At least .500 on the trip

Huge win.

Canadiens withstand an early L.A. onslaught – much as they did in Phoenix Thursday night – and beat the Kings 5-2.

Tom Kostopoulos – playing in the city where his career began – scored an empty-netter to clinch it.

Man of the Match: Jaroslav Halak. 35 saves and yeoman goaltending through the frequent periods when L.A. totally dominated, notably during a scoreless first period.

Canadiens take four of six points on their difficult western swing. Whatever happens in Anaheim is gravy.
