Sorry, it just that the team has made some changes over the summer, so now’s the time to see how the Habs will fare against a vengance team like Pittsburgh.
Price was a RFA with no arbitration rights. So even coming off a heroic season, the club could have signed him for $2.5 million to $3 million for one year. That tells Price: “OK, do it again and cash in big time.” They could then sign Pleks as well. Come July 1, 2011, if Price has another monster year he gets the huge $$$ … which they can afford with Hamrlik and Gill coming off the books … depending on what it will cost to keep Markov and Gorges.
About the Ice at Console Energy Center – by Shelly Anderson
The Flyers didn’t much care for the quality of the ice at Consol Energy Center Thursday. Montreal, the Penguins’ second opponent, practiced there today and offered mixed reviews — team captain Brian Gionta called it “a little soft,” but defenseman Hall Gill said it was good. Then again, Gill is closer to a sycamore than a smooth skater.
The Penguins have had their issues with the ice at the new arena, but they have been careful to be politically correct because so much about the CEC is first-class. Still, they are quietly saying the ice needs to get better since they are a team that has its share of skill players who can fly.
“The ice is a flux situation, and it always will be,” Penguins coach Dan Bylsma said today, pointing out that things such as changing weather affect the ice conditions. “It’s never great for long periods of time. They’re always working on it.
“The first couple of days [of training camp] were not great. They’ve come a long way in making it a lot better since the beginning of training camp.”
I’m not optimistic about tonight. Our defence is very vulnerable, and breakdowns are likely to end up, as they did on Thursday, in the back of our net. Our dismal powerplay is a huge problem, since we don’t score much 5-on-5. Until Markov comes back, we’re going to have a tough time winning games, and I fear there’ll be lots of one-goal losses as there were early last season. I just hope we can find a way to stay with the pack until Markov’s return.
But even with Markov (and Hamrlik), I’m not happy about our defence and would like to see an upgrade somehow. Gorges is probably our most reliabvle defenceman, Gill’s season form is nothing like his playoff form, Spacek has been terrible, and the pairing of O’Byrne and Picard is frankly scary. What’s happening with Mathieu Carle? He was fairly reliable the couple of games he played with us last year.
Who’s they??? Nuck fans and local media doing their Laff impression??? Yours is a typical response from a narrow minded and half empty minded person to a very interesting question followed by a thoughful and introspective reply. Way to add no substance to the discussion as usual X.
Mr. Xtra, I respond to you wearing my rose-coloured glasses. Price was never going to be traded. Never. PG along with many GMs know his value even if you don’t. 2 reasons. 1) He will be stellar for the habs. 2) You do not give your enemies a loaded gun with the barrel pointed towards you. A kid like Price, on a better team, would have already won a cup and conceivably a Vezina, therefore blocking this team from cup glory for a long time.
They would only trade Price if he asked for one, or in about 10 years when he’s still good for other teams but not a threat.
Losing Wideman will hurt them badly. Much has been made of their forward and with good reason, but nobody has been looking at their defensive depth at all and Chara can’t do everything by himself.
All those viewing the Bruins as a goaltender also seem to think Rask is a career .924 goaltender right out of his rookie season which would incidentally make him the best goalie in NHL history.
I agree with you on the terms of what each player means to their team (Montreal needs Markov more than Boston needs Chara), but I think they are very comparable as far as world-class talent they bring to the rink – even if they are different skill-sets
First of all you guy are delusional if you think they couldn’t keep Halak and trade Price instead to acquire Eller and by the way by not signing Darche you almost have the monetary difference. And as for Carey …Yes he made a couple of good saves vs the Marlies but we lost to a CRAP TEAM.And Price is no Giggy and Giggy is what the Habs need. The Habs management better start TO GET THERE HEADS OUT OF THEIR RESPECTIVE ARSES and admit there trying to TANK the year to the fans….Where’s our McIntire,Where’s our Goaltending,Where’s our De fence and Where’s our Big Proven Center. I live next to the Vancouver Nucks and they all predict the Nucks too take it all! Why is this NOT THE CASE WITH THE HABS??? Tonite is goinna show all you crazy fans what’s really up and YOU are going to be Pissed at games end….get ready to up grade your ROSE COLOURED GLASSES ,I heard they come in 3-D now ,lol
One word: Truculence……Burke is a meathead. His failure as Leaf GM will be defined by the Kessler trade, Komi contract, and the soon to be seen failure of the Monster. They are years away from a playoff position.
Just curious, how does his shoulder problems explain why he constantly and consistantly takes brain-numbingly stupid penalties? His only redeeming quality was shot blocking, he sucks offensively and defensively. I really think Burke threw all that money at him just because he was a hab and the fact that he is American. Burke is also a hypocrite for calling out other GM’s for driving up player salaries, yet that is exactly what he did giving Komi that obcene contract.
That is one terrible contract. I’m looking forward to see what happens next time he has to face Lucic. I’m sure Lucic wants to kick his butt after Komi decided to take his head off in game 4 against the Bruins in 2009.
Wow. Versus is promoting all the third rate goons signed by Eastern Conference teams. Wow. Can you tell that Versus is somewhat controlled by the troglodytes that own the Flyers? What a joke.
No. But if Price had succeeded in the regular season and had a great playoff run, Halak would have been buried as the number-two goaltender and therefore of little trade value. With no bargaining power, Jaro probably would have signed for Alex Auld money and stayed.
IMHO there are about 4 teams who are a lock for a playoff spot being the caps, pens, devils and whoever wins the northeast. Then there teams who should finish at the bottom 3 like the islanders, panthers, and leafs. Leaving the other 8 to be a crapshoot depending on players meeting expectations and staying healthy.
Agreed. 3 breakaways on a defensive minded Julien coached team is not going to make him very happy. BOS could be a playoff bubble team. PHX looks fast! 4-0
“People build teams in certain ways. I’ve always traded for futures – not pasts.” – Sam Pollock
He’s had shoulder problems for at least 3 years from what i remember. Considering his game is solely based on being physical and shot blocking you would have to wonder if he is even going to make it to the end of his contract. I still wish gainey had traded him at the 2009 draft though. I feel it was a very good oppurtunity missed.
Question for you mr. boone. The other day when you posted that the habs traded halak to be able to sign pleky (which i totally agree with). In your opinion,do you think price would have been traded if he was the one who had the regular season success that halak had and the same playoff run while halak struggled? Not trying to throw a loaded question at you, just looking for an opinion from someone who gets alot closer to the players and management then we do.
The only thing that worries me about that is the injuries he’s sustained. Three rather long injuries in the past two now three seasons is slightly unsettling, especially as he gets older and he becomes more fragile.
I agree. I’m also not a fan of Schenn, I see that kid make lot’s of mistakes. He’s like Komi lite. Leafs are a team thats easily beaten if you are a good coached team.
what’s with the roughing call on gorge? looked like crosby swiped gills leg to start all this. where’s the call on this. i haven’t the luxury to watch many games, so i don’t know too much about ‘the crosby effect.’ guess i just have. god bless the internet.
strange how Galley always makes a point to say Comrie’s high stick was accidental……didn’t look any more accidental than every other high stick I’ve seen
2009-2010 most shots faced by a goalie in the 2009/2010 season: Carey Price against Nashville (!) with a save %age of 0.963. He lost the game, 0-2. I am not saying Halak did not play great. The next 6 highest SA are Halak, and he won, (although 3 of them in OT/SO). The next series of games above 40 shots are Carey Price, losing by one goal or two on the empty netter.
The problem is not and has never been the goalie. The real question about the Halak trade is whether we got what we needed. Jacques Martin’s game de-emphasises the goalie.
All I see is a lot of media selling advertising and fans being led around by the nose.
I think this what we are going to see most of the season. Win some close ones, lose some close ones. If Jacques ever lets them really skate and forecheck like Guy Boucher would have they will have a little more breathing room in games. Price will get better all season long but the Martin ‘sit back and hope system’ will continue to put a ton of pressure on him just like it did on Halak in playoffs last year.
Even the Hab hating Pens homer announcers were talking about all the spectacular saves Price made, yet you, a supposed Habs fan, are saying that his 36 saves, against the Pens( Crosby and Malkin), were “routine.” You are most definitely a HATER, through and F’en through!!!
I can’t stand Cherry and I love P.K., but….I DO NOT LOVE his “punk” attitude. Wise-up and realize that if P.K. keeps running his mouth, he will be a marked man. Why doesn’t he emulate a class guy like Georges. Just play the game P.K. and stop acting like you are from Toronto.
I saw Price slide cross-crease three or four times and make very nice saves… were u watching the Sens play instead? Maybe you were watching Leclair? Maybe?
He scored 47 goals in his last year in the WHL and got 11 once in calgary – He might not be the “Wayne Greztky of the 4th liners” like Metro, but damn! All ’round player.
Is it in bad taste to make a “What do you get when you cross two Jews with a Mexican” joke that ends with the punchline of “A win against the Penguins”?
as i stated earlier in the day this team will have tons of games that are like this…if we won many of them we can end up with 100 points…but just as easily we can loose many games like this than we end up with 80 points…100 point or 80 point season would not suprise…you cannot have plecks taking key face offs 2/3 he lost badly
wooo! Glad that softie by Price wasn’t a nail in the coffin and that we could bounce back with a solid W.
Great game from Cammalleri. Liked what I saw from kostitsyn and pouliot tonight. Both were checking hard and pouliot was forechecking aggressively. Price was extremely solid except for that 2nd goal which i guarantee he would like back.
Gionta seemed invisible all game.
Gomez needs to learn to shoot more. 1 shot on goal in 2 games is no good in my opinion. But im happy he rocked the GWG.
I was terrified when OB had a broken stick in our defensive zone
Great finish, very important win. I am happy for the team and for Crosby. Seriously, is there a worse shooter than Gomez among top 6 forwards in this league? I can´t think of one, yet he should shoot more often…
WOW..cant believe we pulled that off….Thank Kostitsyn for keeping that in on the blue line that led to the tying goal. Gomez’s goal was awful but I’ll take it. Price played amazing but he could have had that second goal.
turning point for price? we will see…but he looked like the goalie we had in his first 18 months…the pp will be vey important for this team…a well deserved win but the odds of it happening regularly like this is slim…once we get pp going than we would have won 5-2…

Not pretty, but we’ll take it! I loved this line from the radio Play-By-Play in the dying minute: “…and Gill goes into the corner, and takes three Penguins with him…” A large fellow, that Gill is…

Well… I was able to only watch the first period. But I did see Price make a great save against Crosby. Not a dying seconds game saving type of save, but a great save none the less.
Gotta love the “glad he got the win, but what about that softie” posts. You guys are rich. If it wasn’t for some huge saves (including the one on Crosby) it’s at least a 5-1 game and their two late goals don’t mean squat.
carey price out played marc fleury tonight. atta boy carey. fleury let in the game winning softie. price is a nominee for the number one star, or number 2 behind cammalleri, the penguin slayer. awesome finish. really exciting game. back and forth, much like against the leafs, when the habs look really good, and sometimes really horrible. picard and o’byrne were a little scary, and at times seem a little out of synch, but price was totally there tonight. total game by him.
p.k. say what you will, he has some poise, even when the crowd was on him hard, he didn’t flinch. boyd moen and pyatt played well tonight. i don’t know how many minutes eller played, but i didn’t hear his name too much. probably because we had so many penalties. that still needs to be addressed. but the penalty killers played well. go habs go!
The best part of Carey’s game tonight was he didn’t do all that warm up puck handling stuff he tried last year, He just stopped the MF puck. Way to go Mr. Price!
The funny thing is, we had no business winning that game. On the back of a rare top notch performance from Price and a couple fluke goals we somehow stole a couple points.
If that’s what my fellow Habs fans want to watch all year, all the more power to them. I would like to see this team a real contender based on merit. Still waiting. These last two games show that little has changed from last year. So far anyways.
Don Cherry just went off about PK after the game, saying he needs to show more respect and stop talking crap or hes going to get hurt a lot more…they used a clip of him talking sh*t to Crosby as an example…they forgot to mention that Crosby tried to take his head off with a shoulder to his head 30 seconds before.
Maybe we can let Price just play for a couple of games without doubting him after this quality win which was mainly due to his solid play. In the long run keeping him will be seen as the right choice.
A loser with integrity….good luck with that! If it was Halak in net instead of Price your story would change. If you can’t admit to that then you have no credibility
2-for-2 so far – he went off on Price in the first game. Maybe next he’ll rip on Brian Gionta for not doing the same amount of community service as Saku Koivu did when he was captain. Perhaps it’ll be a swipe at “Pletonik” for some weird reason.

People think Shiloh and TripleX are trolls? Nah guys, THEY ARE TRUE FANS. They give credit where it’s due and they support the team. They have every right to criticize Price when he isn’t at the top of his game. And today they praised him.
Now, I hate pointing out people, but cmon Xtrahabsfan, what’s the hate for? And habs youngtimer?
What I’m really glad for is that Price’s game-saver games FINALLY saved the game. So many times last year he never ended up getting the support save after great save. Hopefully he’s starting to feel like he’s no longer “cursed.”
If not for Price, we don’t win tonight. There would have been no chance.
Penguins fans don’t like hockey players that play hard and dont’ dive, whine, and complain to the officials. Plus, PK was pretty awesome in the playoffs last spring.
If someone else has fired this salvo, before, I apologize. However: I read a lot of posts in the off- and pre-season to the effect, “Why in the world did we sign Boyd and Halpern?”
So much to be happy about, why focus on the negative. Cammy, PK and Pricey all played like stars. Its still early and The Pens wanted revenge and a first win in their new home. I thought we held our own, yes we could do some things better but how many games did we lose the same way last year. 3-2 habs win. Smile
Sooooo… do you think if we all raised enough money we could buy Cherry a regular suit? Something simple. maybe a nice shade of black, that would be new.
I am not a hab hater. they are my team, and always have been.
but let’s face it. Price has cost the habs in almost every game he’s played.
if Fleurry doesn’t let in that horrible softie from Gomez, we’re now in OT or a shootout. agreed?
Price did play well, but I didn’t see any spectacular saves. I saw saves that were routine, and shots he should stop. I’m not convinced from 1 game. If he plays 10-20 great games, then yes I’ll give me thumbs up.
I couldn’t believe that bastard said that. Very sick old man for sure. His comment was very disturbing to say the least. Even McLean tried to shut him up on that one. Sick bastard and should be taken off the air for such dribble.
Dude ,Price is gonna have to do a lot more than choke in the 3`rd to win me over…He had a good game not a great game and that`s the difference between a man crush and a fan!;)
Excellent game. My boy Price was good and my boy Benny is still tied for 1st with pts and has a +2 rating despite a meager 12:30 minutes of icetime per game. Poor Eller’s just gonna have to wait for an injury for his first real shot.
What if fleury….yeah but……maybe when……..lmao,your embarrassing yourself, yet again. Those routine saves you claim you saw will be on tsn’s honour role or highlight of the night.
The Penguins depth is questionable enough to give the Habs a decent chance of winning, unless Crosby and Malkin can go Globetrotters on the Habs decimated D. Captain Obvious out!
Benny always seems to be a step behind the play when he’s going to the net. He needs to leart to anticipate a little better… and to skate a little harder, too.
PK has to learn to pick his spots a little better when going out his way to throw the big hit. He stepped into somebody there and it almost turned into 3 on spacek which is even worse then a 3 on 1.
Big game for Price. He doesn’t have to stand on his head – just give the team a chance to worm out a win or regulation tie. It will be difficult. Even if we lose in a good effort but still get solid goaltending, we can build on that.
There was a fair bit of argument about Pouliot after last game. I like Pouliot and think he can be a very useful player, but if Eller keeps up his great play it will be hard to keep him off the top two lines. Unlike some others here, I thought AK46 played a good game in the opener – lots of jump, good passing and at least one good scoring chance.
It looks like Darche is slated to sit. I like Darche – and his salary. He doesn’t provide electrifying play, but he brings the same to every game whether it’s pre-season or Game 7 of the playoffs. He is a great example to all the younger players of never taking a shift off.
Gomez and Gionta - would it be better for a banger to play alongside of them? That’s not a knock on Pouliot, who could break out, just a question.
they do need someone who can muck it up in the corners, and I really wish pouliot would be that guy, but he has only shown glimpses of battling for the puck.
Pouliot is suppose to be the ”banger” on that line. We all praised his hands and how he complements that line with his size. Now look at him. Can’t get a shot on goal.
Like I said on the other page Pouliot is #57 because he has more flavours than Heinz has sauces. He can be
like hot mustard but lately he’s benn bland and unexciting. Like anyone, a bit
of confidence and a few goals could put the jets back into Benny.
Not that we approve of Laps taking that crap without dropping his gloves but if a player doesn’t want to fight he doesn’t drop the gloves. However there must come a time when Laps will have to put his fists where his mouth is.
Remember when some Penguins ass clobbered Saku behind the net, and Souray came and pounded the guy? He got 2, 5, and 10 for it. The rules don’t apply equally to Sidney’s team, however.
Kris Letang, Brooks Orpik, Alex Goligoski and newcomers Paul Martin and Zbynek Michalek are not Dion and the Belmonts.
_____________________
Come on Boone!!
I get that the Penguins are better in pretty much every category, but the defense comparison is really kind of a wash. Dion and the boys really can be, and will be, tougher to play against than Pittsburgh’s D. Pittsburgh has their own issues, with their D being one of their main ones!
Chacun a son gout, but I’d take Pittsburgh’s D over Toronto’s. Just watch the season the underrated Paul Martin has in comparison to the overated Dion Phaneuf.
Ah, I’d forgotten how much I love Jacques and his system. Get outshot and outplayed. Rely on your goalie and luck. Put your head between your knees, brace for impact, and kiss your a** goodbye.
Very bad. Price, who has been stellar this year, does the “down to the knees” trick. In that position, he has no chance. He plays so well when he doesn’t go to his knees as a first move – but he slips back into it almost by nature.
Eller is experiencing something all young players have trouble with, consistent high level play. But what is the excuse for Gomez and Gionta? Not impressed. Pouliot is not getting much help out there.
Umm, I understand the butterfly. Butterfly goalies go down with their legs splayed. Price, when he’s off, goes to a full-church kneel. He has been superb this year – not trying to be overly critical. In games where he doesn’t go vertically down like that he’s tough to beat.
I feel that Pouliot has his head in the clouds at times. Let’s take Gionta’s breakout pass for example. It was on the mark but Pouliot wasn’t looking and he ended up missing it. It’s these little things make the different between winning and losing. P.S. Powerplay!
I wouldn’t get too excited. The Montreal Canadiens game relies on special teams. All things being equal the Montreal Canadiens will win four out of seven games (not much of a margin when you think about it, but enough) based on special team production.
Markov makes the powerplay click. In over two season’s the Montreal Canadiens have not been able to replace Markov as the catalyst of their powerplay. No Markov = no 4 of 7. No 4 of 7 = no margin of victory. The team will lose more than win until Markov comes back. That is why Markov comes back so early from injury (and gets hurt again). Otherwise it is all bounces to wins, and out thought to losses.
Is it just me, or does the pace seem a little slow?
There’s no sustained pressure in either end – all back-and-forth hockey usually means lots of excitement, but it’s as if the rushes in both directions lack any real urgency.
He’s the reason (albeit accidental) that Jordan Staal’s not playing for the Pens right now. Stepped on his foot in last year’s playoff, severed tendons, now the foot’s infected, etc.
I know Gomez isn’t a big hitter, but I’ve now seen him twice let a Penguin player skate slowly away from him with the puck, without laying a check, without putting his stick out, nothing…
So far the game is all about Price and the refs. Price is holding the Habs in it while the refs dish out successive penalties to the good guys. Conspiracy? I will say yes, as I understand the word.
Gomez: by the time his contract expires, I am sure I will have cried $35 000 000 worth of tears. It’s just depressing how little he does for the money he takes up. Come on: if Brian Burke had traded decent prospects for that stiff and his unreal contract, would we not UNANIMOUSLY be laughing at the Leafs for it? Defend Gomez and you are no better than a Leafs fan.
Subban is all that and then some.
Crosby is a brilliant player but possibly the most classless player I have ever seen.
He will. And I pity the fool who thinks PK would be a pushover. I would love for a guy like Matt Cooke to drop with PK. PK would tune him up real quick.
He disrespects the #11 he wears on his back every time he takes the ice and puts in one of these performances. He’s 2-for-2 so far in spitting in the face of Koivu, Muller, Walter, et al.
I hate that the refs show him favouritism. *Every* player yaps, and every player wants the refs to see it their way. That’s not blameworthy. It’s when the refs cave in to that junk that we should get (justifiably) mad.
Our D is just terrible! We need markov, hammer, and now PK back ASAP! How many chances to clear there, and they lose thee puck and we take a dumb penalty.
__________________________
I may disapprove of what you say, but I will defend your right to make yourself look stupid.
O’Byrne behind the net had a ‘deer in the headlights’ moment that kept them from clearing the puck, and it almost cost them… c’mon Rhino, you’re better than that!
obyrne and gill together more scary than any horror movie…good solid period…looks like martin conceding that if we dont score on the pp with the first unit we play the second unit just not to give up a short handed goal…they might get the odd pp goal but with picard and gorges on the second unit success rate will be less than 10%
The crowd boos because of the double minor, useless morons, but cheers the fixed Crosby call against Gorges. And so my disgust for the Pittsburgh Penguins continues from where it left off last year.
I’m not getting that either. Galley’s blathering about how astute the refs are about noticing Price doesn’t have a mask on – well did they not somehow notice how that happened???
I agree, I think he is a GREAT guy. He plays this stupid character and I don’t love that, but he gets the ratings and does a good job. LOTS of good work with soldiers and cops and such….
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
Crosby punches Gill while defenseless, gets nothing, Gorges pushes him while he’s standing, insta call, I call BS on that. Otherwise, great period, good to see Plecks and Cammy clicking again. Price has been fantastic, I hope he can keep it up for 2 more periods.
nice play by pleks (fantasy points for me). cammy, welcome, welcome back. carey’s played very well, making a hi-lit save off a crosby, goal destined one-timer. fantastic. boyd had a nice opportunity having been sprung by a nice pouliot pass. i didn’t see too much of eller. subban did took a nasty, albeit inadvertent high stick by comrie, who fought lapierre earlier in the period. p.k. left very quickly. hopefully he’s okay. the crowd’s been on him for some reason. hope he responds in kind.
p.p. stinks. did i see gill trying to deke down low. was he supposed to be a screen? that experiment is over. penguins ended strong, the boys were running around in the d zone in the last fifteen seconds.
That PK SUBBAN is a crappy dirty and classless player. GHe wouldn’t let Crosby run wild in the playoffs last year, and CINDY’S fans don’t like it when you don’t leave CINDY alone to scoe goals…
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
What in the flying f*** did we get a penalty for at the end of the period? Looking at Cindy the wrong way? and what was the Gorges penalty? He touched Cindys shoulder? I HATE the Penguins so much I can barely even watch the games.. Hope PK is okay..
That is why it sucks to be a goalie. Price made some huge saves and kept the Habs in the game at certain critical points. Then he lets in a questionable goal and it all is forgotten. He has played well enough to win if the Habs could convert.
I really don’t see any value in Picard. He may be steady with the puck, but that is two games in a row that he was a spectator on back side coverage. Against the Leafs he was by himself in the far corner instead of coming in to cover on the deflection, giving up the goal. On that goal he was late covering the shooter and did not take him at all.
It is easy to be steady if you don’t do anything.
On another note, I think I am going to order a #15 sweater and have “3rd Centre” put on the back. It is best not to get attached.

Cool. Wish the Habs luck!
understood, but lets just see what happens, cool beans?
Do you want Gauthier’s job?
give me 5 hours. Although disproving something you pulled out of your A** is hard for anyone to do.
I don’t meant to instigate, but really, that line begs for retort
5-2 Pens. Prove me wrong.
Mike, I think that Price will see something in the 35-40 range.

PK!

So is Robert Lang a UFA? I miss Lang
Hopefully our speed will be our advantage. I say Cammy gets a goal and assist tonight.
Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.
ROTFLMAOBBQ!
Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.
Losing Wideman will hurt them badly. Much has been made of their forward and with good reason, but nobody has been looking at their defensive depth at all and Chara can’t do everything by himself.
All those viewing the Bruins as a goaltender also seem to think Rask is a career .924 goaltender right out of his rookie season which would incidentally make him the best goalie in NHL history.
they do in this case..
btw- nice avatar.. i miss the ‘spos!
I agree with you on the terms of what each player means to their team (Montreal needs Markov more than Boston needs Chara), but I think they are very comparable as far as world-class talent they bring to the rink – even if they are different skill-sets
Great response.
Tonite is goinna show all you crazy fans what’s really up and YOU are going to be Pissed at games end….get ready to up grade your ROSE COLOURED GLASSES ,I heard they come in 3-D now ,lol
guess i spoke too soon.. scoring will come from…. horton… that is all
I agree I guess, but on the other side of the equation, Markov > Chara by quite a margin.
Great answer, Boone!!
But it begs, the question…..does Price get the same raise and if not do we still sign Pleks?
Leaving the other 8 to be a crapshoot depending on players meeting expectations and staying healthy.
agreed, D is really bad and where is the scoring going to come from without savard and sturm… i figured boston a shoe in for division
I was just a speed post directed at the Price critics. BOS D does look bad. Julien may not last the season.
wish the habs were playing boston tonight…. terrrrrrrrrrrrrrible….. and i have rask in my fantasy pool
beauty goal,4-0 yotes.
Agreed. 3 breakaways on a defensive minded Julien coached team is not going to make him very happy. BOS could be a playoff bubble team. PHX looks fast! 4-0

i think rask is playing really really well, has stopped 2 or 3 breakaways. boston looks terrible
That goal was the 3rd breakaway given up by the bruins. After chara, their D i feel is very average.
Great question, Showey!!
“People build teams in certain ways. I’ve always traded for futures – not pasts.” – Sam Pollock The reason we are Hab fans http://www.habsworld.net/article.php?id=1476
PHX 3 – BOS 0 – I guess Rask sucks too

2-0 yotes over bruins halfway through the 2nd,game is on tsn.
what was his excuse for sucking before the shoulder surgery?
Question for you mr. boone. The other day when you posted that the habs traded halak to be able to sign pleky (which i totally agree with). In your opinion,do you think price would have been traded if he was the one who had the regular season success that halak had and the same playoff run while halak struggled? Not trying to throw a loaded question at you, just looking for an opinion from someone who gets alot closer to the players and management then we do.
I love gorges but comon hes no comparable to chara
The torch be yours to hold it high!
To be fair, he’s still coming off shoulder surgery. But yeah, not nearly worth what he’s making.
tsn reports komi has been moved down to the leafs 3rd defensive pairing, lol.
The only thing that worries me about that is the injuries he’s sustained. Three rather long injuries in the past two now three seasons is slightly unsettling, especially as he gets older and he becomes more fragile.
I’d be ok with that. I think we may be able to get him for 6 or 6.25, but 6.5, providing he has a decent year, would be fair!
“I’ll take potent potables for 500, Alex” JB
Depends, if he can make it through the season without another major injury I guess.. aslong as we can keep Gorges too

I don’t get it. Is Pittsburgh nowadays the most important hockey city in the NHL? Or why do they have different rules than the other teams?

When you don’t score on the power play the opposing team will continue to take liberties.
Comrie should have been given a game misconduct for deliberately trying to injure PK.
Price is into it.
Penquins have carried the play.
We need a PP goal at the beginning of the second period. Pitts will score at some point of the game.

strange how Galley always makes a point to say Comrie’s high stick was accidental……didn’t look any more accidental than every other high stick I’ve seen

I can’t believe I’m responding to this, but:

Gionta seemed invisible all game.
Gomez needs to learn to shoot more. 1 shot on goal in 2 games is no good in my opinion. But im happy he rocked the GWG.

turning point for price? we will see…but he looked like the goalie we had in his first 18 months…the pp will be vey important for this team…a well deserved win but the odds of it happening regularly like this is slim…once we get pp going than we would have won 5-2…
Who?
NHL.com has Cammalleri
Go Habs Go!
Wear it PROUD!!!
Not pretty, but we’ll take it! I loved this line from the radio Play-By-Play in the dying minute: “…and Gill goes into the corner, and takes three Penguins with him…” A large fellow, that Gill is…
Man, Fleury sucks!
Isn’t that what we’re supposed to say when the defense drops a load on the ice and allows the other team to go 1-on-1 against your goalie?

Very satisfying first win of the season. Our goalie kept us in it, and our offense finally woke up. Looking forward to another great year!
YOU RACIST PIECE OF SH@#$%^&*(
Well… I was able to only watch the first period. But I did see Price make a great save against Crosby. Not a dying seconds game saving type of save, but a great save none the less.
GO HABS…
Gotta love the “glad he got the win, but what about that softie” posts. You guys are rich. If it wasn’t for some huge saves (including the one on Crosby) it’s at least a 5-1 game and their two late goals don’t mean squat.
No doubt he made some amazing saves too
Chill!
The cherry on the cake would have been if Subban’s shot off the post would have gone in instead. Good two points anyways.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
I agree on both points.
F**** U***!!!!!!!!!
Hey ghhadsgmfcs, That how Price is sposed to play and nice soft goal in the 3rd ! Team won tonite not Carey!
Habs win and the Yankees are pounding the Twins. It’s a good evening.
Go Habs Go!
carey price out played marc fleury tonight. atta boy carey. fleury let in the game winning softie. price is a nominee for the number one star, or number 2 behind cammalleri, the penguin slayer. awesome finish. really exciting game. back and forth, much like against the leafs, when the habs look really good, and sometimes really horrible. picard and o’byrne were a little scary, and at times seem a little out of synch, but price was totally there tonight. total game by him.
p.k. say what you will, he has some poise, even when the crowd was on him hard, he didn’t flinch. boyd moen and pyatt played well tonight. i don’t know how many minutes eller played, but i didn’t hear his name too much. probably because we had so many penalties. that still needs to be addressed. but the penalty killers played well. go habs go!
The best part of Carey’s game tonight was he didn’t do all that warm up puck handling stuff he tried last year, He just stopped the MF puck. Way to go Mr. Price!
I stand by that post….and we were lucky to win tonight!
HON candidate for suree.. Honour roll foorrrr sure HON…depends on if anyone scored a nice one.
“Blah blah blah choke choke choke…..”
You were saying?
Keep up the great predictions, loser.

Fetisov high sticks Lemieux and he is a dirty sneaky russian.
but Comire high stick PK and its ok, its cool.. just teaching the kid some respect.
way to go Don Cherry.. smart remark as always.
great game by the habs!

I was happy to see him beat the Flyers… Got 1st star too… Godd for you HALAK… Keep it up all season long except for when we play you.
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
The funny thing is, we had no business winning that game. On the back of a rare top notch performance from Price and a couple fluke goals we somehow stole a couple points.
If that’s what my fellow Habs fans want to watch all year, all the more power to them. I would like to see this team a real contender based on merit. Still waiting. These last two games show that little has changed from last year. So far anyways.
With all the recent failures by Price in the last two years …I`ll let you have it …ps `he`s one lucky boy tonight!

My spinorama shootout goal with Cammy
He played great.
Shut it, adults are talking.
We didn’t win anything. The team did.
Maybe we can let Price just play for a couple of games without doubting him after this quality win which was mainly due to his solid play. In the long run keeping him will be seen as the right choice.
Nope, our goalie was better then theirs. Thats not luck. Dumbass,LOL
I don’t get it …

WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU?
This club needs the goalie to play spectacular to win games. Tonight Price was just that. Well done. And well done to his team for scoring some goals.
‘Cogito ergo doleo’
STFU troll.
I get what you’re saying, but I thought that was beautiful.
So Cammalleri’s on pace for a 162-goal season, eh?
Go Habs Go!
Let it go brother, Price is our goalie, The sooner you hop on the better.
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
One flukey goal, not two.
A loser with integrity….good luck with that! If it was Halak in net instead of Price your story would change. If you can’t admit to that then you have no credibility
Halpren tipped it in. If you think the HNIC annconcing crew is bisaed listen to the Pens crew. Whine more than Sid.
Did Cherry just call the Toronto Penalty Kill the best of all time??? Hilarious!
I tuned in to the game late, and sorry if I missed something – but why were they booing PK?
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH, time for your saturday night date with your dog and a jar of peanut butter.
So what you’re saying is that if Cammy and Gomez don’t score those two last goals it was Price who lost the game right?
Anton Volchenkov took a slap shot to the face, broken nose, may be more.
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Classy. You do Price fans no favours.
‘Cogito ergo doleo’
2-for-2 so far – he went off on Price in the first game. Maybe next he’ll rip on Brian Gionta for not doing the same amount of community service as Saku Koivu did when he was captain. Perhaps it’ll be a swipe at “Pletonik” for some weird reason.

He played like the thoroughbred Bob Gainey, Scotty Bowman and all the other experts said he was. Just say it: he was very good.
That’s why the game is 60 minutes people!
He also said the PK Subban needs to repsect Cindy and Company, and whatch his mouth….
This guy is a real joke, we should all get together a fling feces at the HNIC crew…that would be fun!
Seriously? DO YOU WANT PRICE TO LOSE?
It’s about the team god damnit.
That’s not what he said.
–
It’s just a game.
What I’m really glad for is that Price’s game-saver games FINALLY saved the game. So many times last year he never ended up getting the support save after great save. Hopefully he’s starting to feel like he’s no longer “cursed.”
If not for Price, we don’t win tonight. There would have been no chance.
Well done, Mr. Price!

I think because you have to count the game missed by suspension, he has 2 goals in 2 games (technicaly) but I like your number better
If someone else has fired this salvo, before, I apologize. However: I read a lot of posts in the off- and pre-season to the effect, “Why in the world did we sign Boyd and Halpern?”
Voila!
Is there any sense to the above post?
F bomb baby,lol
respect.
*punches Stewie in the face*
So much to be happy about, why focus on the negative. Cammy, PK and Pricey all played like stars. Its still early and The Pens wanted revenge and a first win in their new home. I thought we held our own, yes we could do some things better but how many games did we lose the same way last year. 3-2 habs win. Smile
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
No
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Sooooo… do you think if we all raised enough money we could buy Cherry a regular suit? Something simple. maybe a nice shade of black, that would be new.
Atta boy Carey!
And may I say, Boyd for SK74…..STEAL!
Gotta love those WHL boys. White’s gonna be great when he gets time with the big club.
If he plays 10-20 great games, then yes I’ll give me thumbs up.
but 1 game means little. we need CONSISTENCY!
but for tonight, Price did well.
Agree. Good post.

Poor Eller’s just gonna have to wait for an injury for his first real shot.
also JOURNALISM!

That sounded like solid post or crossbar
They need to review that
- In Price We Trust
Looks like PK is getting an insane amount of ice time……could be good, could be bad
Took Gomez too long to get control of that puck. Otherwise Pouliot had a good chance.
Lapierre is dirty this year. Slew foot Orpik there
Anyone else get the feel that this game is ten times better quality than the opener in Toronto?
Fleury is giving out rebounds like Falun Gong members with handouts. Let’s go hard to the net!

well, Toronto up 3- nil

Through half the game, Halak has a 1-0 shutout going.
‘Cogito ergo doleo’
enough with the price bashing, he’s made 34 of 36 saves and the team in front scores 1 goal and the game before 2 goals
you can’t expect him to let in 0-1 goal every game when the team cant score and gets seriously out shot..
go watch st.louis if you have a problem with the goaltending
or start focusing on the players that really deserve it… gomez, kostitsyn, pouliot, spacek

Good speed to this game….liking PK so far.
PK has to learn to pick his spots a little better when going out his way to throw the big hit. He stepped into somebody there and it almost turned into 3 on spacek which is even worse then a 3 on 1.
Benny looks like he is channeling Pierre Dagenais!
What have you got against women? Sidney is indeed rat-faced and he is a whiner, but I like women.
Nothing worse than a flying hiney!
yeah, people here were talkin about that too
Hmmm…

We really do need Markov back for the PP.
Go Habs Go!
There’s Cooke being the little prick that he is with the stick in Josh’s face as he skates away.
Go Habs Go!
Although someone needs to explain to me how dropping your gloves and punching a guy in the face is only two minutes.
“I’ll take potent potables for 500, Alex” JB
Pouliot is suppose to be the ”banger” on that line. We all praised his hands and how he complements that line with his size. Now look at him. Can’t get a shot on goal.
Like I said on the other page Pouliot is #57 because he has more flavours than Heinz has sauces. He can be
like hot mustard but lately he’s benn bland and unexciting. Like anyone, a bit
of confidence and a few goals could put the jets back into Benny.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
goooooooooooooooooooooooomez…. i just laugh everytime he gains the blueline and does something stupid
The CBC team is terrible tonight. Galley called Orpik “Paul Martin” (on the replay).
The always-terrible Cole actually called Hal Gill “Subban” earlier. How do you mistake a 6’7 white guy for a 6′ black man?!
Matt Cooke needs to be taught a good lesson.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Gomer is not effective. I’m trying to be less harsh in my comments.
PP’s improved – but we still gotta capitalize.
irritating that MAF is solid, we should have potted a few if it was a weaker goaile
Indeed.
But let’s give him some time.
I hate Matt Cooke. I think it would be worth a 20 game suspension to O’Byrne to blindside that retard into the next century.
His rebound control has been awful tonight – we need to get some more bodies to the net to cash those.
Go Habs Go!
PP first wave: B+ since they get great chances but have yet to convert

But your right on, He is pissing me off

By doing the play-by-play from your cryogenic chamber, that’s how.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”

Comrie dive.
That’s the biggest hook ever. OK penalty though since it nullified a good chance.
Bit of a dive on Comrie, but they had to call it. That penalty could have saved a goal.
Big kill here boys.
Good penalty
lol
it would be sweet.
Not that we approve of Laps taking that crap without dropping his gloves but if a player doesn’t want to fight he doesn’t drop the gloves. However there must come a time when Laps will have to put his fists where his mouth is.
win-win
bye bye tie
Remember when some Penguins ass clobbered Saku behind the net, and Souray came and pounded the guy? He got 2, 5, and 10 for it. The rules don’t apply equally to Sidney’s team, however.

“I’ll take potent potables for 500, Alex” JB
Chacun a son gout, but I’d take Pittsburgh’s D over Toronto’s. Just watch the season the underrated Paul Martin has in comparison to the overated Dion Phaneuf.
Who quarterbacks Pittsburgh’s powerplay?
Letang and Paul Martin
“It must be love!”
I think malkin played the point on the first PP wave against the flyers
There a model franchise. Go broke, tank and then win a fixed draft lottery.
Edmonton seems to like most of that model.
“Pittsburgh will present a greater challenge than Toronto did.”
could be the understatment of the season and it’s early.
I think someone like Moen, but with a little more speed, would really work on that line. I’ll throw out a name for argument sake: Ryan White.
Yeah, no kidding. I do think it will be before the end of November brfore we see him though. Injuries happen.

Not a good goal

HALAK! HALAK! HALAK!
lol….nuthing changes !……
that was a softie
Damn, that was weak!
Still lots of time to answer back.
not exactly a softie but still hurts….c’mon boys….show something!!!!!
Ya he missed his shit and it fooled Price. Crap goal.
Very bad. Price, who has been stellar this year, does the “down to the knees” trick. In that position, he has no chance. He plays so well when he doesn’t go to his knees as a first move – but he slips back into it almost by nature.
Getting so damn sick of having to beat the other team AND the ref’s.
lol quick to call him out. Where were you when he kept the team in the game?
Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.
I think it was a perfect shot. Not like the Habs have done anything to help Price out either.
Full Breezer 4 Life
Umm, the shot was five hole. If he’s not on his knees, he’s in the 50′s. Not a good goal, but not due to his being on his knees or not.
Eller is experiencing something all young players have trouble with, consistent high level play. But what is the excuse for Gomez and Gionta? Not impressed. Pouliot is not getting much help out there.
‘Cogito ergo doleo’
Probably with that comment already typed-in, with his cursor hovering waiting and hoping for the chance to click “Post”…
I replied first period….
You’re right – but right now Gionta, Gomez and Pouliot better get it going – they haven’t done anything yet. Especially Gomez and the Captain.
We need a goal. Can’t win by scoring 1 goal.
Say what you will but not too many games are won by only scoring one goal.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
That’s what the RDS guys alluded to. Perfect placement.
Gionta, show some speed. We need a goal!
I told you Price would let in a softie, and lose, as usual.
habs: 0-2 leafs: 2-0
with Price in nets, we will always lose.
Ok, so lets blow Price outta the water and get it over with……
Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.
Unfortunately nothing has changed since last year. Price plays great, then his team just DOES NOT SCORE…then he lets in a crappy one.
Yeah, nothing changes. Habs get scored on and some stool sample like yourself shows up.
Nice stop by Price. He’s clearly not shaken by that goal.
Crucial save there.
Full Breezer 4 Life
Nice save Price!
Cmon guys, score!
C’mon guys, our goalie is keeping us in this…let’s answer back!
STFU troll
Umm, I understand the butterfly. Butterfly goalies go down with their legs splayed. Price, when he’s off, goes to a full-church kneel. He has been superb this year – not trying to be overly critical. In games where he doesn’t go vertically down like that he’s tough to beat.
Maybe, but I got 10$ that says you’re gonna throw him under the bus tomorrow if we lose.
Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.
Price is the best Hab on the ice tonight, oh and the only one playing.
I feel that Pouliot has his head in the clouds at times. Let’s take Gionta’s breakout pass for example. It was on the mark but Pouliot wasn’t looking and he ended up missing it. It’s these little things make the different between winning and losing. P.S. Powerplay!
Nice save by MAF.
I love the fact that PK is already hated somewhere.
- In Price We Trust
Great puck movement!
Otherwise it is all bounces to wins, and out thought to losses.
when was the last time markov got hurt from coming back early?
PK is definately a marked man. Won’t be suprised if he gets hurt soon.
Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.
Man we miss Markov.
Moen needs to dump and chase, not stick handle at the blue line
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
what did PK do? other than melt their faces with his mad skilz
Is it just me, or does the pace seem a little slow?
There’s no sustained pressure in either end – all back-and-forth hockey usually means lots of excitement, but it’s as if the rushes in both directions lack any real urgency.
The ice is apparently very bad – could explain it.
Cammy!!!!!!
ET LE BUT! CAMMALLERI!
PLEKANEC!
That was nifty!
Think that we missed him vs. the Leafs?
Welcome back Cammy
- In Price We Trust
Wow, pleky to cammy, get used to it boys
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
THat guy dong the belt dance in the crowd was EPIC!
El Camino! Burnin’ rubber! Smoke show! Yes!
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Nice work by Pleky. Looks like he wants to earn his $$$
I know I sure did
- In Price We Trust
Great pass by Pleks, and a very good breakout pass by AK46. Beauty.
What a pass!!
Picard looks shaky,
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Plecky with a great play and Cammy with the finish…YES!
Bob Cole blows the call (again).
On one angle, it looked like Pleks’ pass actually went between Fleury’s legs from behind. How often does that happen?
IM IN LOVE WITH MIKE CAMMALLERI… I want him to father my children….
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
Absolutely, awesome saucer pass on the breakout
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Hey,
Anyone know why the crowd has such a hate on for PK?
Good work Benny
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Pleks did pass through the five-hole.
Set play.
Great pass by Pouliot.
Lovin Boyd so far.
I like Pouliot’s play on the body tonight. Need more of it.
Liking Boyd.
- In Price We Trust
nice pass by pouliot
I don’t know what mad scientist you’re gonna find to do the recombinant work, but I think it’ll be pricey (pun intended)
cuz he’s fricken awesome!
I am liking Dustin Boyd from what I’ve seen so far in these two games. How many breakaways and partial breakaways is this guy going to have?
The Habs have a great bottom 6.
/\\ike
GO HABS GO!
Great pass by Pouliot.
They’re either blatantly racist, or they really think he purposely took out Jordan Staal last year.
I hope that it’s for the RIGHT reasons.
He’s the reason (albeit accidental) that Jordan Staal’s not playing for the Pens right now. Stepped on his foot in last year’s playoff, severed tendons, now the foot’s infected, etc.
/\\ike
GO HABS GO!

how do only we get a roughing penalty?
Uhm, the latter.

GO HABS GO!
Thats a Crosby call right there.
ah yeah. if forgot about that. apparently they did not.
Crosby is such a little douche
- In Price We Trust
Price making the haters look like idiots tonight.
In fairness, he does that every 10-20 games. Thats the problem.
lol….no, they do that just fine on their own.
Spacekmust step it up tonight.
Cindy with his arms in the air. Sheesh.
Price is standing on his head- we need to score some goals for the guy.
Kill this off, then let’s go to work and pop a few!
I know Gomez isn’t a big hitter, but I’ve now seen him twice let a Penguin player skate slowly away from him with the puck, without laying a check, without putting his stick out, nothing…
Lookin’ forward to Jack Todd’s “I’m a mouth-breathin’ drunk” column on Monday.
And, no more doobies for Sid.
I look forward to anything Jack writes – columns, novels. I guess you’re not a fan of good writing.
PK is fine and the PK is fine!

Hmmm.. Where was the tripping call?

Who woulda thunk?
can we do it too?
The bell center fans won’t accept being a lottery team for 4 or 5 years. They can barely stand being a low ranked playoff team.
C’mon Gomer – win one ^%^$%ing battle.
Gomez needs to step up. He needs to play like a 2nd line centerman.
Never mind the salary discussion. He needs to step up.
Not much of a shot difference considering the lopsided amount of powerplays.
He had a good gig in the CJAD booth….. however his playing is more of a joke tonight
Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.
Happy 70th John Lennon.
We miss you, man.
PK says’s he’s used to the boo’s from junior. gotta luv this kid.
But Bob Errey says the Pens arent getting enough full PPs, I guess a 5 on 3 is not full enough.
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
God, it depresses me when i think about it.
he’s going to have to drop the mitts sooner or later
wow Carey Price is playing amazing!
refs showing favouritism as usual but wtvr.
pleks is playing strong and very smart.
the defense is heroic imo, and Spacek is playing really well.
ok Gomez do something useful.. anything.. please!!!!
not to impressed with Gionta either.

WHO’S OUR GOALIE???!!! Great to see the Carey Price BG drafted. Les Boys are better(so far) than last year. The playoffs continue!
Not at all. Even without.
So far I’m happy I didn’t go to bed…
Still waiting for someone to steamroll Cooke.
http://media.turku.fi/kamera1.html
THE SECOND PERIOD
Full Breezer 4 Life
I wish Yoko would go away,
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
What have we taken 6 – 7 penalties tonight so far. 12 -14 minutes playing short handed. You cannot win games that way.
Just hanging that period thanks to a few saves by Price. Sure miss Markie on the PP
Wonder if refs will continue to ensure Crosby and friends have the advantage???
He will. And I pity the fool who thinks PK would be a pushover. I would love for a guy like Matt Cooke to drop with PK. PK would tune him up real quick.
Only two problems, we are taking to many penalties and our power play is not effective. We need more movement and crisper passes.
Boyd line playing great for limited ice time.
Yeah Gomez has been pretty bad so far but its only the second game.. Gionta hasn’t really done much yet either.
Crosby = my least favourite person in the entire world. I wish Moen or O’Byrne would smash his face.

My spinorama shootout goal with Cammy
Who the hell is Kyle Rehman? And why is he making all these useless calls?
“It must be love!”
Missed the first. What happened to PK and why are they booing him?
These guys better strap it on and get a few goals for Carey. He deserves a win tonight.
Gomez sucks.
He disrespects the #11 he wears on his back every time he takes the ice and puts in one of these performances. He’s 2-for-2 so far in spitting in the face of Koivu, Muller, Walter, et al.
We have a decent chance to win this one if Bettman has run out of quarters while phoning in his lame-ass penalties for his bitch-boy Cindy.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
haha well said.. i pity the fool too!!!!
Right on Brother,
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
I’m getting tired of the opposition dominating every game. and we’re always outshot every game. will that ever change?
unless our goalie stand on his head, we can’t win. watch for Price to let in a softie that costs us the game.
Boos are out of respect for what he did against them last year.
And OMG! Rick DiPietri us starting the season for the Islanders! Woah! And he’s lasted 2 whole periods without getting injured!

no kidding,if you have no play then cycle it behind the net. At least that way you don’t get your wingers caught deep with an intercepted pass

Sorry bud, our comments were directed at habs youngtimer, not you.
Sorry again.
All good.
In fairness, try giving a little credit where credit is due. The kid has played awesome. Please tell me where Gomez has earned his $$$ so far?
well one day he is going to do it for 10-20 games and show everyone…… what do you expect from the guy. the team is going to give up 40 shots
in the playoffs last year
Nah, Goligoski.
When did the former PM take up hockey?
when he seen the country go to sh*t under Harper

Yep, he and Goligoski.
Isn’t the rule that if you drop your gloves it’s an automatic 5 for fighting?

So, does that Gorges penalty count as “third man in”?!?
how the efff!! does Gorges get the penalty!?!
“Roughing”??
Out of all of that we get the only penalty?
Crosby cross-checks Price then hits Gill afte he’s already on the floor but Gorges gets called for getting him off his teammate? I hate Crosby..
I hate that the refs show him favouritism. *Every* player yaps, and every player wants the refs to see it their way. That’s not blameworthy. It’s when the refs cave in to that junk that we should get (justifiably) mad.
That was a bizarrely dumb call.
Oh gosh, not Subban..
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO PK

What idiot fans…
Penguins are acting like babies. Crosby has rubbed off on them. Comri needs to go to work at the Brick in the stockroom.
WOW talk about fans affecting the refs calls
The crosby calls are starting
How about that guy wearing #31!!!!!
Go Habs Go!
O’B you’re so F****** useless
First time Burner is innocent BS call
“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”
Comrie gets four for a purposeful hack to the face and Cammy gets five, the rest of the game and another game for a rap to the ankle. Seems just….
If O’Byrne was French everyone on Habs Inside Out would be asking why he is still with us.
obyrne was mugged in front of the net…. crosby factor emerges. i forgot about how bad it was
Our D is just terrible! We need markov, hammer, and now PK back ASAP! How many chances to clear there, and they lose thee puck and we take a dumb penalty.
__________________________
I may disapprove of what you say, but I will defend your right to make yourself look stupid.
O’Byrne just looks lost out there.
Meh, that was a good penalty because Malkin would have had a GREAT chance had OB not held him.
Did the Pittsburgh fans’ IQs drop drastically in the off-season?
Hopefully PK if OK!
O’Byrne behind the net had a ‘deer in the headlights’ moment that kept them from clearing the puck, and it almost cost them… c’mon Rhino, you’re better than that!
I’m not arguing the call, I mean the turnover that kept the puck in the zone in the first place
You could defend Comrie’s high stick as “incidental.” What Cammy did was indefensible.
HATE the Bob Cole and Garry Galley tandem. Just awful.

pretty classless by the fans there. subban could be severely injured.
Don’t follow yer logic.
Wanna try again?
Subban and Tangradi were junior teammates a couple years ago.
I’m not buying that Pouliot is the problem with that line. Gomez and Gionta have been terrible tonight.
Agreed,
Gomez is sucking but at least u see him…hes trying
Where the hell is Gionta? Wheres the speed?
How is that not a high-sticking call? His stick pulled Price’s mask off.
I’m not getting that either. Galley’s blathering about how astute the refs are about noticing Price doesn’t have a mask on – well did they not somehow notice how that happened???

I might not always agree with Cherry, but I really respect the fact that he values sacrifice and the effort young soldiers are giving.
Same here, I find him a douche when it comes to hockey but his respect for the military is untaunted.
I agree, I think he is a GREAT guy. He plays this stupid character and I don’t love that, but he gets the ratings and does a good job. LOTS of good work with soldiers and cops and such….
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
Statement game by Price. Well, period so far…
Mario Tremblay is such a homer! I love it.
Crosby punches Gill while defenseless, gets nothing, Gorges pushes him while he’s standing, insta call, I call BS on that. Otherwise, great period, good to see Plecks and Cammy clicking again. Price has been fantastic, I hope he can keep it up for 2 more periods.
Tell me that cut was ABOVE or JUST BELOW the eye. PLEASE!!
On the plus side, Cammy is on pace for 81 goals.
no joke. once in a lifetime is plenty, thank you.
Yeah, scary moments and another reason for EVERYONE to wear full cages
nice play by pleks (fantasy points for me). cammy, welcome, welcome back. carey’s played very well, making a hi-lit save off a crosby, goal destined one-timer. fantastic. boyd had a nice opportunity having been sprung by a nice pouliot pass. i didn’t see too much of eller. subban did took a nasty, albeit inadvertent high stick by comrie, who fought lapierre earlier in the period. p.k. left very quickly. hopefully he’s okay. the crowd’s been on him for some reason. hope he responds in kind.
p.p. stinks. did i see gill trying to deke down low. was he supposed to be a screen? that experiment is over. penguins ended strong, the boys were running around in the d zone in the last fifteen seconds.
CBC featuring Mr. Pat Burns! Should have been inducted into the HOF this year….Classless
I agree. Should have been a no brainer.
I am so mad at that goof Comrie. PK better be okay. I know what they say about an eye for an eye but…
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
does anyone know why Subban is getting booed when ne has the puck?
did he do something? the kid is not a dirty player.
Maybe because he cut Stalls foot in the playoffs? I dont know..maybe just because he played good against them last year.

My spinorama shootout goal with Cammy
That PK SUBBAN is a crappy dirty and classless player. GHe wouldn’t let Crosby run wild in the playoffs last year, and CINDY’S fans don’t like it when you don’t leave CINDY alone to scoe goals…
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
Yeah he lit the Penguins up and was largely responsible for their wings getting clipped.
Go Habs Go!
PK is very craftily dirty.
He dared call Cindy a pussy to his face and told him to nut up

he’s the one that caught tied up with Staal last year when Staal hurt his foot… habs fans do the same thing to anyone that’s injured our players
What in the flying f*** did we get a penalty for at the end of the period? Looking at Cindy the wrong way? and what was the Gorges penalty? He touched Cindys shoulder? I HATE the Penguins so much I can barely even watch the games.. Hope PK is okay..

My spinorama shootout goal with Cammy
That’s right… I forgot that P.K. cut Staal’s foot on purpose.
Does that mean we should boo Cooke when he touches the puck at the Bell Center?
He did get Markov out.
We gave up too many odd men rushes; 3 on 2, 2 on 1.
I guess Carey is going to have to start scoring the goals as well
- In Price We Trust
That is why it sucks to be a goalie. Price made some huge saves and kept the Habs in the game at certain critical points. Then he lets in a questionable goal and it all is forgotten. He has played well enough to win if the Habs could convert.
‘Cogito ergo doleo’
It wasn’t a questionable goal. Price is not the problem tonight.
It is best not to get attached.
agreed but what’s the alternative
You’re criticizing a player who would be in Hamilton if Hammer and Markov were healthy? Why? Watch Gomez and Jacques Martin for a while.
