’d already be down 3-0 in the series.

  11. ebk says:

Bergeron is one of Gainey’s better FA signing, and was a huge plus for the team despite his limiatations. If he’s only considered half a player, then the roster is littered with many 1/4 and 1/10 players filling out the roster.

Ideally yo replace him but he’s palyed well and I’d have no problem with him back on the team.

  12. Ayan_SB says:

Drew Doughty talking trash to a Canucks player during the game, you could read his lips, he says:

“Keep yappin’ buddy, keep yappin’. I got all day. Come my way then, come my way then, I’ll F. hipcheck the S. out of you”

    Check it.

  13. Batalla says:

That pretty much sums it up! Already top shape + top-of-the-line therapy & monitoring + top facilities, etc.

    “love cannot drown truth, Nefertiti”

  16. Mr.Hazard says:

Eeeeexactly. Especially considering they scored 5 goals last game and 6 goals the game before.

    “love cannot drown truth, Nefertiti”

  17. Mr.Hazard says:

Yuck. Although, in general, I’d prefer get lots of hits from Buffalo than Philly… Most of Philly’s are late/using the stick/lower back/dirty/etc. lol…

    “love cannot drown truth, Nefertiti”

  18. Mr.Hazard says:

Yet Nagel’s steroid supplier admits he dealt with the Caps.

    “love cannot drown truth, Nefertiti”

  19. Ed says:

Boone talks about Philadelphia’s physicality, & how Montreal matches up better with Buffalo.

Pittsburgh leads with 163 hits in 4 games

Buffalo has 128 hits in 3 games

Philadelphia has 111 hits in 4 games

Montreal is last with 59 hits in 3 games

  20. HabFanSince72 says:

    NHL = bush leaqgue.

  21. 24 Cups says:

Chris & Dave – Pat Hickey told me  that Mike Boone shaves his legs.  I guess that must be a turn-on for Penelope Cruz.  Hey, whatever….

  22. The Kid says:

An optimistic look at the Habs’ situation

  23. 24 Cups says:

mb – Right now, at this point in time, there is no way that SK74 is a better hockey player than Metro (that’s just me being picky with your list).

I also think that another reason for Sergei (or any other forward ) sitting out is the MAB factor.  If O’Byrne plays, that means Bergeron wastes a spot up front.  Your 4th line is basically no line at all.  In light of that fact, I would just double shift some of the guys from the third line (onto the 4th) so that we can at least rotate four lines.

I really appreciate what Bergeron has done for us this year.  However, he can’t return next year.  We can’t afford to have a half player take up an entire roster spot for the entire season.

  24. mrhab says:

    Hey Boone

Really like the goal breakdown feature for the playoffs.  Its done quite well and no real favortism is shown

  26. king ddd says:

i dont know i always thought it was bryan murray who made the sens better( i guess i am wrong), i also heard that he made some bad trades for the ducks, besides brian burke built the team that won the cup, but  i dont know how he did with the Avs.

    .::moen for captain::.

  27. Batalla says:

Well he build the Nordiques/Avalance, Senators, and Ducks.  So we have to give the guy a chance.  The only thing is, it’ll take a miracle to rebuild this team now that we have some of the contracts we do.

  28. Chris Aung-Thwin says:

nuts to spring, brodeur, and the sabres. it’ll feel like +25C, or better, in the sun. i’m wearing shorts and flip flops. summer’s here. we’re playing the washington capitals tonight and we’re gonna win.

  29. Batalla says:

Well, I thought we matched well with the Capitals, more so than any other playoff team in the East, anyway.  But the fact of the matter is, that this is a sub-par team that barely squeaked into the playoffs.  And aside from the possibility of some hot play from some key guys, this is a team that will ride that rollercoaster of blah for the foreseeable future.

But, as a Habs fan I cling to hope.  However daunting it could possibly be.  We showed we can play them.  So here’s hoping for a good game.

And here’s hoping Ovechkin gets hurt:

  30. king ddd says:

after gainey resigned, i had high hopes for at least 10 mins that we were going to get a new GM, since we are the MTL candaiens, and our owners know their hockey i thought we were going to get a good gm. when i heard it was going to be PG. all  hope shattered. My point is i am afraid we might be going back to rejan houle’s era, especially with JM as coach. i don’t trust PG is the rigght guy for this job abd also there is  timmis picking players below 6 ft from NCAA and somewhere in uzbeskitan.and im worried for PK as well, Jm may not like his style of play and he might give the same treatment he gives SK.. so will we ruin anohter one of our prospect and see him flourish with another team?

    .::moen for captain::.

  31. notbigbird says:

It shows how badly off we are for toughness when we have to rely on only one guy, OB, to clear the net. He also seems to be the only one we can think of who could possibly go to the net.

  32. jbroderi says:

There is one game!! that is all the habs need worry about. WIN ONE GAME.. it will be tough, for sure.  But we can’t think about winning three of them. We just have to win one tonight!!!  We have the boys to do it..

  33. SeriousFan09 says:

Shea Weber in a Habs uniform… oh the dreams of we Habs fans grow mighty indeed. Don’t see the Cube being effective on a D-roster lacking size here though, he may be the strongest 5’8″ defencemen to ever play, but that doesn’t mean he’s an answer to our problems.

Sergei being sat out tonight is stupid, we need effective forwards out there. Looks more and more like we’ll be sending the K brothers away in the summer, for nothing, they’ll tear it up elsewhere and people will whine we didn’t give them a fair shake. What will we get back? Not much, enigmas and guys labeled as malcontents get you **** **** all in the trade market.

    - I shall always remember Captain Koivu.

  34. Bob Barker says:

I would say Lalime had a hand in the Sens underperforming in the playoffs. He was Cloutier-like in the postseason.

  35. jbroderi says:

I AGREE THAT ob SHOULD BE IN. We need someone to clear the front of the net, but we also have to get into varlomovs grill as well.

    Always carry a
flagon of whiskey in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small

    Speaking of
snakebite, I have to think that at some point in his coaching career Jacques
Martin suffered a bite that has caused him to somehow annually get his teams to
underachieve as the season progresses. All those years with very talented
Senators teams produced how many Stanley Cups? And now, albeit with a much less
skilled club, he seems destined to repeat. As we all know the Habs seemed to be
coasting to a fifth or sixth place finish with just a handful of games
remaining and on a streak. Then the JM venom kicked in and lo and behold they
back into the playoffs in eighth. As an example, you can go right back to the Buffalo
game – Habs leading 2-0 with a couple of minutes to go when they give up a
goal. Big Mo shifted, Buffalo would pull its goalie giving them a two skater
advantage over the penalized Habs. Does this situation call for a “Time Out”
maybe?!?!? Seems not; and you know the outcome. The Habs’ woes begin behind the
bench I am afraid – let’s hope the off season is a long way away, but unless it’s
delayed until about mid-June, the brain trust has to either make a coaching
move or provide JM with a much needed flagon of whiskey for next year!!

  38. Chris Aung-Thwin says:

that’s rough because tonight’s game is going to be a delight.

    yes, yes it will.

  39. Harani says:

Something I wanted to mention is that Markov has to play better. I
personally think that he is a better overall defenseman than Mike

And from what I have seen in this series so far, Green
has been horrible. But Markov, although he hasn’t been horrible, he
isn’t making the impact we need him to make. Maybe he’s injured, he
needs to be more engaged and be able to make stuff happen.

  40. forskis says:

I hope JM puts SK74 back in tonight…he plays well with Moore and Moen but it would be great if he took control of that line by saying to both Moen and Moore, “Get to the front of the net and I will get you the puck.”

  41. Habscore says:

I’m going to be missing the damn game tonight bcuz of work!! I won’t know what the score will be until 2 am tonight–What a torture!! Or maybe the torture would be to watch the game??!…:S

I’m pretty sure that in some cases they are used and I know in some cases in the States H.G.H. is used as well(Seen it on 60 minutes) as well when Doctor prescribed it’s legal plus there are other steroids (pregasone)spelling ? and what have you.

  43. Iceberg84 says:

Plus, 2 goals or less against washington is an accomplishment. I think that only happened 5 or 6 times this season. Even with a loss, letting them score 2 goals wouldn’t be bad for a goalie.

  44. mbplekfan says:

Have to agree with your assesment. I cant imagine what Sergei did to push himself behind Tom Pyatt, M Darche, Lapierre, and Metro on the depth chart.

Sergei has skills that these guys can only wish for.

Putting OB into the lineup is a positive development but only if you allow him to play physical and knock some heads if they bang into Price.  A tentative OB is no good, he has to be mean and aggressive to be effective.

  49. TripleX says:

SK is not better than Metro who is coming back after a long layoff due to a separated shoulder?  Wow dude!

  50. TripleX says:

The fact that the entire Pleks line is -4 for the series and MAB is -5 puts major holes in your arguement.

How many goals does MAB have to justify his errors?  I would have no complaint if the punishments were applied equally to every player.

  51. krob1000 says:

Can someone in the media please ask what it is Sergei is or is not doing that has Martin so pissed at him? surely it can be phrased diffrently.  If we get eliminated I would love to know the truth abouthis situation…..what s the real deal because there has to be far more to it.  We all see the games and know that Sergei deserves to play and far more opportunity than he gets.  Is he really that much of a dink at practice or off the ice? Soemone could probably write a damn book on this and thousands of copies would sell to HIO alone……why? what is the logic here….if we lose him to the KHL because Martin is an idiot it will be horrible….we could potentially lose 2 players befcause our coach is an idiot…or maybe Serei is that bad off the ice? I don;t know but I know enough to see that he is and has always been better than the guys we dress instead of him.  Do coaches really need to have a scapegoat?  I think coaches should get healthy scratched every know and then….d sucks, d coach sit it out and insert Boucher into the lineup, Martin sucks…insert a flying monkey into the lineup…actually let’s just go ahead and do that one anyway.  It is so frustrating and people can say that a guy who scored 7 goals doesn;t make a difference all they want…this team has only ever shown any promise in the last several years when it had depth…..

  52. forskis says:

That does not really mean anything…Price allowed only two goals by Carolina and still got booed…

  57. andrewberkshire says:

Anabolic steroids don’t make you heal faster.

  58. Bouleau noir says:

Depth players need to show a higher level of commitment than S.K. does to be effective and S.K.’s offensive output is not hight enouph to compensate for his errings…. his shift following our fourth goal in Washington was everything you dont want to see from a third line player and the reasons why Washington were able to score their second goal and be back in the game before the ending of the second period.

  59. Aybara says:

JM’s vendetta against Sergei is a crock of droppings. The guy makes a couple mistakes here and there, but he’s working on it.. They need to give him ice time and a chance to grow instead of giving it to someone like darche who ain’t gonna be helping the team going forward.

Fire JM before getting rid of Sergei if it’s between the two.. Goddamn egoist!

  60. habsfan0 says:

The reason JM says nothing to his players during the game is that he’s too busy taking notes.Multi tasking isn’t for everybody, you know.

  61. Shublips says:

Too true! This team plays NOT to lose, rather than playing to win. JM needs to go.  The game has clearly passed this guy by.

Wow, that one was beautifully edited, the colours and transitions are very much like the authentic ones.

Take a gander at the one I made about Price. Will i be eating my shorts tonight?

  64. habs4cup says:

I heard on the team 990, quoting McGuire who stands between benches saying: “JM says absolutely nothing nothing to his players during the game”.

so I guess that explains why this team neber comes back in a game when they’re behind and never has any confidence. If your coach isn’t willing to give positive affirmations, you’re done .

there isn’t a team that is less fragile than this 1, and their psyche is 1 of fear and afraid to lose. that’s why they always play to not lose, instead of playing to win.

JM is the absolute worst choice for coach of this team. If only the Molson Bros could see what the entire world sees. GET RID OF JM OR NEXT YEAR WILL ACTUALLY BE WORSE!

  65. Xtrahabsfan says:

    If only he ate meat,lol

  66. MikeL says:

    Those stats are obviously skewed.

Pittsburgh and Ottawa are in the same series – 1 and 2.

    Detroit and Phoenix – 3 and 4

Buffalo and Boston- 5 and 8

Montreal and Washington – last and 3rd last

The biggest gap between two teams in the same series is 5 – Nashville and Chicago.

So, those stats are pretty series dependant, and I wouldn’t put too much value into them.

  76. Hockey Socks says:

As valuable as he was during the regular season, I’m not impressed with him so far in this series. He seems totally dazzled when having to go up against the skill guys on Washington and seems ready to commit a stupid penalty in any given play.

I’d rather see a game start like this – with chances at both ends – then the way the last game started when it was all Habs in the first. Too many times I’ve seen team come out great in the first period and falter after not scoring in the first. But seriously… Price makes me nervous…

JM was fine in pre-lockout hockey, the new game doesn’t suit him at all and it’s been shown time and again this year, he hasn’t been able to adjust to the changes in the format of post-lockout hockey.

I think we all knew it didn’t matter who was in net. Just like last game with Halak, none of the goals were really the goalie’s fault, although the 4th one he lost track of the puck, but a backdoor play like that, not sure it mattered.

Agree that Halak can have the next game, but I’d be much more happy to sit Hamrlik. We know we’re not winning this series, send a message to Hamrlik.

  133. JIMVINNY says:

Haha.  Idiots.  No wonder they looked so good.

  134. Hockey Socks says:

If the Habs win the series, would they play Pittsburgh (assuming they beat the Sens)? Yikes.

  135. Peter Young says:

The Canadiens were beaten by a better team, but they put forth a tremendous effort for most of the game.  The Caps just have too much firepower.  And they had better goaltending tonight, too.  That’s not faulting Price, but praising Varlamov.  The officiating was spotty at best, but it didn’t make the difference.

I am not impressed with Varlamov at all. Montreal haven’t forced him into that many big saves. He usually just has to make an easy first save on a long shot, and no-one crashes for the second chance. If they get a good opportunity, Semin can trip the Hab with impunity, or Sergei will shoot it a mile wide. If anyone on the Habs besides Gionta was heading to the net, Montreal would be winning by a pair.

    Time for another overhall.

  234. Tis Himself says:

    That was just plain woeful!

  235. Big Ted says:

Went to the game and here’s what I saw:

    1) Ovechkin = classless. Showered the kid with snow before the game, cheered like a dufus after he scored, cherry-picked all night long. You really don’t see how much of a cherry-picker he is until you see what goes on behind the play. Had two very good shots that he desrved to score on but what an unsportsmanlike piece of work. IMO deserves to be suspended for what he did before the game.

    2) MAB wasn’t as bad as he was the last two games but still can’t seem to get his passes all the way to the target. For a guy with a hard shot, he gets nothing on his passes. Hamrlik was the only guy worse. Really wondering if he might be playing hurt. yes, he’s old, but the drop-off the past 2-3 weeks has been so shocking. OB was great, possibly the habs best d man. Markov was okay but he pinched at weird times, Gill and gorges were solid but had a couple of break-downs this time around. OB was fresh and it showed.

3)Pouliot showed good spark through the neutral zone but he still can’t control the puck in the O-zone. I am still pushing for Cammy-Gomez-Gio, SK-Pleks-AK as the top two lines. Sergei and lapierre were IMO the Habs two best forwards tonight. SK deserves to play on the top two lines over Pouliot right now. Let Pouliot play on an energy line and use his size.

    4) Price played well despite the 4 goals. JM could legitimately go with Price or Halak next game, and mark my words, who he starts will be a strong indicator of who the habs think will be their number one next year. My money says they go back with Price. Not really sure why he got that unsportsmanlike penalty at the end, after the game the refs called where they let a lot of little things go, you’d have to think it would be something really major to dish out a 2 minute penalty with 8 minutes to go and the habs down 2.

    5) We still haven’t played a full 60 minutes. Game 1, we were outplayed the first 30 min. game 2 we stopped playing in the third. Game 3, we forgot to play the second. Today, we were flat and out of gas in the third. The Habs stars look tired and the ability of boudreau to give his depth lines more minutes is showing. Gio, gomez, MAB, markov… the big guns were pooped come the end of the game. JM needs to manage his bench better.

    6) Pretty sure everyone is convinced the season is over. it looks pretty dismal. The optimist in me says we just need to win game 5 (like we did against the bruins when we came back from 3-1), then we take it home and try to build on crowd energy again. If we win game 5, it’s a series again, so we’re really only one win away from being back in this. I know the flip side (one loss and we’re done) is more likely but it’s not over til it’s over. Crowds at both games so far have been great, might give us an energy boost i we can bring it back for a 6th game.

  238. vanderglenn says:

totally agree. I can’t help but think how immature Price is. The shot fired at schultz tonight, the fist through the wall at GM place, the comment that the team sat on its ass in the last five minutes of the Buffalo game after all the blown goals he has allowed. Not to mention all of his very decorative and suggestive helmet art when he’s barely a proven NHL netminder. I hope he does well somewhere else but it wouldn’t hurt my feelings to see him go.

Ok you cynical fans who arent happ witht his team!!! Just shut the hell up and be proud of a team that was thrown together by a desperate GM. We did good this year, At least we know where our weaknesses are, and It is not in our Offense. Relax and be proud for once, they tried!! They played against one of the best teams assembled and we have no superstars on our team and we faired well every game. We just had bad Calls in game 2 thanks to Bettman and the NHL and thats what killed a major part of the Habs spirit, and ours as fans. As Fans, lets be proud and respect the CH!!

No Canadien team has a chance as long as Bettman is in control.

I’ve always liked Hamrlik, but he cost us the game tonight and continues to show his age. He’s simply being leaned on too heavily because we’ve got no other options. All in all, as sad as this may sound, this was our best game I think this year. The old bad habits bit us in the ass again.

Was this Prices fault? no. But the goaltending battle was the difference.

I think the biggest hole on the team so far has unfortunately been Hammer. He’s been pretty decent all year but washington soon realized that when the attack on Hammer’s side, good things happen.

Oh well, one last chance to sport the ol’ Jersey, then on to golf.

  356. EricInStL says:

The sad thing is that we are mediocre at best. Will draft crap and continue in this vein for the next 4 years or so.

Think about how everyone else will get better in the east. While we dwell in the cellar fighting with the Panthers of the hockey world. All the other teams have 1 superstar, we don’t. Maybe with PK next year, but the way JM coaches the rookies you can imagine if he makes an error, he’ll bench him…

Also SK will be lost and will be very good with another team who will be smart enough to make a lowball offer to the Habs and we’ll do it as JM will say he is uncoachable….

At least the NFL draft is tomorrow….

    In Guy Boucher I trust.

  359. badbalance says:

Montreal outplayed Was most of the game, if this team won’t give up and keep confident, they can comeback. It’s really not over until its over. Until you see third period with the clock at 0.5 seconds left, it’s not over. This team just needs to click and start bagging goals, they showed they can this series. What you think the Habs are just gonna pack up and let Was take it? Lets just hope we can get some momentum and win the next game.

  360. J. Ambrose says:

The only good that could come from this loss is perhaps it will quiet the yahoos on here who constantly harp about this goalie or the other (depending on their bias — in the case of guys like S.Aces, its more a manic obsession) as being the cause of all that ails us, or the shining promise of success… if only JM would start him. This is NOT, nor ever has been about whose between the pipes. It is about who is between the boards, and how far they stay away from those boards.

This is a team with loads of individual talent, but hastily assembled from spare parts like Mary Shelley’s monster. This was not a squad carefully constructed with a thought to who would fit well with whom (other than the Gomez-Gionta pairing), and what sort of players were needed to play different sorts of teams and different styles of play.

We have talent and we have heart, but we are sadly lacking in some key areas. Goaltending ain’t one of them.

However, I fully realize my first plea is hopeless. The Price-ites and Halakians will continue to hurl stones at one another punctuated by asinine claims that we’d be so much better if we had more english coaches and english players.

    Habs won’t win this game

  384. HAB-PROFESSOR says:

the critical Washington 3rd and 4th goals…were both BERGERONS fault… he was lazy and slow during the powerplay that led to the disrupted flow and turnover…and he failed to move the puck behind the net for the 4th…

really, where the heck has OBYRNE been this series…. and another fact, PRICE is not elite, nor touching on elite, nor have moments of eliteness…if he was then OVI doesn’t score twice… not that HALAK is better, just a tad more consistent.

again another game where the HABS should have won (aside from the breakdown shorthanded killer)…how is it possible we can say this now for all 4 games, but still be on the verge of being sweeped…

    something wrong with this picture.

oh…and one more comment…GREAT DOMINIC MOORE!, this guy was Torontos best player a few years ago and I was thrilled when we picked him up, he is excellent defensively, very FAST, good headsup stickhandler, and you all saw what he did tonight, END TO END GOAL….nobody else did that…not even OVI.

1:The N.A.G. (North American Grit) Youth Movement will bring us respect. 2:The NHL-Ref-Syndicate will do everything in its power to never allow the HABS to win another Stanley Cup. 3:Take it easy on the boys, they are going 110%

  389. ManApart says:

For all you loud mouths that came out of hiding saying Price would be the saviour, there you go. As I said, it would make no difference who was in nets. Price was average tonight and outplayed by Varlamov. It was probably the Habs best effort as a team. Price is now 0-9 in his last 9 playoff games, which is obviously terrible. He’s won 3 games in the past 5 months, and couldn’t get the job done along with the rest of the TEAM. Start Halak next game, not because it matters any, but it’s fitting that when the team goes down, he be the one to go down with them, because he was the better goalie this year.

  390. 4loorplay says:

Re: the Caps, I personally don’t see how they can win the cup.  The Habs are exposing them as a defensively weak team, with sick offense.  Ok, so what happens when they play against a REAL team like, say, the Pens, or The Canucks, or Detroit.  I don’t see them winning.

  407. kempie says:

yes, ob has made some big mistakes this year, some bad decisions. he’s what 6; 7″? took boxing lessons this summer, has a bit of a nasty side? yeah, we better sit him and humiliate him and put him in a suit in the pb for the night. too risky.

Well Vancouver’s media and GM stood up for their players and fans so did Colorado but where is Geoff Molson I am proud of the player I am ashamed at the ownership. Your players and fans were screwd over in the second game and the first two periods tonight. I  can’t believe what a bunch of cowards the media is in Quebec for not ask questions about the Steroid cover up by the NHL and the Caps . Thank god for S.I. for telling the truth.

  427. Exit716 says:

    It’s Gainey’s actually.

  428. twilighthours says:

There is such a huge discrepancy in talent between these two teams.  Montreal had to play a perfect game to win tonight.  They did, for 39 minutes, and then Hamrlik….

They showed a lot of hearth, though.  Infinitely more than last year’s team.

  429. TripleX says:

Want to bet Hammer still gets his minutes on the PP?  Benching a veteran is a no no in the JM coaching book, only young players have to be perfect.

  430. punkster says:

Hey, not talking about his game. Talking about the dumb, childish, immature penalty. This guy hasn’t grown up yet and I’d prefer he practice his crap elsewhere. Good goalie? Maybe some day. But not here.

  431. BC HAB says:

We need a superstar or two or three or four. Just like the Crapitals.  Unfortunately the only way that it will ever happen is if we tank for a few years or if the stupid NHL will include every team in the draft lottery.

  432. sidhu says:

Hammer should not play the point on the PP ever again.  Ever.

  433. HardHabits says:

    Crap. I woke up.

  434. Chuck Chuck Goose says:

I must say I was glad to see O’Byrne back on the ice, he even had a few decent offensive shifts thrown in there

Jdub1616, you are a racist and you ought to be banned from this blog.

Edit:  The comment to which this responded was removed as were all his other comments.  He referred to Jacques Martin’s Francophone background in a derogatory way.

  436. danedmunds says:

hamrlik and bergeron again and they almost score…. absurd

  437. StevieRay says:

What game were u watching … I thought it started when Gomez let one of his patented blistering snap shoots go … with no Habs insight .. it missed the net ..of course ..came of the boards and away the Caps went .

Why the heck he wouldn’t carry it in a keep possesion until he had some company ???

    Gomez   -3 for 8 million … MAB -3 for .75 million …  give me MAB anyday !

  438. SlovakHab says:

First, we gave up a 4-1 lead in game 2. Now, we gave up another lead to go with a huge momentum we’ve had in the 2nd period..

    What if…

…the Habs didn’t give it all up and lead 3-1 after tonight?

    History will be made.

  439. Castor says:

  440. Propwash says:

Maybe, but I think thatll just screw over his trade/re-signing potential. Mind you if we can re-sign him and Price on the cheap, were good to go in the goaltending situation.

Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.

  441. Connecticut Man1 says:

Frick! We are blowing them off th ice most of this game.

  442. Jbird says:

    Minus 40?  damn.

  443. Habsfan_jay says:

Any sugestions then? Who do you think they should try and get? A real brusier would be a nice addition.

    What a piece of garbage

  446. brysonom says:

if hammer and his contract are here next year and pleks or halak or price are not as a result i will not be a happy camper!

  447. T-roy West says:

We got him from Calgary remember.

  448. sidhu says:

Gents, maybe we have to take a step back to take two forward — if we lose this series, there’s a greater chance JM will be fired.

  449. SuperStarz says:

I Rather Hal Gill on the PP now Why Hamrlik
is the nhl paying you more than the habs are ????

  450. JVF says:

    Well, see you next season!

  451. brysonom says:

I liked Obyrne a lot tonight actually..the odd bad pass in his own end but better than average!

  452. craz11 says:

I’d rather have Brisebois out there…

    Please. Single malts.

  461. kempie says:

yeah, hey who wants hammer at 5.5? he’s a veteran. He’s hard to hate when he did what he did when markov was out. but pick it up man. early easy. common hammer.

  462. brysonom says:

Habs cant cash on perfect chances…washington’s stars dont need a perfect opportunity…thats why they scored about 100 more goals this year, thats why they will win this game…that and hammer is a hab…

  463. badangel says:

    i’m depressed :(

  464. Mattee. says:

Will anybody take on Hamrliks contract?

  465. SomersetVII says:

Let’s see, who we throwing the blame at tonight….

probably the coach, seeing as were all experts on why this team is not winning

  466. ButJohnnyLovesHockey says:

Hamrlik cost the Habs 3 goals in game2, the last three WSH goals. In Game 4 it was his lazy pinch that lead to the SHG for the first goal against when all the momentum was on the Hab’s side.

Boone, or Stubbs or Hickey or Mio – please ask Jacques Martin what he sees in Roman. Is this guy the most charming mother in the NHL? 5.5m dollars a year for a non-physical, no slapshot, aging, slow, and listless player?

  467. badbalance says:

    Every goalie is Ovie’s bitch

  468. zamboni says:

look at the bright side guys, with #47 sucking, we can sign him back cheap :)

  469. topher5468 says:

Im proud of my fellow habs fans for not crucifing our goalie after tonights loss, As we know we are solid at that position. Hamr should be done. I know Boone loves Pouliot but I dont, I thought he was going to score some goals, I guess I expected more from him. Oh yea, I dont care where he’s from. Gio should be this teams Captain, I wonder why he’s not already.

“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”

  470. twilighthours says:

Hamrlik is destroying my sanity.  He should never see another PP shift in his career.

  471. sidhu says:

If the Habs lose this series, my only hope will be that the Caps do not win the Cup.  I don’t have any respect for this club.

  474. BC HAB says:

I agree 100%.  And to add to that it should be the last game that Hamrlik plays as a hab.  Buy the bitch out.  Bring up Subban now.  Nothing to lose bringing Subban up.

  475. HardHabits says:

Well, at least we get that awesome draft pick, right?

  476. HNS says:

Shit Defence, missed oportunities, and crap coaching = LOSE. This team is no better than the one that played their last game against the leaves.

  477. habs_1993 says:

Definately Thought we would come up for a win tonight…..Hamrlik…..oh man…..what are we gonna do with u………… Offence…..all rite i guess……Defence……all rite as well, Gill and Gorges played pretty well, O’Bryne was also decent….Goaltending…..Pretty good as well….but lets face it….we aint gonna win by letting our goaltender steal games, Washington just has 2 much firepower….I would go back with Price for Game 5….and, when the last game is played, thats when the series is over! Go Habs Go

  478. spoonfullofjelly says:

With the way Varlamov’s playing, that Hamrlik F’up has reallly really made me nervous.

  479. Bill says:

The Habs have played hard and deserve respect. They’re outgunned and outclassed, and when the chips are down, it really shows. For these Habs to beat these Caps would take awesome goaltending, great coaching, and lots of luck. Needless to say, the Habs have none of that.

    Full Breezer 4 Life

  480. Exit716 says:

Hamilton, Cincinnati or a good beer league team.

  481. TheMock780 says:

Coming into the season I actually diluted myself into thinking the Habs D would be better this season. Instead all those ‘great’ veterans (ie. Hammer, Gill, Spacek) have physically worn down because Martin refused to give them a break this season by using the occasional call-up more ofter when Markov and O’B were out. As much as we all love Georges for his heart and effort he’s a #5-6 dman on a good team, he can’t pull the workload of a #3-4.

This loss isn’t on Price. I actually liked the show of frustration, just to show that he actually does care. I’m starting to shift back to Price in the franchise altering goalie decision of the summer of 2010

  482. topher5468 says:

    Whats your opinion on Pouliot

“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”

  483. HABSsince92 says:

All because of blowing a 4-1 lead in game 2. How different this series would look right now. It will be a long offseason as has become the norm around here? We have become a shell of are former selves. Does anybody really care in the Habs organization though? I hope we keep both Price and Halak and somehow get some hockey players who are big, tough, and score goals this offseason.

    - Bobby

Been a Habs fan since I was in 2nd grade and sat behind Patrick Roy at the Aud.

  484. SeriousFan09 says:

Moen and Pouliot like SK and AK, need a coach who encourages them to do what they do. This team has become frighteningly non-physical under the direction of JM and Moen was force on the ice to start the year, then became less so as the year went on, coincidence? Doubtful. JM thinks he’s coaching non-contact hockey where 3rd-period leads are invincible.

    - I shall always remember Captain Koivu.

  485. Felicity says:
this is very interesting indeed.Would love to read a little more of this.
Great post. Thanks for the heads-up…This blog was very informative and
  486. novahab says:

This team maybe small but this team has a big heart the problem with this team is they need a coach and he is in Hamliton.

  487. petrov14 says:

Well, we’ll get ‘em next year. See you guys at the draft….   :_(

    ______________________________________ Gionta for Captain.

  488. Stefman says:

Our defencemen were heroic. They were the main reason we took game 1 and had a sniff at the others. There is noe single scapegoat in this team Hamrlik looked rough in the series at times, but where are we without him filling Markov’s shoes in the regular season? Probably 10th place. The team showed well against the most offensively gifted team in the league, one that I don’t think anyone expected us to have any chance at, and they were proved wrong because it really was THAT close at some many times.

  489. SeriousFan09 says:

Signed him as a FA from there I know, but Sutter’s obviously flipped his lid so we might as well take advantage of the inmate running the asylum.

    - I shall always remember Captain Koivu.

  490. AH says:

Thanks Hamrlik for your wonderful effort at the end of the second, we had all the momentum! we have got to dump this guy in the offseason! Too small, too soft, bums like Bergeron getting a regular shift, and a frickin’ pop gun offense! At the end of the day it’s men against boys..sigh. At least they’ll be able to get some weekend tee times.

  491. 21272andme says:

    6-3 by the way.

  492. Led says:

Classic Habs. Always find a stupid way to give up momentum.

  493. habs4cup says:

I think Cedric Desjardins should be habs #1 goalie next year. After all he was the best goalie in the AHL.

and JM, send him on a 1 way ticket to Siberia.

  494. Gooner says:

Would be the biggest mistake this franchise ever made. That penalty was just as bogus as Gomez’s misconduct or Pleks unsportsmenlike penalty the other night. But it does show who has passion on this team

  495. 24 Cups says:

OK, Hamrlik had a brain cramp.  Let’s all get over it.  If someone had told me we would be tied after two periods then I would be feeling like we were in good shape.  Let’s hang tough.

  496. SuperStarz says:

    MAnApart = My bitch
now get your ass back in the kitchen (sorry REAL ladies i really do not mean this)

  497. habaholic68NJ says:

Why is Hammer on the PP?  Stupid Martin doesn’t get it.

The only way to beat the Caps is to pressure them.  Hang back, even on the PP and they will burn you.  If the Habs do not figure this out during this intermission, then say good by to the game and the season.

  498. crabvader says:

Caps won’t make it out of round 2. Guaranteed. That is…if they make it there?

Hamrlik and MAB will make sure they do, though.

  499. fun police says:

it seems every little mistake costs us.  habs dominated and hammer ruins it.  hammer has been bad for the last month.  he was brutal against toronto, he has been bad this series.  he deserves to sit.  poor price, the only shot he faces is a two on one.

  500. danedmunds says:

caps will not win the cup…. they can not beat pittsburgh… varlamov will show why he sucks…. remember that the habs make every goalie look like dryden

  501. TripleX says:

  502. SeriousFan09 says:

Calgary? Sutter seems to have gone totally insane.

    - I shall always remember Captain Koivu.

  503. zamboni says:

You think JM would do something out of the box and pull the goalie out now instead of the last 30 secs?

  504. StevieRay says:

and we are paying Gomez much ??? some bargin he is …. he should be good the next game because he didn’t do anything tonite …EXCEPT… his weak wrist shot let to the caps 3rd goal which broke our backs and then there was another 4-2 just like that …Gomez …invisable

So now Halak starts ….so what …. enjoy the summer !! it’s over !!!

    JM …sucks !!!

  505. habsfan1001 says:

That cardboard cutout made sure 44 was on the ice so he could screw us again. It just  took  the heart from me can u imagine what it has done to the team after they played so well in the 2nd

  506. TripleX says:

  507. leafs67_andcounting says:

Mike, I dont expect you to admit this, as you must work among them, but honestly……………….29 teams dont care what language there coach, GM or Captain speaks. Only 1 franchise has to worry about that. Reasonably thinking…..does that help us?……………..I’m going to go out on a limb and say no. We won’t win a Cup anytime soon….just like the Leafs

  508. marianne1410 says:
often read your blog and always find it very interesting. Thought it was
about time i let you know…Keep up the great work
  509. avatar_58 says:

because ONE mistake caused it. Had Hamr not been on the ice we’d be 2-1 after 2. That’s why.

  510. sidhu says:

    I hope you’re right, Al

  511. TripleX says:

Oh, I did not realize Hammer took it upon himself to play the PP with seconds left in the period.  Sorry JM.

  512. joeybarrie says:

The difference here is, they can score and we cannot. I think Varlamov will be 1st star. But we came fairly close. We beat them in more periods this series. Problem is when they beat us,they score 2-3 at a time.

There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…

  513. Eliisa says:

I will never be that desperate. Go Kings!! :)

  514. T-roy West says:

Mr. Boone. Can you get the moderator who is deleting my posts for no particular reason, to stop please. It’s an abuse of privilege I would think.

  515. punkster says:

Hey, I haven’t got a problem with Price’s play. Both he and Halak are good, young tenders with great futures. But I’ve had enough of Price’s childishness. That penalty was uncalled for. It was stupid. Did it change the game? No. But it shows he’s still a wet behind the ears kid who needs to grow up.

  516. sidhu says:

So sad to see the Habs play with such determination and grit, Gio, Gomez, Metro, SK, OB, Pleks, Cammy, etc., only to be let down by a guy who gave up on a play.

You never, ever give up on a play, especially in the playoffs.

It’s little league 101 – you run through the first base bag no matter what!

  517. Aybara says:

Did they just give Price the ol half-hearted yay after he made that easy save.. I always used to talk shit to all my toronto friends about how Montreal has the best fans… I’m starting to think we have the worst fans.

  518. TripleX says:

Think Mr. Boone or any other press person will stand up in the same manner for SK, AK or O’Byrne??   Not a chance.

Pouliot is SOFT and has been a total bust and should have been replaced on his line and the PP with SK. But JM and Mr. Boone LOVE Pouliot because he is sooooooooo awesome.

  519. twilighthours says:

Would they also have mentioned that the Habs were up 2-1 until a huge, momentum-changing SHG allowed the Caps to tie it with 30 seconds left in the 2nd period?

  520. Chuck Chuck Goose says:

    A little late there, JM

  521. B says:

I’d rather they win as many as they can.

  522. habsfaninboston says:

    TO?  Why now JM?

  523. ooder says:

trade Hammer, bring up PK/Carle… bam the d-corp is complete :)

“I like what I’m seeing right now,” assessed Markov. “We’re not perfect, but we’re trying to be.”

  524. longtimehabsfan says:

If I’m the coach I tell my guys that 40 mins means squat.  2-2 and we should be ahead doesn’t equal a win.  It happens.  Good teams don’t always win when they’re playing well.  Sometimes you have to suck it up and keep working.  Don’t feel sorry for yourseves, get mad!!!!

  525. Led says:

Not fair? Outshot 16-6 in the third period of a crucial game you controlled most of. Coming out flat with the game on the line. In a winnable series they folded, again. Washignton may be the better team (they won’t win the cup) but they were ripe for the pickin’, many times.

  526. novahab says:

They have to shot for the five hole are you kidding me you can drive a bus through those legs. he over playing the glove and blocker but he leaving his legs wide open. Quick Boone send someone down to the locker room and tell the boys, That save of Cammy was a joke all Cammy had to do was slide the puck on the ice.

  527. notbigbird says:

I think they’re going to lose, but they’re giving their all. Can’t ask for much more.

  528. petrov14 says:

    Haha..Im just joking…I know

  530. sidhu says:

Oh now JM calls a time-out, that’s great!

  531. badbalance says:

Noone cares, we lost as a team. Stop with your scapegoat, Halak blew 2 games before that, what is he in the playoffs anyways 1-3?

  532. Bryan says:

Who else would you play with Spacek out?  Gill?  O’Byrne?

The Habs are making me Bi-Polar.

  533. crabvader says:

I give full marks to our offence for battling…but the D gave them nothing. Spacek and Gill were the better d-men… Gorges too… but as soon as Markov starting firing up, everyone just sat back and watched.

    Our D-core is appaling.

I hope the vegetarian puts some meat on next year’s blue line.

  534. ooder says:

I agree 100%… i find it hard to believe that Moen compltely forgot what got him in the NHL and what won him a stanley cup.

he has been a monster during his entire career.. and now.. as dormant as a house cat

“I like what I’m seeing right now,” assessed Markov. “We’re not perfect, but we’re trying to be.”

  535. Habhopeful says:

Well we have nothing to lose

  536. joe-hab-nuno says:

    Markov……..yes (no brainer)

    OB…………..yes(had less mistakes then Hammer)

Spacek……..yes(and finally let him play his natural side, should have at least let him play his side for half the season and shift Hammer to the other)

Georges…….no(too small, too soft, but I still like him but would try getting someone bigger.

    Gill……………yes(showed he’s a playoff guy)

PK…………….yes(proved himself for a whole seaso in the ahl, might even win mvp)

Weber………no(didn’t have a good second season try him another seaso in the ahl to see if he can brinng his game up)

  537. forskis says:

The Habs are playing great….forget the goal and keep pushing…the Habs will come out and play the same great way they have all game…the entire season hinges on this coming 3rd period whether it be 2-2 or 2-1….

“I am guilty of using elipses…”

  538. Chuck Chuck Goose says:

A few bad apples shouldn’t spoil the whole bunch…….but I know what you mean

  539. showey47 says:

price pulled great time to put hamr on the ice to help pad the caps stats

  540. smiler2729 says:

This might sound kooky and maybe it’s the beer talkin’ but… Kirk Muller for Head Coach. There, I said it, I’ve want to say it for about a year now and there had to be a reason he was the only assistant held over from Carbo’s boys…

If Boudreau, Bylsma and Clouston can coach well in this league, well, Kirk would make this team never take a shift off ever.

Yeah yeah, he doesn’t speak french well but he’s the kind of guy that would learn.

    Kirk Muller for coach.

  541. SuperStarz says:

  543. avatar_58 says:

Meh. After calming down you know what? They played great save for that crappy messup by Hamrlik. Get rid of that worthless schmuck along with MAB and probably Spacek too (since he hasn’t panned out as an offensive defenseman) and start over with younger AHL’ers. I want to see Subban, Weber and Belle on defense, White, Palushaj and some off-season signings who are preferably big (pssst…trade for Buy-fug-lin)

  544. T-roy West says:

Thats true he might be ripe for the picking.

  545. ooder says:

wow.. this team can’t buy a bouncer or a break.

wow.. JM is a genious.. now he calls a time out

not when the caps were coming back against us when it was 4-3…

“I like what I’m seeing right now,” assessed Markov. “We’re not perfect, but we’re trying to be.”

  546. Connecticut Man1 says:

I like what Hamerlik brings to the game most of the time but on the PP he is killin’ us. As bad as watching MAB trying to hold the blueline in the offensive zone sometimes.

  547. hockeydoc says:

    canadiens=no finish+no defence=losers    btw where is plekanec?

  548. ooder says:

uhh that’s his point.. there is no scape goat.. the goalies are not our problem

“I like what I’m seeing right now,” assessed Markov. “We’re not perfect, but we’re trying to be.”

  550. SlovakHab says:

    :( oh well

  551. Go Habs Go Theme Song Guy says:

My thoughts exactly. Add scoring touch to the grocery list….

But I’m impressed. Every game this year in the playoffs they fought back.

The miracle goaltending didn’t show up, and the Caps are natural born killers.

  552. B says:

Montreal is out hitting Washington 22 to 13 after 2, but has only won 12 of 42 faceoffs. Out shooting them 33 to 18.

  553. sidhu says:

Maybe, like most coaches, you wait until you have possession before you pull a goalie.

  554. twilighthours says:

No.  He had a few good shifts but otherwise nothing special.

  555. Hockey Socks says:

Rare Markov interview. What an oddball.

  556. kempie says:

    why is mcguire still talking?

  557. sidhu says:

SK was excellent tonight. I used to think he was going to be a star, and then some stuff happened and I thought I was wrong. Now I realise I was right, he just needs the right opportunities/situation.

  565. dicktracy says:

…and Hamlik is still out there….good luck.

  566. SeriousFan09 says:

Carle’s too fragile for the NHL, he’s faced injury every season in the AHL and I’ve never seen anything special from him. Not big and he doesn’t add any more physical power to the blueline. I say keep an eye on College FA Brendon Nash we acquired, 6’3″ so there’s potential there.

  572. habaholic68NJ says:

I have two contradictory wishes for the next game:

    1.  Habs are loose and win it, and do he same in game six to force a game seven.

    2.  Caps destroy us 10-0, and Martin is subsequently fired (or more likely promoted upstairs) and Boucher is hired after the Bulldogs win it all.

  573. Castor says:

    I don’t blame Hammer…he’s obviously tired. I blame MARTIN!

He still uses him on the PP when SERGEI had something like 10 points in like 7 minutes on the PP last year. He has a blast and is MUCH fater…but no. Martin is a baby when it comes to Sergei. SO ANNOYING.

MARTIN is the reason for the struggles of this team. I’ve said it for the last half of the year.

  574. rogieshan says:

At least O’Byrne and Pyatt played a decent game.

Backstorm was the better player through out the series.

geez i dont remebr me hating anyone as much as i hate ovechkin.. i guess its because of his face.

  584. Will Longlade says:

Hey Booner, can the Habs call up the Subbanator? The team needs a lift right now. Hope JM finally tunes in to the folly in playing MAB. Hope Spacek is back for Game 5. He could have made the difference tonight.

  593. Keith says:

I would agree with your choice for coach, but it will never happen as long as Pierre Boivin is President of the club.

  594. Exit716 says:

Perry Pearn handles the defense. He’s the guy that replaced Doug Jarvis.

    I miss Jarvis. Pearn sucks.

Another tired Martin crony sitting on the bench just staring back at the fans just waiting to suck.

  595. Exit716 says:

Washington was a joke when Gainey became the Habs GM.

    Now they are a powerhouse.

What are the Habs now that Gainey sits on his ass collecting a pay cheque as an advisor?

    A joke.

He should have quit last season after he ripped everyone in Montreal for the Habs lousy season except himself.

    “I did my best.”

    Sure Bob.

You know what. We’ll be dealing with the residue of “your best” for the next five seasons.

I hope the Molson kids and their investors were factoring in a few out of the playoff seasons when they purchased the team.

I’m looking forward to the next home playoff game, sometime likely in 2014.

    Molson has to clean house.

    Starting Monday.

  596. joe-hab-nuno says:

I’m tired of this changing the coach every year, but this is the first time since Tremblay that I don’t want to give a second chance to a coach. But I remember Kirk speaking french in interviews when he played here.

  597. habsoul says:

I was hoping for another win, but the difference between these two teams is pretty clear. The Habs played almost a perfect game in the series opener and still only eked a win in OT. Time to lick our wounds and look towards next season.

MAB won’t be back. Subban will take over his role.

Halak is gone. It will be Price’s team, for better or worse.

Mara? Goodbye. Metropolit is history, as is Darche and Moore.

But the team doesn’t change much otherwise. Montreal will try to keep Pleks but that’s not a sure thing. Sergei will be traded. Not enough money for a high-profile free agent.

    Hello, Brock Trotter!

Did he get any PP time???  NOOOOOOOOOO

Will he play in the third when we need offense??? NOOOOOOO

Will Hammer get a regular shift plus PP time???  YESSSSSSSS

  606. punkster says:

  607. Big Bird says:

No one expected this team to make the playoffs.  They did.  No one expected them to make the playoffs when Markov got injured in the first game of the season.  They did.  No one expected them to make the playoffs prior to the Olympics. They did.  No one expected them to even beat Washington in one game. They did.  If it wasn’t for the meltdown in Game 2 they would be up 2-0.  Even if the team loses on Friday, they beat expectations.  I can live with that.

Is there a lot of work to be done?  Absolutely.  Do they have major player personnel issues to answer?  Yes.  Do I dislike Jacques Martin as a coach.  Yup.  Do I think the future looks good with 2 young goalies and players like Subban and a coach like Boucher.  Yes.

They made the playoffs when EVERYONE thought they had no chance in hell.  You beat I’m disappointed they lost but a little perspective please.   I’d say they deserve at least a passing grade for this year.

  608. SuperStarz says:

Easy to be critical when nobody here ever makes a mistake at their work. I understand their frustration but heck it’s an error, stuff happens. Move on. The Habs are playing an awesome game, best of this season I think. Lets enjoy that aspect while it lasts.

WTG Moore! At least somebody is trying.

  622. sidhu says:

I will say this, I ragged on Gill big time when he first joined the Habs.  I thought he was way too slow and one-dimensional to be worth a spot or $2m+ in salary.

But he’s turned it on towards the end of the season and has been a rock in the playoffs.  He’s stepped it up and earned my respect.

  623. HABSsince92 says:

He has passion and intensity which this current version of the Habs definitly needs. He has a competitive fire inside like Roy.

  628. sidhu says:

Remember way back when, when we’d matchup a defensive line specifically against the best offensive line of the opposing team?

Why didn’t we do that this series?  Why not matchup our best defensive forwards against Ovy and Backstrom?  Instead, we have the Pleks line out against them, or the Gomez line.  And what happened – guys like Pouliot miss their check.  Defensive guys wouldn’t.

    Bad coaching.

Now I understand why Timo is the way he is.

  661. ManApart says:

I said from early this year that Halak was the better goalie yes. I said the only way the Habs get into the playoffs is if Halak was made #1. I said before the series, the Habs have no chance and would lose in 5. I put most of the blame  on Gainey for having a team that was not built for playoff hockey. Seems like I was pretty dead on all year.

  662. Connecticut Man1 says:

I am all about going with the hot hand and Jaro had it most of the season. But Price is doing great tonight. Just what we needed to shake up the team.

  673. Big Ted says:

Not sure if anyone mentioned this already or if people even saw it one tv, but pre-game, Ovechkin skated out of the tunnel straight across the ice and showered the little kid with the Habs flag with snow. Definitely on purpose, he sat on the bench right after and all the other caps high-fived him. Worthy of a suspension in my opinion, what a classless and unsportsmanlike play from a guy who has shown this year that’s exactly what he is. Did they show this on tv???

You can thank Gainey for the last 7 years. I’ve been laying most of the blame on him all year for the mediocrity this team has shown the past half decade or more. Not sure if you were in agreement or not, but I think everyone can finally understand what I have been saying all this time.

  709. Keith says:

I love that Keystone Beer commercial. Cracks me up every time lol!

  710. SuperStarz says:

    oh man you’re useless

  711. Iyana says:
do i get more information on this
  712. Peter Young says:

Whatever the result turns out to be, what a magnificent effort by our team tonight.

  713. kempie says:

    agree on all points

  714. topher5468 says:

Dust off the golf clubs. They can put bags over their heads and get good tee off times.

  716. dpthehabsfan says:
3P 12:44: Best game of the series
    yup, no question
  717. twilighthours says:

Caps have the deepest group of forwards the league has seen in many years, and it shows more and more every game.

  718. Mike Boone says:

    What game are you watching?

  719. ooder says:

O’Byrne and SK74 palyed a very good game.

    expect them to be scratched.

nice to OB throwin his weight around,

Markov was palying like a man posessed but there is only so much he can do.

Price.. had a good game.. not outstanding but i am happy with his performance.

“I like what I’m seeing right now,” assessed Markov. “We’re not perfect, but we’re trying to be.”

  720. HabsBlogger says:

I like how lindy ruff coaches. Buffalo just gave up their 2 goal lead and he calls a time out to get his team back in order.

  721. Harditya_CareyPrice says:

I’d give Halak the game 5. This game just showed whether it’s Price or Halak we get a similar result.

Kudos to Price for an okay game after not playing in a long time. Knew he would be rusty.

    GO HABS GO!!

  722. HabsBlogger says:

I like how lindy ruff coaches. Buffalo just gave up their 2 goal lead and he calls a time out to get his team back in order.

  723. topher5468 says:

Are you efin serious, Anglo fans, JM is a joke I dont care where he is from. Nice time to pull the goalie on a face off. I think we won 5 all series. Please, That was the worst thing Ive ever seen

“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”

  724. sidhu says:

    topher = Jacques Martin

  725. habsoul says:

Do they really have to go to D. C.? Let’s just call it a series and avoid another drilling by the Caps.

Maybe some of the guys haven’t been to Ford Theatre yet.

Don’t you love being a tuneup for Washington before the real playoffs start?

  726. joeybarrie says:

3 shots on net. He will get one soon, just hope its SOON ENOUGH, so its not on the golf course.

There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…

  727. punkster says:

I used your indentured service statement below. I’ve officially had it with Price. Not the goaltender, the immature child.

By the way, I’ve cancelled my party and will attend yours instead. I’ll bring the ham.

  728. Perez162 says:

I will bookmark and continue reading your blog in the future! Thanks alot for the informative post!

  730. BC HAB says:

Hamrlik sucked the life out of the Habs.  I guess there is always next year. PLEASE GOD MAKE HAMRLIK DISAPEAR FOREVER.

  731. SeriousFan09 says:

Bulldogs leading Manitoba Moose 1-0 right now in the 1st period.

Captain of the Moose? One former Canadien some of you might know, Mike Keane. Coming up on his 43rd birthday in May, he has been playing in the A for the last 5 years.

    - I shall always remember Captain Koivu.

  732. andrewberkshire says:

He didn’t even look where he was shooting the puck Dave, the penalty was complete horse manure.

  733. zamboni says:

right in font of the ref.

  734. Miltie01 says:

The other coach thinks highly of our coach….so do many others who have spent their life in the game. Roger Nielson mentored him into the NHL. Maybe, just maybe his language is blinding you to his abilities É

  735. SuperStarz says:

Turning point Hamrlik letting in a short handed goal

  736. ManApart says:

I just want to give Gainey a final thumbs up and thank you for the great job he’s done on his second 5 year plan. Strange enough it reminds me of the first. Gainey’s bad decisions has and will continue to hurt this team for years to come. For those of you who continued to disagree with me all year, you now understand what i always saw but you couldn’t because of hope and faith. There is no doubt about that now.

  737. Connecticut Man1 says:

On the street, dude woulda been hauled in to the cop shop for mug shot there…

  738. punkster says:

Can you bring the potato salad please?

  739. sidhu says:

Cammy, that inside curl move is becoming predictable.  Just fire that baby!

  740. Paulin98C says:

Hamrlik blew this one…….. that SH goal was all they needed to spark it up. Roman has been horrible this whole serie. 5.5 millions? I supported Roman through all his rough patches during his time in Mtl… but now, I’m done. I really wish we get rid of him this offseason… but now who will take him? Waivers anyone?

  741. JIMVINNY says:

Another place Price kicks the crap out of Halak?  Playing the puck.

  742. Hockey Socks says:

The last time an 8th seeded Canadiens was down 3-1 to the 1st seed, they came back and won the series.

“I went to see a fight the other night…And A hockey game broke out!” ~Rodney Dangerfield~

  744. Keith says:

WOW! That’s unbelievable, and TOTALLY CLASSLESS of him to do such a thing, and his teammates to high-five him on the bench afterwords. Kinda like when he got upset at the woman with the camera, NO-CLASS OVIE shows his true colours. JERK-OFF!

  745. Aissa320 says:

Thanks for sharing the information. I am very amazed at the confidence level of you guys, so i have to refer your blog to my friends because it’s really a help full blog.

  746. Bill says:

Could someone who is a little more objective than me explain how that wasn’t a trip? Are the refs really hosing Montreal again?

    Full Breezer 4 Life

  747. spoonfullofjelly says:

I think this playoff series has shown alot of people (fans) that even though they hate on Price or Halak, that is not the real problem with the team. Our defence has been exposed time and time again this series.

  748. StevieRay says:

Great idea …. I am all for that .. lets buy out JM … just put the price of Molsonès beer up a a cent or two… allmproceeds to firing JM and hiring ,,, who

  749. Danyl9450 says:

  751. topher5468 says:

Sorry to those who though Pouliot played a good game, My only memory was him loafing on Ape mans 2nd goal. Great coaching by JM Pull the golaie on a face off, I mean we were just doing so well on those

“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”

  752. ooder says:

  753. Harditya_CareyPrice says:

    Yes Price! GO HABS GO!!

  754. sidhu says:

A broom is for a sweep, Boone.

  755. zamboni says:

how the hell you leave Knuble alone?

  756. SeriousFan09 says:

Nice save by Price, but why did Knuble have a giant bubble of personal space???

    - I shall always remember Captain Koivu.

  757. kempie says:

price fires the puck at the caps! someone coulda been killed!!!!!!!!!!!  ffs

  758. Tis Himself says:

Habs D is so weak it’s laughable.

  759. Miltie01 says:

Absolutely serious, the language thing is sickening. We have done a good job in this series. We are losing because the other team is just plain better, not because our coach isn`t named smith…….

  760. dicktracy says:

  761. mrhabby says:

Shout out to the Molson’s……Please do something for christ sake.

  762. Big Bird says:

The first round is not great.  But for the team we have right now it isn’t bad.

If you think I’m satisfied with just making the playoffs you don’t know me very well my friend.  I’m no Leafs fan! :)

  763. novahab says:

Hammer contract is over this year so he gone.

  764. JB_15 says:

Price, Plekanec, Obyrne to Columbus for Rick Nash and go from there.

  765. Harditya_CareyPrice says:

Hey hey both of them have their own pros and cons.

  766. aemarchand11 says:

We are just not good enough to play a 60 Minute game with Washington. We had our moments this game, but one goal against and we cant compete the next period. Great teams battle through that. Some tweaking in the off-season will help this team a lot.

-Halak it alot because the Price is right-

  767. Y says:

    Hamrlik has to go. Useless

  768. sidhu says:

Poti with a punch to the back of Metro’s head – no call.

  769. brysonom says:

just knew after the shorty this team would pack it in…goals in bunches for Wash all season cause this team sits there and feels sorry for itself…

Martin – I was one of the fools who thought you would be good for this team…oooooops

  770. StevieRay says:

so… why not put the price of a case of Molson export up 5 cents ….and have all proceeds go to buying out JM and Gomez !!!

  771. Connecticut Man1 says:

Last game was not so bad but tonight? About 4 calls that have to be made by a ref with eyes.

  772. HNS says:

Great way to shit da bed.

  773. StevieRay says:

    Nash .. no way !

  774. avatar_58 says:

For the love of god pleeeeease…..please hockey gods

  775. topher5468 says:

Seriously, I think his Language is your issue. Why is he a good coach, has he ever won anything, His Florida Panthers havent made the playoffs in years, that was his team.

“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”

  776. topher5468 says:

Thats funny Boone, hes not mentioned in your Blog, CSN guys havent said his name once, I guess My bad

“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”

  777. T-roy West says:

Your right but I am talking about last game. F**K seriously.

  778. badbalance says:

HALAK WAS GARBAGE!!! GARBAGE THE LAST 2 GAMES HE PLAYED, FACE REALITY MAN, YOU ON HALAK’s D*** TOO MUCH man, HE SUCKED,  8 goals on 26 shots? thats a fuckin joke. He has a lot of growing to do….

  779. T-roy West says:

Think about it dude. Look at the goals scored last game. First one he got knocked into his own net, second he was big time screened and the last…no chance. A lot of people blamed him so I’m just saying that that was worse. What’s wrong with that? I’m not picking on Price. It’s a shot to those that blamed Halak.

  780. joeybarrie says:

It has nothing to do with Price, Its just so annoyingly sickening and obvious that we jump all over the weak goalie on the first goal…………SAD

There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…

  781. Exit716 says:

What about the tying and winning goals in game two?

  782. T-roy West says:

First time that I did it. Check my posts. Halak didn’t let us down. That’s “my” point. It was a well deserved posts for the people who jumped on Halak.

  783. T-roy West says:

I give up. I don’t even know if you are talking to me or someone else, lol.

  784. WarHero says:

    No, i’m English, lol

  786. Mattee. says:

I’m still not sure why Sergei was bench. That guy plays with fire in his eyes and….

  787. SeriousFan09 says:

Hope Price comes back from that, but can’t say I love his body language in the game so far.

    - I shall always remember Captain Koivu.

  788. Bryan says:

The Habs are making me Bi-Polar.

  789. Exit716 says:

Hey McGuire. Was that a one and out play on your beloved Capitals?

  790. Harditya_CareyPrice says:

YES! Bodies in front of the net!

  791. Clay4bc says:

That was a weak goal…come on Price – get it together.

Well, at least the team did! Great effort!

Don’t argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference.

  792. sidhu says:

    Great shift after a goal.

    Dirty goal, all effort there.

  793. Habhopeful says:

Ya Baby! They scored we get one back! Dont stop till ya get enough oh ya!
