The way I saw it, Gill passed blindly to Diaz’ corner as if to say “Here you take this” and didn’t make himself available for the return pass. So Diaz quickly got in over his head.
The D-partner’s only job is to make himself available to relieve the forecheck pressure on the puck handler. Diaz didn’t do it.

I like the way eller’s all around game is progressing but sooner or later his inability to win faceoffs in our own end is going to cost us.
that can be taught thru dilligent coaching. those are the things we hire coaches for, to help young players with the learning curve.

The sad reality is that JM is probably happy with our performance tonight because we have tightened up around the net and given up only one goal. I can’t take anther two years of the SYSTEM.

Eller looks amazing out there. The puck seems to stick on his stick and his moves are unpredicatble making time and space for his wingers. Other Habs centers, take note.

With 10 seconds left in the period and a faceoff in the opposing teams end. Why not have either pleky who is 75% so far or nooky who is still 100% (only 3-0 mind you) out there to take the draw instead of DD who is getting owned tonight. At least try to win the draw to get a shot on net. Its not like we haven’t been burned enough times with a goal that late in a period due to a lost faceoff.
