Another L for Habs .. and a stinkeroo against THEM!

POSTGAME AUDIO: Mathieu Darche | Peter Budaj | Brian Wilsie | Scott Gomez | Jacques Martin

• PREGAME AUDIO: Coach Jacques Martin | Brendan Gallagher on facing Bruins’ Milan Lucic | Aaron Palushaj | Andrei Kostitsyn | Nathan Beaulieu | Morgan Ellis

What’s the Jacques Martin mantra?

Goaltending and special teams.

Peter Budaj was, to put it charitably, ordinary.

And Boston penalty-killers outscored the Canadiens power play.

The result: An ugly 7-3 pasting.

Over/under suggestions:

• Carey Price starts

• Months till Brendan Gallagher makes the team

The cuts can’t come soon enough.

  1. riddler says:

    We hit another fat chick?!

  2. Chris79 says:

    Henry is Brutal….lol.

  3. SmartDog says:

I said this when it happened: why the F did they let Auld go?

Auld had the kind of season that earns a new contract. Picking up Budaj instead because he’s younger is one of those stupid decisions that comes out of a committee. What other team would dump a solid, inexpensive back-up who won most of his games and was a good mentor to their budding super-starter?

The Habs make some f-n DUMB personnel decisions.

Listen to the Smart Dog. He knows his poop!

  4. DEANDALLEY says:

Montreal hits more posts than Boston has Fat chicks!

It is all for nothing if we don’t win the Stanley Cup!

  5. durocher says:

Not a great pre-season for Weber either

  6. jo_maka says:

Well if Price gets the chillout treatment with an AHL roster, I don’t see why we should throw Budaj under a bus already. I know, I know, Carey’s the second coming and all that jazz.
But not a lot of vets were close to being stellar this preseason, is what I mean.
Open-mindedness is not a skull fracture

    • HabFanSince72 says:

Budaj is 28 and he has always sucked. He isn’t going to get better. Ever.

      • jo_maka says:

Haven’t seen a lot of him when he was with the Avs, to be honest, but just simple common sense here:

Budaj=backup=less good than Price=less good than the guy who allow 3 goals a game when in preseason playing with the kids.

        Conclusion: Chill Out.

Now if he sucks playing with the big boys, we’re in doodoo, I agree.

I know, logic doesn’t have its place on the internet. But let’s try.
Open-mindedness is not a skull fracture

    • LL says:

This is Montreal, you throw him in front of a Metro.

  7. riddler says:

Is this guy really slated as our backup this year?
If price struggles we are in big doggie doodoo.

  8. The_Salted_One says:

budaj almost another one… this is just sad… i miss auld already

  9. DEANDALLEY says:

Budaj will have to tell the fans to RELAX .. LOL

It is all for nothing if we don’t win the Stanley Cup!

  10. riddler says:

Did we bring back the seive?

  11. HabsFanMTL says:

ok i’ve seen enuf of these monkeys, send this minors down to the minors and lets get our real team together!!!!!

  12. Danno says:

“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”

  13. Wow man.. *hides head in shame*

Losing 7-3 to those sickening baboons hurts.. yes, even in Pre-season.

  14. HabFanSince72 says:

i was very surprised when the Habs signed Budaj. He simply isn’t an NHL calibre goalie.

    Woytwitka. Budaj.

I think the professional scouting needs work.

  15. NLhabsfan says:

That was a brutal!!! He should have had that one.

  16. avatar_58 says:

I guess Price is playing about 70+ games this season….

  17. durocher says:

    Put in Aebischer or Racicot!

  18. hansolo says:

If you figure Budaj should have stopped at least goals #2 and #6, the score would be respectable. Not bad considering who’s on the roster.

Edit: He probably should have stopped Goal# 7 as well, the angle was really sharp.

  19. riddler says:

Anyone else think that the Trotter kid has showed some real creativity in his starts?

  20. Brazhabs says:

What do you all think about grabbing Caputi off waivers from the Laffs? Here’s a guy who has played half descent hockey when called upon up in the NHL…he is only 22 years old, 6’3, 200lb winger. Might be a good option if we were to get into injury trouble and need a big winger who can actually score on one of the bottom lines…

    • HabFanSince72 says:

Have you seen the Leafs’ forwards? Maybe the worst in the league. If he can’t make it there he can’t make it anywhere.

    • Former Jets Fan says:

Not a bad idea, I like the kid. He had 111 pts one year in the OHL, so he’s got to have some puck skills, and likes to hit.
I suppose his development must have stalled if he’s one waivers now at 22, but he’d make just about the minimum in the NHL, so there’s nothing to lose. Can’t have too much depth.

  21. The Dude says:

Palushaj has real good 3rd periods, like it!

  22. SlimDiggity says:

Palushaj is having a pretty good game tonight and I honestly believe he is better than what he has shown so far. His play up to this point has looked like a lot of nervousness/jitters to me. If you’ve seen him in interviews, he’s definitely putting a lot of pressure on himself.

  23. Love the hate of our own players. Way to go Palushaj. That’s 1g 3a this preseason for him.

  24. neumann103 says:

It appears that Palushaj and Willsie spent the second intermission studying their bus tickets to Hamilton.

They were brutal in the 2nd but back with a vengeance

    “Et le but!”

  25. Now Palushaj shows up. I think he heard Martin saying “Hey, I heard Don Cherry is a big Bulldog fan.”

  26. riddler says:

    The come back is on!
Would someone please beat the snot out of Marchand!

  27. cuzzie says:

Boonsie, keep on crapping on Palushaj. It’s working!

    Stay Thirsty My Friends!

  28. durocher says:

Interesting that Yemelin jumped up and was in the slot on that goal

  29. Danno says:

I feel bad for all those loyal Habs fans in Halifax who paid big bucks to watch this sorry spectacle of boys playing against men. They should demand a refund.

“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”

  30. christovski23 says:

    Whose in net tonight?

  31. durocher says:

Nice move by Bealieu, he can skate

  32. hansolo says:

    Hey, nice spin-o-rama by Beaulieu!

  33. cuzzie says:

    82 not counting Playoffs

    Stay Thirsty My Friends!

  34. The_Salted_One says:

do we have hamilton’s back-up goalie in right now?

    your friendly neighborhood Salted One

  35. Kooch7800 says:

I think I am going to stop watching these preseason games…. our offense is just BRUTAL

  36. otter649 says:

The Henry/Thorton fight goes back a few years ago when The Habs wore those crazy barber shop sweators in a game against The Bruins and Henry & Thorton went at it as well Montreal was first in the division & second in the conference and then had two injuries in the game to Lang & Landresse (sp) and The Habs barely made the playoffs that season…….

  37. jo_maka says:

    Aaaaahhh…..another PooPlank.
Well in that jersey he’s allowed
Open-mindedness is not a skull fracture

  38. sane hockey fan says:

Bruins have 126 NHL goals in their lineup tonight, Montreal 68…that might have something to do with the score.

  39. Everlasting1 says:

Is on the pipe? Broken links, missing data. Time to shake off the summer doldrum.

“We don’t see things as they are, but as we are.” – Anais Nin

  40. hansolo says:

The Gomez line has played really well. I know we love Gallagher and Cole, but you gotta give Gomez himself some credit for that.

    • The_Salted_One says:

i agree. i dont want to get too positive about Gomer just yet, but he’s looked much better so far in the pre-season

      your friendly neighborhood Salted One

  41. Chris79 says:

Yemelin needs a wee tad of Conditioning.. This guy is a Beast..!!

  42. cuzzie says:

    Wow AK woke up!

    Stay Thirsty My Friends!

  43. Gerry H says:

The preseason so far has been a bit about testing the chemistry between a few key players and a lot about taking a long look at a bunch of minor leaguers who will be called upon when injuries hit. Frustrating to watch, as nothing even approach our Club de Hockey Canadiens has hit the ice yet. But there is a reason why the Habs are playing so many preseason games and it ain’t about previewing the season. It’s all about ordering the depth chart.

The last two exhibition games should be a different story.

  44. Danno says:

    Ca sent le comeback!

“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”

  45. Mavid says:

saving ourselves for the regular season..and to lull them into a false sense of security…yep thats the plan
second place is just the first loser

  46. Yaaay Palushaj and Willsie did something.

  47. Ian Cobb says:

Martin has gone to school this training camp.

He sees Doug Jarvis’s team on the other side, winning all face offs and controlling the puck on special teams. Even when they are short handed.

He is learning how his defensive style is far superior in winning hockey games.

I know it is pre season and he is keeping his powder dry so as to have a great look at the kids.

So the cuts come tomorrow and the real work begins getting this roster fireing on all cylinders. Only 10 days until the real deal.

  48. RS says:

I remember watching Ribeiro, Ryder and Chouinard play together at the WJC and my optimism turning to pessimism.

  49. hansolo says:

RDS crew ragging on Pouliot — Benoit Brunet just said he had seen him fall several times this evening and bemoaned his lack of application in spite of his undeniable talent. I guess PG might know what he’s doing, at least sometimes? Doesn’t sound like Pouliot made a whole bunch of friends in Montreal, not even amongst the partisan RDS crew.

  50. SeriousFan09 says:

Also Boone, Jarred Tinordi for Team USA and Daniel Pribyl for Team Czech Republic if they can keep their profiles up.

Also folks: Daniel Pribyl scored his first Extraliga goal today, it was his 3rd game of the season.

    – I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.

  53. Chris Higgins says:

I have it on good authority that The System is unamused by this evening’s efforts!

  54. Paulin98C says:

Even if it’s preseason it hurts when a bruins fan tells you they could beat you shorthanded….

  55. habs001 says:

i still think we will have a lot of the same type of games as last 2 years winning 2-1 or 2-2 in o/t win…we have been one of the lowest scoring teams the last 2 years and our lack of scoring will not suddenly improve by a great amount….we will still have 6 forwards in the line up who may not score more than 6-8 goals and i am not sure our d will generate more goals and points than last year

  56. twilighthours says:

Willsie, Blunden, masse, maxpac’s buddy de whatshisname… They’re all the same to me. Cut!

“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”

  59. SeriousFan09 says:

Clement Jodoin better be good for Hamilton, otherwise Palushaj is playing his way out of contention for a pro hockey career.

    • I don’t know what happened, this kid was dominating in the Calder Cup playoffs. Perhaps he always starts slow and then picks it up? Not a good thing though.. he’s playing for a roster spot here.

    • Mark C says:

Not you too, SF09. This guys almost scored a PPG as a 21 year old in the AHL, now after a few pre-season games you’re talking about his pro career maybe ending soon.

  60. The Dude says:

If the Habs would win a Cup once in a while then RDS wouldn’t have a Bruin love in!

“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”

  62. At least we’ll find out tomorrows line up within hours.

Still.. there is a slight chance for an epic comeback………………

  63. homerbowen says:

Looking at all our games to date we clearly suck. Same problem we have faced for the past decade…CAN”T SCORE!! Not a lot of promise this year.

  64. solomio says:

Would it be too much of a stretch to say that it’s possible we’re all guilty of over estimating what the Habs will do this year?
I know I know It’s pre season but it is pre season for the opposition too but they’re winning! Aye thars the rub !!

  65. Chris Higgins says:

All the Habs need to do is get good field position to start the third, kick a field goal and they are right back in it!

  66. NLhabsfan says:

I agree too many games in a row.. Can’t blame coach playing more rookies.
