Eller scored twice for the Canadiens, who also got a goal from Brendan Gallagher.
James Van Riemsdyk and Dion Phaneuf were the other Leafs scorers.
Toronto outshot the Canadiens 38-36.
In the end a 5 on 3 goal was the difference.
Refs and the parros injury was deflating.
we came back strong. Its a long season.
We missed the net a lot on our chances.
couple of key errors. Not the end of the world.
Still really dislike the Leafs.
I just feel sick when this sh_t happens
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Updates, highlights & great discussions on all things Habs
Tough night / tough start to the season.
It was interesting to watch the crowd’s reaction to the extra pop certain Habs were showing … Moen, Tinordi, even Chucky.
Because he missed the pre-season, this was Parros’ first appearance in the new #15. Believe he was quoted as saying he thought he’d be OK out there … that fall was nasty, and may turn out to be a big blow for the team. Prust looked a bit deflated as he left the game.
Time for the vets to step up – already.
Chins up guys, chins up …
ALWAYS Habs –
Both teams made mistakes. Toronto got more bounces and the benefit of the refs.
Price plays like that he’ll win a lot more than he loses.
They played hard and defended themselves admirably.
No shame in my book.
This is gonna sound a little negative … but the Habs sucked tonight. That defence … so bad. And it was hard to notice the top two lines in a good way tonight.
Full Breezer 4 Life
Player of the game: Eller
Runner up: Price
Played well: Bourque, Gallagher, Galchenyuk
Played ok: Plekanec, Subban, Diaz
Not good: Markov, Briere
Invisible: Pacioretty, Desharnais
Runner up? Your crazy
Half breezer for one quarter of a life
Nope. He kept the game close with many key saves.
GET RID OF DD NOW!!
I support Carey Price
U can add Cube, Gorges, Markov & Pleks
Dat’s wha me tinks
☞ “The deepest sin of the human mind is to believe things without evidence” ~ Aldous Huxley ☜
U can add Cube, Gorges, Markov, Gio & Pleks
Can someone tell me why they had that piece of crap Briere on at the end of the fucking game
You know what would help? Stay out of the frigging box!
–Go Habs Go!–
Wouldn’t hurt. Also, fewer turnovers at their blue line (tinordi, markov, Diaz – all for goals) would be good
Eller came to play tonight…others did not…
Well, I guess the Habs won’t win every game this season. Go figure.
Jebus, there could have been 4 calls made on the leafs those last 2 minutes…
Man I hate the laffs.
Goodnight hab nation.
Lot of plays in that last minute could have been called
But a penalty call would have “broken the flow”, don’t you see?
Gah, sometimes I wonder…
How many penalties did the laughs get away with on the last shift?
wow… kessel trip.. phaneuf holding the stick… just off the top of my head.
They got away with massive interference all night.
The kids NOT ON AT THE END, Great job Terr, they did it all and you reward Briere
That was ridiculous. FFS
Briere could have be the extra attacker, but the kid line HAD to be on there.
everyone should quit their yanging – this is what the Habs are – very average, forwards are average ,,,and small, Price is Price, They will win their 35 games and fight for last playoff spot.
Nothing has changed from last 3 years.
No better no worse
Nothing I love better than being told what to do by an anonymous Internet dude.
They have gotten better, the trouble is, so has everyone else.
Its time to switch to whiskey, we’ve been drinkin’ beer all night
Way to go Eller!! Great effort on the shortie.
Ok, the kids still have some fight left in them!
Can we just play them out there please? Stop the veteran nonsense!
I knew Eller was better than DD. But he’s taking another step forward. Plekanec’s successor, no doubt.
Larry!……who did we give up to get him again?
Whoever it was, we won that trade
Comon boys.. I read comments about Eller today….whoever you were, you were right on the money!
Great Dane at it again. Bright spot of the night. Do it for George Larry
M-V-P!!! (Too early?)
On a positive note … ELLER! The new number-one centre.
His skating is friggin’ fantastic.
He’s on pace for 246 points this season!
Leafs have blown bigger games with less time to go… if I remember correctly.
Can we play Eller for the rest of the game?
Getting tired of seeing the leafs win at habs openers…
Habs back end really suffering…
Price finally playing well when the pressure is off and the game is done…who cares. TRADE HIM ALREADY!!!! HE SUCKS!!!! he never did anything for us in the playoffs for 5 years!!! Management is stupid!
Montreal will never win a cup with Price in goal ,Way overrated as you say what has he done in last five years. Has won one series I believe.
This site really does get taken over when the team plays poorly. Who are half the guys posting here tonight?
Is it really a surprise to see the Leafs outplaying us. They’re one of those teams. We typically play well against the Rangers, the Wings and the Bruins. Not so much against the Leafs.
Good on the EGG line tonight. I hope Parros is OK… That looked bad.
You got it. They really do come out of the wood work. Cockroaches, or termites
Price is the only one still playing.
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Habs defense is a farce…holy fuck…pathetic
Prust gets the extra 2…really? Refs just don’t like us do they.
And its not a penalty if the Leafs have an extra guy lol
The Habs have been outplayed, I won’t deny that. But te refereeing has really taken the wind out of the Habs. This isn’t even fun to laugh at anymore.
How the hell do you get a fighting penalty without dropping the gloves? Are these refs serious?
Prust might be injured too.
Eller line looks good. DD line loos bad and briere awful.refs were awful.
Diaz was horrible defensively. Tinordi had a bad pinch but got better.
Overshadowed all by Parros
“Keep your stick on the Ice”
Bad bounce, perfect shot, break away, unlucky two on one, and several great saves. Yeah, Price couldn’t stop a beach ball *rolls eyes*
Price terrific On the PK right now
and we end up with the penalty..of course
Weed Wacker Grandma Smurf
I guess the ref missed htat Toronto had 6 guys on the ice and one was fighting
Typical NHL! 81 to go
Nice to see Eller back on the PK
SIGH…….. Now the fight debate…. again.
At the end of the first fight Orr vs Parros I got the impression Orr pulled Parros towards the ice in much the same way he did it in the 2nd and got the result he was looking for.
DD IS TERRIBLE
Agreed. What is DD doing on our team ? I feel like Briere can do everything DD can. But better.
watching some of these players is nauseating… pleks, gio, bourque are awful and can’t hit the broad side of a barn, the 4th line was pretty good but now uh ya.
DD is as laughable as always.
Diaz and FB don’t really belong in the NHL.
Well here goes another one, this could have been a good game, but the fighting has spoiled it,what a load of rubbish, and because of it we lost our rythm.
I HATE FIGHTING
People relax – fighting is part of the game – it was a freak accident. Terrible to see yes, but it’s part of the game. You should be upset the DD and Gionta can’t win a battle and give up to easily. There are some positives…EGG has looked good but they were on the ice 10 mins or less through 2 periods – that’s less than a quarter of the game at that point for your best line of the night.
This game is done. On to game 2. E-G-G line played great. Looking forward to this all year.
One game doesn’t make the year. But it looks like we will still be rag dolled again this season.
Clearly we need MOAR FIGHTERS!!!
I.e. to replace the ones we lose as their faces get broken.
these guys on CBC are unbelievable..Fraser was just trying to leave the ice? Since when do they leave on the corners and take a player with them…
Prust not looking eager to fight eh? Wonder how his shoulder is.
Oh well. What’s another year of suckage ….
After 55 minutes!
This has been a particularly soul-destroying game though, no?
Wasn’t the greatest. But by my count the sun will still rise tomorrow, the week is half licked tomorrow, and there will be 81 more games after this one.
Agreed. It’s JUST a hockey game, but to lose to the Leafs at home in the opener… That smells bad.
PS; I know that it’s now 4-3, but I’m feeling deflated, and will not turn the iPad back on, even if the boys tie it up or go head.
will you bunch of panty waists stop whining about fighting. jesus…just shut up!
Wink! – Patrick Roy
Amen. Go watch tennis.
Yeah, I agree. Fighting rules!! Weeeeeeeeee!!!
Don’t tell me to shut up,if you want a fight with words,I’ll cut you to pieces, with my tongue, don’t take me on I’m a woman,so you can’t win.
GO HABS GO
Yes, more fighting please! Too many players didn’t get into the action tonight. What is this? The NFL? I love me some blood.
It just ain’t a Habs game without a couple injuries
One things for sure the Bell Center is an easy place for visitors to play in.
Carey Price is still the sieve he was last year. Looks slow..Except 4th goal not his fault. Markov? he’d lose a skating race to any of the Golden Girls, except maybe Bea Arthur.
Habs go out and sign a guy to help protect a team that can’t protect themselves and that happens…ah man.
Close the book on this one boys.
Agreed. After seeing Max and Lars on that ice, this was stomach-cshurning.
Agreed. After seeing Max and Lars on that ice, this was stomach-churning.
Me being an American, sure hope price gets the nod for team canada
I really don’t think you will get that wish.
Leafs looking like they want this one more…….go figure….home opener…the crowd….maybe it’s time to get rid of Therrien
I am no fan of Colton Orr, but he didn’t do that. He further showed some class the minute Parros crumpled.
Why is there still fighting?
Because the league wants it, hasn’t the financial testicles to trust in the great game itself.
True. Not Orr’s fault. Just a freak accident Orr showed some class by calling the trainer on the ice. Nice sportsmanship. We all hope Parros is OK.
Yay goons. No one gets hurt fighting. We r tough woo. Bullshit. Smarten up league. Is rather see people play hockey than be punched and bleeding.
the hamsters are tired
It’s encouraging to be the drive the Kids have out there. At least there is that to look forward to….
Each game should start with all the goons fighting each other, then let the real game start.
I can’t imagine a worse start of the season… Just wow.
Beyond the fighting, is our defense full of holes? Has MB traded Price yet? Just joined and am wondering what the pundits have to say on this first night…
Promote the Youth, Support From The Veterans and Remember the Heritage!
Defense is not good. Leafs have gotten some breaks on their scoring chances: the fourth goal was a pass that bounced back to the shooter as Price moved to play the pass, for instance.
The Habs haven’t looked good, not getting great chances in close, having a hard time in their own end.
Hmm… more time to gel I guess. Shame it didn’t happen for us on the home opener.
Same old shit team as last year..?.
Goal scored on CHI Crawford – Glove hand. I guess he sucks now?
Habs just cant win the battles!
Shorthand goal by leafs turns the tide….Price had make that save.
Markov needed to not F the play up.
Pick rolled he’s going forward, bozak the other way. The solution would be to have him bail on the face off win.
Did you see how excited the fans were because of that Orr vs Parros fight? Oh wait, they became eerily quiet as held their hands to their faces in shock hoping it was not too serious of an injury.
Had to turn off the sound. Go to hell CBC. I hope that Parros is okay. And I never want to see another fight in a hockey game again. AND I want the Habs to win this effing game tonight.
The Parros incident just made the game shit either way
I bet five bucks that the Toronto Sun is going to run a front page of Parros strapped in
Rally boys…..come back and win this one for George….
Poor George. That sucks man.
