Unless my math is off the habs have played 15 sets of back to backs. In those sets, they’ve won both games a grand total of TWICE. They’ve won the 1st then lost the 2nd (either in regulation or OT) seven times, lost the 1st then won the 2nd four times and lost both games twice. I don’t think Montreal has had the most back-to-backs in the league, but we’ve certainly had more than our fair share. These things are brutal!
The problem with the Habs is that they’ve been on a play-off spot all season long and don’t know what it means having to fight for it. Heck, we’ve been on a free fall ever since we were first in the conference at the beginning of the season. That’s why we get our butts kicked by teams a couple of places down in the standings and why I don’t see us going far during the play-offs this season.
There is something about a team that pulls everything together in order to make the play-offs and quite frankly we don’t have that.
WOW – When a team is fighting for a playoff spot, how can they just not be in the game? Not compete!? No get up and go?! There seems to be something wrong and that’s an understatement. Sure, I know our defense is decimated by injuries. But, we still have professionals back there, I think? Loosing the puck in your own end, turning over the puck, losing the puck in the scrambles, not being first on the puck, not taking the body, not winning the battles, that all says, “I don’t want to compete”. Lost desire? Giving up? It sure seems that way. It sure looks that way. Something needs to happen in order to get their attention or they’re not going to get into the playoffs.
Way I see it, 4 games left, 4 losses potentially. We suck against Jersey, Chicago is fighting for a playoff spot and Joel Quenneville will have his team ready to play unlike our sorry excuse of a coach. Ottawa is due to win against us and no way in hell are we beating the Leafs the last game. So therefore, in order for us to make the playoffs, we will rely on other teams to do it because this team lacks everything.
Price is worn out. Give him the start against Chicago & let Auld play the other games. When the team fails to show up, what difference does it make who’s in goal. We have officially become the laughing stock. Thank you Gainey for handpicking 2 incompetent boobs in Martin & Gauthier.
Habs are headed for the last spot as usual. I hope the City of Montreal will one day get a team it can be proud of. Let’s face it,it has become all about selling apparel & official NHL crap.
We have become Toronto, with no need to win, just put a crack in the seat. Absolutely sickening.Remember the days when Win (or Tie) was all that was good enough. Another season wasted, & we will become that old ‘Wait Till Next Year ‘ team like so many others.
Then in September it becomes ‘This is the year’ …pathetic, then we will hear all the excuses in the world, give the kid a break, he’s only been in the league 10 years………lol The Ref’s are against us,(even in the practice sessions) Please..this Habs team stinks !
Group A: Markov, Gorges & Spacek – out with injury
Group B: Wiszy, Sopel and Mara – their replacements
Come on folks. Group B is a reasonable squad for meaningless hockey through the dark winter months. This band isn’t going to measure up to the loss of Group A when it counts most (in the Spring).
Ok, besides the game, this site is really getting annoying. It is not growing on me at all. And, when the server stops updating the posts all of a sudden it just infuriates me. Tech boys, do something with this mess.
Why is anyone surprised? I expected this to happen as it has so many times before. I am not planning on watching the coming beat down in New Jersey either. Playoffs are not a slam dunk if they can’t find another 3 wins.

As I’m sure we all saw on RDS, there’s a chance Gomez gets traded(assuming PG wants to, I guess), and the team they brought up, that he’d be headed to, is Florida.
My question is: What can we get for him?
I’m sure a lot of people would settle for a bag of pucks, but is there any player we could realistically get that would help our team? Or would we maybe steal a pick out of Tallon and maybe a fringe prospect?
We don’t need anything for him except to dump him and his salary, which should free up money to enable us to get at least one Big Nasty Forward with soft hands and a little left over to put towards PK’s and Price’s new deals down the road.
If he can be traded that would be a miracle. Florida is perfect. Soft player, soft weather.

Yeah, getting rid of him is essential.
Would be nice to bring something back, though, even if it’s a few picks(which we’d probably have to pry to get.)
I would hope for a dozen oranges & a ticket to Epcott Center
Get ‘er done, PG
