Canadiens spoil Jets party

Spacek-hit

Not exactly a warm welcome back to the NHL.
Down two starters, the Canadiens romp to a 5-1 win.
Three unanswered goals in the third period broke a tight game open.

After losing Jaro Spacek and Mike Cammalleri in the first period, the undermanned Canadiens rallied with opportunistic scoring.

Every goal was a highlight reel job, including a Travis Moen breakaway.

Before he got hurt, Cammalleri scored the Canadiens’ first goal of the season.

First PP goal was a Yannick Weber laser.

Carey Price made 30 saves. Don Cherry called him the best goaltender in the world … and he coached Gilles Gilbert.

And the PK pitched another shutout … including a 5-on-3.

  9. FFS.. this team and penalties.. and to think we don’t even have “tough” guys that put up PIMs..

  10. topher5468 says:

Yea Gomer, give it to Gorges, and now take a stupid penalty. What did you do all Summer again

“It’s not an obsession, It’s a way of life..”

  11. Jbird says:

That not a penalty. That was Gomez playing good.

  12. HardHabits says:

The ratings hounds must be loving this. 1-0 and the goal scorer is out for the game with an injury. I think the Habs are going to need to bring a new product to the table or the NHL is going to stop using them for these special events.

  13. OneTimer says:

gomez was amazing during the pre-season. now he’s right back to the patented “gain the zone, stop and look up for a pass” move. goddamnit gomez.

  14. Habifax says:

whole lot of soft calls today

  15. Propwash says:

Bettman looks like he hates what he’s seeing.

  16. tote-road says:

Why do they keep saying Markov isn’t even skating? I thought he’s been skating for a long time now, just not with the team…

  19. twilighthours says:

I have yet to see why Diaz should be playing ahead of Weber.

I think the question is now, does Montreal go out and sign/trade for a new dman? If so who? And how long til he gets injured?

  21. AK_PK_Usay says:

And we almost got ANOTHER too many men on ice :S

  22. Habbu says:

Pass it to Carey, he knows how to clear the zone.

  23. HardHabits says:

Not impressed with Cole. I am beginning to see that Eric Staal was a big part of his game.

  24. AK_PK_Usay says:

The system, run after puck, wait while Price saves your ass a few times, finally get puck, CLEAR it, change lines, RINSE AND REPEAT!

    Can we fire him already?

  25. topher5468 says:

    Cole has been awful too

That’s what happens when you overuse your best players on PK, you’re left with guys like Darche on the PP.

  33. HardHabits says:

Ha. Plex with a nice hip check.

Edit: Oops. That could have been a penalty. On 2nd look it looked like a push.
