Injuries and no-shows by their star players did the Canucks in.
All the Bruins – including the fourth line – played like they wanted the Stanley Cup.
And they got it.
We thought Tim Thomas might be better than Roberto Luongo.
But did anyone expect Brad Marchand to outplay Henrik and Daniel Sedin … by a lot?
In the most important hockey game of their lives, the twins were matching minus-4s. Mike Milbuiry must be pissing himself laughing.
My series turning point?
Dan Hamhuis goes low to check Milan Lucic in the second period of Game 1.
It was the last play of the Stanley Cup final for Vancouver’s steadiest Dman.
Then Kevin Bieksa’s new partner, Aaron Rome, got suspended … and that was the ballgame.
The Bruins had their way in the Vancouver end throughout the series.
Another key: the Vancouver power-play was just putrid.
And history was made: Vancouver became the first Canadian team to lose the Cup on home ice in Game 7.
And Boston became the first team to win three Game 7s – coming back from 0-2 twice.
What the heck, we didn’t really want Chris Higgins and Maxim Lapierre to get their names on the Cup, right?
Let history record that Boston toughest challenge, en route to the Cup, was beating your Montreal Canadiens.
Three OT losses, including Game 7.
Habs against the Cup finalists this season: 9-6.
We’ll cry all summer long.
And props to the Vancouver fans, who took time out from heartbreak to boo the stuffing out of Gary Bettman.
And showed class by cheering Tim Thomas.

Lebrongo can spend the summer pumping Thomas’ tires!
Here’s a shout out to all those poor schmucks in ‘Couver:

How many Vancouver riot police does it take to keep all the light bulbs from bein’ smashed?
Let’em run wild. Costs less and insurance companies have to pay out of the ass. Anybody dumb enough to be on the streets tonight should get the hell out of there now.
It’ll be ’94 redux.
With more doobies.
I’m either sticking with wine or switching to stronger stuff. Might need help getting to sleep tonight.
So, goonshow in the third? Probably.
As long as Marchand get wooped..
That won’t happen, too slippery
would’nt be surprise

Pretty sure it is still a game involving the Bruins and with NHL caliber officiating so yes.
There is absolutely no controversy in that goal people. Bergeron didn’t shove the puck in with his hand, he was tripped and sent into the net. Luongo could have easily covered that puck or poke checked it away. No blaming the officials tonight.
Luongo and his teammates have handed this Cup to the Bruins on a platter and the Bruins were more than willing to take it.
if you watch the replay the pucks hits his hand and then hits Luongo in the pads.
I wasn’t being sarcastic. It was a good goal.
on the bright side – the habs are still the last canadian team to win the cup. we have had to watch Edmonton, Calgary, Ottawa and now Van lose in the finals in the last five or so years. i guess the next cup losers will be the Jets. although, hell is freezing over so maybe the leafs will win next.
g
b
Muller to Vancouver then? O_o
#1 priority acquire Brendan Shanahan’s son…. guaranteed cup

hahaha good one.
Colon Campbell, take a bow. You did it. Asshole.
Couldn’t have put it any better.
Got that right.
- Honestly yours
I can tell you all one thing. I won’t be watching the end of this game. No way in f*cking hell I’m gonna watch those scumbags pass around the cup.. I’m gonna go study, take the dog out, whatever. I wont have my TV on.
nbc seattle not even showing the game…maybe people watch cbc
From my time in Seattle at least I know Comcast comes with Vancouver CBC standard.
‘treat it as professionally as you have all season’ Millbury on NBC on how as a coach he would tell the bruins how to handle the coming 3rd period. Professional what? Gooners? Infants? NHL backed cup winning team?
Hey Milbury, why don’t you destroy another franchise…

Worst part is if you want to watch to the end you have to see the Bruins raise the Cup. Can’t think of a worse way to end this season to be honest.
We did better vs the Bruins than these guys. Pretty sad.
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
if Boston win’s the tv goes off at the end of the 3rd.
This sucks! I guess the NHL office is happy. I guess the play-offs are about gooning it up. Time to draft some goons and say goodbye to small skilled forwards.
We have entrusted these Americans with running our game and they don’t love the game, only the violence. What a shame. I won’t be celebrating tonight.
Number 25 in 2011!
i feel some puke in my mouth starting to form.
i will give the B’s credit for building their team properly. Chara, big forwards with a mix of skill players. they lose horton and savard and dont miss a beat.
The B’s are mostly Canadians which is nice as well. Marchant is a beast. he is the real conn smythe winner. sure thomas keeps the puck out [chara and ryder seem to have to help with that way too much] but everytime marchant is on the ice he makes something happen on offensive.
i hate life right now.
g
b
Who is Marchant?
alright, Marchand. you should be embarrased you pay close enough attention to the names on the bruins jerseys.
Don’t go to bed Mike, Im sure Vancouver is watching tapes of Habs beating Boston on a regular basis taking notes:
“WoW, theyre NOT giving up, wtf, game ends as soon as we’re down 1, these Canadiens are CRAZY”
Bergeron might be the only player in that lineup who I’m happy for. Really.
The Bruins’ down 2 games in a series record went from 0-26 to 2-26 in one year. What’s up with that?
Also, I think Luongo’s NHL career is over. Good thing he signed that lucrative contract
The President’s Trophy was won by the right team this year!
Well, at least Milbury doesn’t get his name on the cup, right? He’s still the same career loser/hemorrhoid he was this morning.
Thank you Boone, for an entertaining season of blogging.
Hell is about to freeze over. Please lord, we pray for a miracle.

Well, a very depressing night all around. Went for a cruise on my Hog, with my brand new quick detach saddlebags on and lost one of them and didn’t realize it until I got home. Not even into this game because of that, but the score in this game makes it that much worse.
Unless the Canucks have something up their sleeve, this game is looking so far as a BIG FAT C – H -O – K – E.
Consider Vancouver was up by 2 games.
Mr Luongo, what happened?
Oh, well. 20 minutes to go. Let’s see what happens

So then Montreal up 2-0 was what ?????
Not a choke.
Different scenerio eric. When your up by two during the Stanley Cup finals is alot different than round 1.

So if Vancouver would have lost to Chicago it would be??????
But the two scenarios are entirely different. Vancouver was favored to win it all. The Habs were supposed to go out in five…six if they were lucky.
Boston won three overtime games to beat Montreal. Vancouver…well, truth is they’re lucky to still be in this thing.
The Canucks will, rightly or wrongly get labelled as chokers if this holds up. Even a Bruin fan, who was clenching his teeth in game seven overtime, would not label the Habs as chokers.
I wrote not a choke. More like wasted opportunity. Did Vancouver really dominate Boston ? Not really.
I know what you wrote. And I wrote that whether we agree or not the choke label will come out. Luongo and the Sedins will both have that label applied.
So, who will the Habs draft in the 1st round? A center? A D-man? A right winger? What position are they in the draft?
Hopefully, skating and size up front. The rest can be learned …
ALWAYS Habs -
D Mex
An American or someone under 6 feet. Most probably a D. It’s the safest bet since you can tell the puppy dog media in Montreal that a D takes longer to develop. Heck there still waiting for Brent Bilodeau…..
Puppy dog media …
Still with the Purina Puppy Chow theme, huh eric ?

Everyone talks about Luongo … where are the goals?
Lots of interference in this series … no calls. Oh, except for the 5 minute major for interference on Rome, lol.

I can’t wait till next year,Ratchand will be a marked man, no,scratch that, not man but RAT,by all the goons and enforcers in the league. How can players like Richards and such target PK for his ‘attitude’ as a rookie this season yet Ratchand acts as if he’s been in the league long enough to act as if he’s better than most and his constant spraying goalies. I don’t get it. Next year will be his wake up call.
Who would you rather… Gomez for three years 7.4 cap hit… or Luongo for 10 more years at 5.4?
Gomez
I agree, he just became the second worst contract in the NHL.. Thanks Lou!
Small victories!
I’d rather have Marchand and I’ll still pay Gomez’s cap hit.
How about neither? is that an acceptable answer to which crappy contract?
Agreed. But to be fair to Luongo, the Canucks have scored just 8 goals in 7 games.
True but the goals going in are of the dreaded “soft” variety.
It’s over and it should be over. Boston is by far the better team. It’s impossible to cheer for this pathetic, gutless bunch. The Canucks are awful. I’m actually much less upset about Boston winning the cup – they deserve it.
Where’s the passion, the heart? I hate to say it, I really do, but the Bruins are playing like a team that wants to win a Cup. The Canucks are playing like a team that thinks the Cup should be given to them, they have to go out there and take it. Game’s over.
It’s true, but we don’t have to like it…sigh!
Luongo is not The Franchise.
Nucks are going to lay another goose egg. Awful performance!
Time to go watch the 27-time World Series Champions!
Take heart my Canadiens friends: 3-0 is the scariest lead for a Bruins fan.
That would be history’s best recorded example of poetic justice.
The only guy I can respect, barely, is Thomas. He wants it bigtime, and by the looks of it, he’ll get it.
Prop- The funny thing is that there were a lot of writers who gave the edge in goal to Luongo before the series started because he is more technically sound. Ill take heart over technicality anyday…
Let’s go hiiiiiiiiiiiigherrrrrrrrrrr…….
HIIIIIIIghERereERerrrrrrr!!!
“Can I go to bed now?”
Might as well, Mike.
Bruins were barely the better team against the Habs or Tampa, but clearly they are the better team against Canucks. That’s the playoffs for you. The sad part is the entire eastern conference (except the habs most likely) is going to go the thuggery route now and emulate the bruins.
i agree – i dislike the bruins but they barely got to the finals. but now they look far superior to vancouver.
I take solace in the fact that my Habs will once again kick Bruins ass in the season series next year, and give them everything they can handle in the playoffs. Lets see how good the Bruins do without the NHL behind them all season.
So, you think the NHL’s Colinoscopy will help ?
ALWAYS Habs -
D Mex
On the plus side, the B’s are up 3-0 in a game seven. Vancouver has them right where they want them.
…We all know how obnoxious Booins’ fans are winning a puny 5 cups in …what, 90 years ? …just think how We will NEVER shut ‘em-up now !

Games over – the most classless, disrespectful team in the last 20 years will win the cup. A sad day for the sport.
I’d say 35 years myself.

We agree on something for the first time.
miracles do happen.
Really, sad was Ben Johnson, The steroid scandal in baseball, Lance Armstrong’s doping etc. There are a lot of worse things.
nucks players going to need police escort home.
Somewhere, the ghost of Lord Stanley of Preston just threw up a little.
Boone, just open it up to live chat and let us grieve together
Help me out guys, has a worse collection of ne’er do wells lifted the Cup since 1975 than these thugs?

Anaheim a couple of years ago was pretty bad Robert. They were close but not quite as bad as these apes.
Yup and Burkie is trying to recapture that spirit…
I actually hope Vancouver gets shut out. If they score two and that is the deciding goal … very bad.
Full Breezer 4 Life
The upside? Two years on a row an original 6 team gets the cup.
Does “Original 6″ even matter these days? Sorry, just in a sour mood. You’re right though, glad there won’t be a Tampa or Anaheim on there this year…
Correct, original six is for old fogies who cannot believe their team is now a middle of the pack team. And wish for a time when the NHL guaranteed the best french player to them because of territorial rights.
Sadly, I’d rather see Tampa (hometown boys) or Anaheim (Koivu) than this lol
this is not an upside.
I’d rather the Florida Panthers win the Cup than Boston or the Leafs. I’d rather see Philadelphia win it. Washington, you name it. Original six my arse.
Sedins will never live this down. Luongo will never live this down. Vancouver? It’ll be back page news by the weekend.
Total implosion by what everyone thought was a talented team with depth and goal tending.
***Subbang Baby!!!***
It’ll be back page news when the damage from the inevitable mess is cleaned up.
Fans are creatures of habit. This is ’94 redux.
Riot police are gonna earn their overtime tonight.
and the habs have to play these guys 6 times……never hear the end of it…pass the rum please.
And we’ll still beat them 4 times out of 6.
***Subbang Baby!!!***
with our speed or our fists….thats for later..lol.
OK guys, here is the definitive observation from my wife :
- Neely looks constipated … and SHE is from Maple Ridge
ALWAYS Habs -
D Mex
They might as well wear the brown flying V jerseys in the third period. Ugliest uniforms worn by one of the ugliest performing squads. How fitting!!!
Br00tal.
Just br00tal.
Gonna be a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng summer.
On a positive note, gonna be a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng summer.
On the bright side, Bruins will be burnt out next season after a Cup win. Good for Habs. (OK, stretchingggggggg)
I have wondered about this myself.
Plus, there is always the possibility they will blow up the team (see Blackhawks, Chicago, NHL Champs 2009-2010), not that Boston is much of a team to blow up, mind you …
ALWAYS Habs -
D Mex
Maybe literally blow up? LOL
and the Stanley Cup Champs for 2010-11 are the hated Bruins of Boston ……………make me sick…god almighty.
Sad part is the Sedins still won’t care!?!
Fans turning on Luongo….not a good sign. Good to know those kind of fans are not only in Montreal.
I can’t believe that’s a goal.
Full Breezer 4 Life
Why? Perfectly good goal, even if Bergeron did knock Luongo into the net, it was the result of him being tripped up by a Canuck. Good goal, it’s over. Time for all of us to come to terms with the fact that there is no hockey god and that thuggish, cowardly bullies will prevail and influence a good portion of youth hockey players going forward. Tremendous evening.
Indeed, but cowardly bullies ? Just plain bullies. Boston has at least 6 or 7 at any time. And wait they have Toronto’s #1 this year and will get rid of that waste of space Kaberle.
berg pushed it with his hand – potentially it was allowed because after berg pushed the puch with his hand it may have hit luongos pad… but if you missed the hand push then u missed a lot
I only saw it twice, but it looked like it was pushed by his hand. Highly highly doubt it will change the outcome though.
Okay buddy.
sry i see the games as they are
Yep, two replays in real time and you’ve gotter all figured out do ya.
I’m feeling sick
I can’t believe Boston gets the cup. There is not enough beer in the world to ease the pain.
How the hell does that count?? I don’t know hockey anymore
If anyone with good means is looking to buy property in Vancouver something tells me Luongo’s condo will be listed for sale by Saturday.
And they signed him for what a kazillion years, makes Gomez seem like a steal…..
I’m happy to say, the Montreal Canadiens were the best opponents the Bruins faced this off-season.
that shouldn’t count
LMAO……This whole series has been a joke. What a sad display of hockey. Lord Stanley would be ashamed!
It’s over… this is disgusting…. I’m done watching.
The girl behind Vigneault says it all
Definitely a punching motion.
Still pathetic series from Vancouver.
Vancouver… utterly incapable of bringing it when it counts.

ugliest goal ever-

Really, Lou couldnt stop that, WTF
Edit: Teams losing VS Vancouver must be ashamed… LOL
Ok, ill be nice, Van is missing some key players where bruins are only missing 1 guy, who shines in OT…
I knew it.
