First rumours

TSN begins its Trade Centre special with Marian Hossa hypotheses.

Bob McKenzie says the Ottawa Senators offer would include Antoine Vermette, Christoph Schubert and Nick Foligno.

Darren Dreger’s Montreal package: Michael Ryder, Maxim Lapierre and Mikhail Grabovski.

Other TSN notes before I turn off the TV and get on with my life for a couple hours:

• John Ferguson Jr. has a new hairdo.

• The countdown clock breaks seven hours down to seconds.

• Will James Duthie be funny all day?

• Does Peter Forsberg have a "mental issue" with his foot?

• I can’t take 6:45:30 more of Mike Milbury.

Eklund says Brad Richards to Dallas is done, TSN is saying Brian Campbell to San Jose.

    Campbell to Sharks, TSN says

  3. Joe Habsfan says:

Richards has been traded to Dallas

  4. J.T. says:

    That’s a bogus report…already debunked elsewhere.

    this is a joke . :)

Habs are giving him special privileges already?!

  8. moser17 says:

Hossa will not be at the Bell Centre this morning for practice. Lu qualifies says it’s Hossa’s privilege to take morning skate off. That’s odd.

  9. moser17 says:

I dunno, Barts, that was a pretty enjoyable interview … Janssen sounds like a good guy with a sense of humour … I like that Duthie “clarified” his earlier comment, for the sake of Cam Janssen’s parents, that this is indeed a blockbuster trade … lol

  10. Barts says:

TSN interviewing Cam Jannsen… what a scoop! *yawn*

  11. Barts says:

Something’s in the works; although he has been playing well, so who knows…

  12. wild flower says:

    Grabovski called up from Hamilton

  13. wild flower says:

Wow everyone is on edge – its been 15 years

  14. moser17 says:

Duthie: Habs called up Grabovski from Hamilton.

    NJ just got better

Bryce Salvadore to NJ is a good move for the Devils.

  18. tony d says:

you mean getting on in age? if he’s getting it on, then way to go AK!!

  19. moser17 says:

lol! If that’s a dig at my double-post, touché!

My computer has a lag, so I double-post too often. I modified the bottom one with Lu’s subsequent illuminating scoops.

our prayers are with the Zamboni

  21. RetroMikey says:

Being from Hamilton, I am sure Kyke Chipchura would step in finely in place of Maxim Lapierre!

The guy has really improved and on faceoffs since being sent down to Hamilton. I’d make the trade only if Hossa signs with us in the off season. Kovalev is getting it on with age and we need another sniper to lead us and the young kids for years to come.

“We will win the Cup only with Carey Price in the nets”

  22. Ian G Cobb says:

TELL US AGAIN.! TELL US AGAIN.!

  23. moser17 says:

John Lu: Hossa’s equipment is in the stall in the Thrashers’ dressing room, so as of now, Hossa is still a Thrasher.

  24. moser17 says:

John Lu: The Habs are a tight-knit group that has good chemistry no one wants to see broken up, so if someone comes up, it has to be someone with good chemistry, and no one wants to see a friend traded from the farm system … “that said, they *would* take a Marian Hossa!”

    lol!

  25. Ian G Cobb says:

This just in from Betmans office, the deadline has been extended until noon on Thurs. the 27th. Apparently they have to wait for a pathology report on the Bell Center Zamboni which is going to Atlanta as part of the Hossa deal if it passes the medical instead of giving up Obyrne and his purse.

  26. J.T. says:

Breaking news: Hossa’s agent seen buying a new suit, while talking animatedly on a cell phone. Discuss.

Ryder and Grabs in the Hossa deal, yes.

Mad Max in there? No. At least I hope not. Send them Gui! Gui! instead.

  29. moser17 says:

Milbury: [10:10am] “There’s never activity right now, there’ll be a flurry of activity between 1 and 3 o’clock.”

    TSN: “Shut up, Mike.”

  30. arcosenate says:

All these former general managers…it’s kind of funny. Ferguson, Jr. and Milbury are the experts? Experts at creating an unholy mess of a team. They should have the Jolly Green Giant on TSN, maybe Finnigan…

  31. tony d says:

Hossa was spotted in the hallway wearing flannel Habs pajamas…
    discuss amongst yourselves

  32. moser17 says:

why am I still in my pajamas?

  33. Les-Habitants says:

I heard there were fruits, possibly a melon, as a side dish…it’s official, I have three sources close to the bell boy who brought up the room-service.

WHY AM I WATCHING TSN THIS EARLY IN THE MORNING???

  34. tony d says:

this just in, Marian Hossa ordered room service…waffles with extra maple syrup
    you read into it….
(just thought I’d throw that in for a larf)

  35. tony d says:

John Fergusson does not have a new hairdo, he’s just taken to carrying a pet ferret on his head

  36. Blitzen says:

I’d like to see the Laffs trade whatever youth they have left to get Brad Richards, then give him a 10-year extension with a NTC.

  37. moser17 says:

THIS JUST IN: Darren Dutchyshyn’s mike was off during the broadcast. Duthie brought it to his attention, and the situation has now been rectified.

  38. moser17 says:

Can James Duthie be funny all day?

    No.

His humor is veiled aggression, and as the day goes on, he’ll wear down a bit, grow more impatient and he’ll start to be less funny and he’ll say things that are more mean, barbed and sarcastic.

  39. likehoy says:

wade belak to the panthers for a 5th rounder!!

the blockbuster all leafs fans were waiting for!!

he might not be mats sunding…but i think belak can centre the number 1 line in florida….making ollie jokinen available for a trade :)

  40. Jay in PA says:

Okay, this thread was my first chuckle for the day.

  41. showey47 says:

i can only hope you mean dump as a metaphor.

  42. Naila Jinnah says:

    LOL! Agreed!

  43. Odie Cleghorn says:

Just in …the carpet wasn’t clean after all…someone pulled the rug over an “unidentified sportcaster” just to break the story…in fact dust bunnies were spotted in the corner of the pressbox!

  44. tony d says:

no but it has a sanity clause…..wait a sec, everyone knows there’s no such thing as a sanity claus

  45. grimmreaper says:

John Lu did not answer that question when asked by Duthie.

  46. nick says:

Hahaha… thats what their busy trying to figure out.

  47. J.T. says:

Ha! I’m not even watching it! I didn’t know Duthie asked that question.

    http://habsloyalist.blogspot.com

  48. showey47 says:

Does the carpet have a no clean clause?

  49. J.T. says:

If it does and refuses to waive it, get ready for everyone to dump on the carpet for being selfish and disloyal.

  50. Dan23 says:

Campbell to Sharks for Steve Bernier. Great trade for SJ.

  52. grimmreaper says:

Just heard John Lu from TSN live from MTL. He said there was a rumour that the Canadiens were cleaning the carpet at the press gallery to announce a trade….

These rumours are getting funnier by the minute…

  53. J.T. says:

So, is the carpet clean, or is it only *rumoured* to be clean?

Miller Huet to Capitals for a Second Round Pick!!

  56. 9410 says:

I don’t think it was com firmed, I think Miller said he’s heard it from everybody but the teams and league. If so, I don’t think we got enough, but I don’t think were done.

  62. Joe Habsfan says:

I think Grabs has to be part of a deal to get Hossa

Mr. Boone – The irony of Mike Milbury commenting on and analyzing NHL trades is beyoond belief.

    The Original 24 Cups

  64. J.T. says:

Not to mention John Ferguson. Commenting on the Sundin situation?? That’s beyond bizarre.

    http://habsloyalist.blogspot.com

  65. showey47 says:

having him and jfj in the same room giving their “trade analysis” shows how little qualifications you need to work at tsn.

  66. J.T. says:

Arrrgggh! I wish it were 4:30 Newfoundland time already. I strongly believe the players’ crap performance in the last two games has at least SOMETHING to do with this deadline frenzy. I expect when it’s all over, they’ll come out with relief and excitement tonight…especially if none of their buddies have been traded.

    http://habsloyalist.blogspot.com

  67. I am Canadien says:

As soon as I saw JFJ talking on TSN I turned off my TV and got on with the day. Milbury is a piece of work as well so between them; TSN will capture the lower IQ Hockey viewing population.

I honestly hope we do NOTHING. I am willing to go the balance with what we have. the current cast has good skill and speed. If we can go to the second round this year; UFA may take notice of MTL and consider signing here and we wouldn’t have to give up as much. It’s a theory.

    Enjoy the day!

  68. Exit716 says:

Chris Gratton is too slow to play in the league anymore. He’s only on Tampa because they need players to fill out the roster after the big four.

  69. Barts says:

LOLOL! One hour into talking about absolutely nothing on the two major Canadian networks… oh hold on, sorry, add The Score into that equation as well. This is pathetic, but for some reason… can’t…look…away…

  70. mjames says:

WFAN in New York reported this morning that some NHL sources (????) have told them that Houssa is headed to Montreal and I think Richards is going to the Wild.

The Rangers fans are concerned if Montreal gets Houssa. It is funny how insecure each team’s fans are, including the Habs fan.

If this is true I hope Gainey does not overpay for a rental. I keep on having visions of the Recchi for LeClair/ Desjardins trade and the Chelios/Savard trade not to mention the Mr. Roy trade.

I hope Gainey has a plan if he gets Houssa.
