So a guy tells his friend “I made a Freudian slip the other day.”
Friend says: “Freudian slip? What’s that?”
Guy says: “The Air Canada agent at the airport had immense breasts, and I asked for ‘two pickets to Titsburgh’.”
His friend says: “Oh, I had one of those. Yesterday at breakfast my wife asked me to pass the sugar and I said ‘You’ve made my life a f—ing misery’.”

hahaha, wow. I don’t know how i would recover from that. Much respect for handling it well.
I think it’s wrong to call it a Freudian slip. It was more like a Spoonerism. Bonne’s example (“2 pickets to Tittsburg”) is a classic Spoonerism, and not a Freudian slip – although the protagonist’s innermost feelings are betrayed when his wife asks for the sugar.
The thing which makes me believe that this was not Freudian is the word “way” which follows “right”. Pang transposed the ‘w’ of ‘way’ to the beginning of the previous word ‘right’ thus getting ‘wight or white’. It was an extremely unfortunate slip but I think it’s a leap to give it a Freudian context.
But what the hell do I know?

I say you’re right about Pang, but the first fellow in Boone’s example is still Freudian. The man notices the breasts as desirable, and verbally betrays his desire. The slip in this case also happens to be a Spoonerism!

Good catch on the definition of a “Freudian slip”. I don’t think Pang is a racist - he is one of the nicer guys on TSN – and I would hate to have someone from outside of hockey use this term to unjustly accuse him of racism. I hope that Pang doesn’t have to pay the price for this slip, he is one of the more objective guys on the panel in my opinion.

Its like some sick comedy but its true. Young gregarious well spoken , and talented black boy arrives on the scene confident eager to make a mark ,believing all things are equal.White bigotted media personalty dressed llike a mad hatter,uses his place in the national media to single him out , to caution him , about being toooo uppidy,warning him under threat of bodily harm , to get back in place . No one challenges the , parody of the great white plantation owner , and finally the boy is dragged to the wood shed for some education.Were told its for mistakes on the ice but others ruminate that its about accepting his proper place in the room. So when Panger has a freudian slip why are we suprized, the truth is out there.
Technically, while this reads like a Freudian slip, it isn’t one in the exact sense. It is defined as an error that reveals a thought from someone’s subconscious mind. Suggesting this is Freudian slip is to suggest Pang is a racist. I doubt that’s the case. It’s unfortunate for all involved…..and funny as hell anyway!
That happened to me once when I went in to get my glasses adjusted by a female optometrist. When she asked what was wrong, I meant to say that my glasses were cock-eyed but it somehow came out as cocks____ed. She was pretty understanding about it as we both had a laugh. God only knows how red my face must have been.
