Here’s my prophecy, in about 3 years once JM gets fired, the Habs will throw lots of money at Guy Boucher and Mathieu Darche will become his assistant.
is there a possible trade option with san jose? as i mentioned earlier they have lost 5 games in a row…last night they play the leafs who are playing their 4th game in six days including the previous night and still score 4 goals on a rested san jose team in the third…san jose must be looking to shake things up…
I have heard Melnick was looking after the money end of it. Murray wanted to fire Clouston but Melnick wouldn’t let him do it because Clouston’s contract ends this season and Melnick doesn’t want to pay for two coaches for the rest of the season. Ottawa is apparently the only Canadian team that doesn’t sell out all its games so supposedly they watch the pennies there.
There are designated leaders (whom wear the letters). Passing it to someone other than the guys on that list sends a bad message to the leaders and can put a riff in the team dynamics.
Having said that, I do agree with your leadership assesment of Mr Darche.
I’ve read a few different reports stating Melnyk basically told Murray that if he gives Clouston the ax, he’ll be shown the door right with him. No idea how credible that is, but it does make sense on a few levels.
Ottawa is toast for this year. With that in mind, the only smart thing to do is keep going south. There are four blue chippers in this year’s draft so Murray’s new prime directive is to grab one of them. That player will then eventually replace Alfie.
Unless they sign Kovalev to a long-term extension.
We may have stumbled on to why Andrei Kostitsyn plays the way he does. In that article Darche is quoted as saying “The forwards have to hold each other accountable…If you start deviating, you don’t want to come to the
bench and have players telling you to wake up. Our coaches prepare us
well, but the biggest pressure for a player is the other players. You
know that if you play selfishly, someone will be right in your face.” When Andrei comes to the bench and the players say to him “You piece of sh*t, wake up” he hears “Great shift! Keep it up!!”

One could also say excellent article on Darche by Basu. Is it me? Or is Darche really as good (valuable is a better term) as I’ve been wondering for 2 years now. Perhaps we are witnessing the birth of a great coach in Darche? He doesn’t whine when he’s sent to the pressbox and he picks himself up and dusts himself off when he gets flattened (see last night) A true leader by example, and a very bright bilingual McGill Man. Let’s put the Gorges A on him.
One question, though, is whether a new coach would alter Ottawa’s fortunes. There is a rot in that organisation not all that different from another Ontario-based team.

Considering Martin’s penchant for breaking up lines that are working, I’m wondering why he hasn’t paired Desharnais and Max. They were 1-2 in AHL scoring playing on a line together after all. Logic would say it’s working on the farm, let’s see if it will work on the big club…
F’ing TSN, acting like it’s a big deal that Pittsburgh has missed important pieces of their team for all but 4 games this season. Well what about the Habs? Their perennial MVP, Markov, has only played a couple of games all year. We are now missing our top shutdown d-man, Gorges, for the rest of the year, and our best sniper, Cammalleri, is still out. Bunch of douchebags.
Last week I guy I know said the he had it 100% confirmed that Crosby didn’t play because he received death threats in Montreal and not because he had a concussion. The guy said 100% confirmed source.
I asked him why Crosby would then miss the next five games too. He didn’t seem to have a valid answer.
I would rather keep Cammi…send SJ AK-46 and a bag of pucks for Marleau. I woul dlove to get Marleau up front for us. I think SJ may want to move him to clear up some cap sapce for younger talent signings this summer.
Yeah, it kind of sounded like Barnaby is in favour of Price being run over if he comes out of his net. Sounds a bit extreme. But maybe I didn’t understand him correctly, I was only barely listening.
Because the real intelligent players and former stars either made enough money to not have to work in broadcasting, or have actual real jobs in the league.
Some blogger by the name of Rick Keene is “reporting” it.
After all the things Cammy’s said about how much he loves playing in Montreal, and the way in which he raised his game last playoffs, I call that rumour total BS.
I don’t want this to be taken as an endorsement of Neil, as I don’t want him on the team either, but I think his rep for only taking on small guys is unfair. So far this year, his fights include: Colton Orr, Chara, and Deryk Engelland.
I like the boys to continue the surge again tonight!
Sharks are facing the heat big time here in the Bay. If they don’t turn it around against the Oilers Thurs, Wilson will seriously look at making a move which could present an opportunity for the Habs.
My wife and her whole family are Leaf fans. Shortly after we first met, we made a bet on a Hab/Leaf game. She lost and she had to wear my Habs jersey home to visit her folks. When her dad came to get her at the airport, he walked right past her not recognizing. It was beautiful! They are all still Leafs fans, whateryagonnado?
Darche is playing because Martin wants a hardworking example to showcase. He’s not that good, but he does provide some leadership to the younger players and he works hard without complaining.
In the absence of another player to take his spot he’s a good fill in type guy. We dont have an up and comer in Hamilton to take that spot so he’s good for this year.
Next year Palushaj, White, and Endqvist may be ready to move up.
I’m pleading with the Montreal fan-base to stop talking about this buffoon. We already got rid of one headcase in Lapierre, lets not bring in another one in Neil.
Damn, I better tell my fiancee (a leaf fan) that it’s over. Nevermind the fact she’s bought me two of my three Habs jerseys and a hockey painting signed by Beliveau.
Darche is a journeyman AHL player. He’s having a good year and getting lots of icetime from a coach that likes him.
We should avoid thinking he is more than that. The career NHL guys are not going to accept an A on this guys sweater, nor has he done anything that even remotely qualifies him to wear it.
He’s a good example for the young guys but the older players dont look up to him.
Am I alone in the confusion over the Darche lovein? He’s missing so many chances it’s ridiculous. If having pucks deflect off you into the net is all it takes for Habs fans to heap praise onto a player, we’ve got big problems.
I appreciate the grit, I do, but come on now he’s just not that good.
The Pouliot and Wiz penalties are penalties in the post-lockout NHL. Anytime you place your stick above the waist of the opposing player, it’s a penalty. I’m ok with that, but if that’s the rule, then at least call it from the start of the game.
The first two periods were filled with slashes and hooks from both teams that went uncalled, then all of a sudden they are penalties in the 3rd? All I ask for is some consistency…
Exactly, this is what is wrong with the officiating. You either call it both ways all the time or don’t call it at all. This is probably one of the worst officiated habs games all season. You have to wonder how frustrated the players are knowing on most nights they are getting the short end of it with the officiating.
I think I know more than most about hockey and believe my opinions are almost always reasonable and thought out.-manapart.
Lol the paranoia on this site astounds me still (I really should know better) the refs are not out to get us, we had a bit of a letdown tonight, but thats to be expected after landing late and playing last night. We are playing good hockey overall right now, bounce back and win the next one

Habs can only blame themselves for these calls. Most Hab fans won’t agree as emotional run high but seriously, they are playing with a complete lack of discipline. All of them STUPID calls.
And yet for some reason, at the beginning of the year all the pundits said it came down to the play of Carey Price. How about our ability to score, namely in 5 on 5 situations?
They are not calling the game the way they did in the 1st is what I object too, not conspiracy as much as general incompetence and poor judgement. Call the game the same way in the 1st period, or admit you’re doing a garbage job and your position of authority is a joke.
Take a hike!! No Habs fan deep down can believe that, we played shut down Hockey last year in the playoffs, was all hard work, and we will do it again when we make it this year!
Just one game, I am pissed as anyone else, but its not the end of the world folks!
The Refs did blow tonight for all you non-believers! The Pens are always spoiled when we play them.
Oh please….watch the game why don’t you. If you bothered to replay these calls like I do…you would see that they were bogus. Especially the one where Pouliot barely touched the guy who then dove to the ice ….sniper in the crowd? We get hosed everytime we play.
As for Price….useless. Tell it like it is. Two on the short-side! Then he flops around and can’t cover the puck in the crease. Don’t blame Hamerlik. Price lost the puck before Hamerlik bumped him.
It may be a long few months, if he starts playing like he did last year. Lord help us, if the Leafs keep winning…ugh
Its funny because he was saying you would be around any second after we lose……….
I tend to look for the usual suspects when it comes to certain aspect of the conversation. However I also choose to wait for the person to actually say something I disagree with to jump in.
I know alot of people think you are so called ‘troll’ but i have never found that to be the case. However many subjects or idea we may disagree on, your comments are not the simple HABS SUCK NO MATTER WHAT drivel, and you do usually have backing and reasoning behind your posts. Even if I disagree with that too…
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
Hey Captain Smith…the Habs don’t have enough life boats…You did go down with the ship didn’t you?
Anyway…explain to me why the second last team in the NHL last year (Toronto), had the MOST POWER-PLAYS IN THE LEAGUE AND THE FEWEST OR CLOSE TO THE FEWEST, SHORT-HANDED SITUATIONS? The answer can be found on the grassy knoll.
Very disappointed, but we had fun all day in Montreal and at the Bell Center before the game.
The first nearly two periods were competitive and enjoyable. But then stupid started creeping back into our game, we looked like each player was trying to out do the other, for best turn over, dumbest penalty, or stupidest play. We were done like dinner with the 1st penalty in the 3rd. It was over! and we left with 8 min left.
Osgood has 3. Giguere has 1. Does that mean anything?
You are making the claim that the Pens were somehow motivated by Price’s pose. The Pens had plenty to be motivated regardless of the pose. Their effort/win had nothing to do with Price’s pose last week.
See simply admitting that capitalizing God is normal says something.
And while wondering about it, actually doing it shows something too.
It just shows that you respect the idea of God.
I guess its only correct to capitalize something you believe in. Then again growing up Catholic brings alot of the guilt with it. Or just as simple as a spelling error (Hawkins) is mindless, so might be capitalizing God…
ahhhhhhh philosophy.
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
Every team uses press clippings, do the New England Patriots ring a bell.
Look he did something without thinking a spur of the moment. And he paid a price for it.
I would be very disappointed if he did it again. But I don’t care about it. I just want to say that teams with millionaire players use it ALL the time.
Another example is the fact that Quebec goalies always play better in Montreal.
Also Tom Brady always brings up the fact he was drafted in the 6th round. Sounds like motivation.
Just to let you know Dizzy in N.Y. I was at the game and Price played great. It would have been 10 to 2 without his fantastic saves.
Pouliot just might find himself in Hamilton again, he is taking one or two penalties every game. Tonight he took 3. After him getting the winner last game with a very pretty goal, he decided to get stupid this game. And he was not alone.
Back to back while on the road I’m fine with, your on the road – it’s expected. Even back to back while at home is ok by me. But away then home back-to-back against some rested Western team who had to travel to play us (Boo hoo) is the scenario that bugs me. Trust me, when we travel to Vancouver they won’t be playing in Edmonton the night before. Vancouver’s Eastern trip earlier this year saw them play 5 or 6 games all with days off in between for travel and rest. When we hit Van-Cal-Edm we will surely play 3 games in 4 nights.
What the bigger motivation: avenging having your golf clubs handed to you by an underdog in last year’s playoffs, or a players celebrating a well-earned victory?
My guess would be the former. Give them a bit of credit for having a memory longer than a week.
If that’s the case, then then every team should worry about giving the opposition “locker room material”… by, say, beating them in a rout, celebrating highlight-reel goals, showboating after winning a fight, knocking them out of the playoffs…
Teams will make a case out of anything to say that they’ve been disrespected if it works in their favour. That’s why Price’s poses are such a non-issue.
I caught the last 90 seconds of this one.Just enough time to tabulate the BPM numbers.Someone is going to have to explain to me how so many Habs end in the plus column when we lose by three.
On the numbers: Pleks and Price led with +3 ratings.Eller and Wiz each scored +2.Pyatt, Patches, Darche, DD, Pouliot, Halpern and Weber end with +1s.Subban and Gionta end neutral and Gomez gets a -1.
Gill, Hamr, Spacek, Moen and AK get the old time radio award for being the Invisible Men.
Who’s leg do I have to hump to get a martini around here?
Mediocrity rears it’s ugly head once more. Habs need a Big Forward, I wonder if somehow a deal could be made for Ignila ? He carries a large salary (which Calgary would have to participate in paying,at least until the season ends) The change would be good for everyone,.but most likely impossible to pull off. However the alternative of this up & down rollercoaster team,is getting hard to take.We never know which team shows up. As for the officiating ,well that’s always been suspect.
For all the conspiracy theorists who feel that the NHL refs and Bettman himself are influencing the outcomes. Get real!
Do you think the coach of the Montreal Canadiens will say the team played undisciplined, or that the refs conspired to give the Pens an advantage?
Do you think Geoff Molson who has more to lose than any of us fans, will hold a news conference to voice outrage of a huge conspiracy lead by Gary Bettman to hold his team back?
The Pens outplayed, out skilled, out coached and outworked the Habs. No conspiracy.
“I don’t like to keep kids like that out of the lineup. They need to play; that’s how they’re going to get better.” Jacques Martin
With all the issues Price has had on breakaways this season I think he was showing his teamates that he can stop a breakaway, screw Pitt, Fleury choked in game 7 last year and cried like a baby, and he Mocks Price after the game has been decided. Why can a goal scorer do what ever but a goalie cant show a little emotion,
If you had done your homework you would have discovered that Price is hardly the first goalie to “strike a pose” after a big win. Jacques Plante used to get a lot of grief from the opposition for what they felt was unnecessary celebration after a victory.
Price himself has also done it previously, after stoning the Lightnig in a shootout a while back. Nothing new here.
The way things are going in Calgary, I don’t think anyone is untouchable. He’s one of a select few forwards that could be had that would actually help this team in the short and long term. I realize Feaster is not Sutter and may not do a Phaneuf for spare parts type trade, but Montreal could put together an intriguing package for him. It’s definitely worth making a few phone calls over, unless Gauthier is dumb enough to disregard the fact that Cammalleri and Iginla made for a lethal pair of wingers on the Calgary powerplay a few seasons back
I don’t see it as a butt kickin’, though the score suggests it was. It turned into a one-sided, 3rd period, special teams battle which we lost. Unfortunately, we weren’t smart enough to stop putting our sticks near the Pens hands. Fortunately for them all of their drive-by can-openers were ignored by the refs. At some point you have to adjust your discipline to stay alive in the game.
Just like Storm Man, I hurt his feelings once and now he feels it necessary to make inane replies to all my posts. The fact neither one is even on topic seems to be irrelevant. The only purpose is to soothe their poor little hurt feelings. LOL
Yes, I am reading “The Grand Design” by Stephen Hawkins. How is the latest Twilight book?
“I don’t like to keep kids like that out of the lineup. They need to play; that’s how they’re going to get better.” Jacques Martin
Plane used to throw his arms into the air after a win; it may seem tame by today’s standards, but at the time it was considered showboating by the opposition. I’m pretty sure that if you do a simple search on YouTube you can find him doing it.
Horrid game by Spacek and Pouliot. Bad penalties and giveaways lost the game. We can complain all night about a soft goal or two, but they won by 3 goals. No blaming Price for the loss, it goes to the defence and bad penalties.
Terrible. What a great game up until that bad late 2nd period goal
I crunched some numbers to test the tired hypothesis.Prior to tonight’s game, Auld started five times.Carey had consecutive runs of: 9, 12, 6, 8 and 3 games.
There are two ways to look at his stats.First, how did he do in each of the runs.If fatigue is a factor, his runs of 9, 12, and 8 games should show worse numbers than the 6 and 3 game runs.
First 9: 6-2-1 with a 2.32 GAA and .913 SV%
Next 12: 7-5-0; 1.77; and .947
Next 6: 4-1-1; 1.83 and .940
Next 8: 2-6-0; 3.59 and .867
Recent 3: 2-0-1; 2.20 and .921
The numbers are a mixed bag.So, let’s move on to an analysis of his performance by game. For example, how does he play in the first game after a break, then the second, third, etc.
Game 1s (5 games): 1-3-1; 3.20; and .893
Game 2s (5): 3-1-1; 2.55; and .920
Game 3s (5): 3-1-1; 2.36; and .927
Game 4s (4): 2-2-0; 1.10; and .905
Game 5s (4): 4-0-0; 1.51; and .943
Game 6s (4): 1-3-0; 2.77; and .901
Game 7s (3): 2-1-0; 1.34; and .949
Game 8s (3): 2-1-0; 2.08; and .933
Game 9s (2): 1-1-0; 3.05; and .882
Game 10s (1): 1-0-0; 0.00; and 1.000
Game 11s (1): 0-1-0; 3.05; and .933
Game 12s (1): 1-0-0; 1.01; and .960
Accepting the one game 10 he played as outlier due to a small sample size, Price plays his best games at game 5, dips at game 6 and comes back strong in 7s and 8s.
Makes it tough to suggest that he’s tired.Seems like the he was just cold for the latter part of December. The optimal run for him seems to be about 7 games.
Who’s leg do I have to hump to get a martini around here?
I am so sick of watching Montreal get penalized for every single possible infraction, while the opponents only get penalized when it is a 100% completely obvious flagrant foul that occurs within 3 feet of a watching ref. Every single game..sick.
Yeah what a joke, Fluery is the result of Crosby and the loser draft pick squad. On any other team he’d be where he belongs – last place in save percentage.
I checked and they said he was arrogant and eccentric.
Lets put this to rest by saying it will be doubtfull that Price will do that again. Players and coaches will use anything to motivate the team. Look at the Patriots vs Steelers, Jets etc….
The second and third goals were a little soft I must say, ok the third was a lot of soft. The timing of the third was the worst part. During the losing streak there seemed to be a late period goal every game. When they started winning again there wasn’t any and they even scored a few
Price was posing after stopping a shoot-out win. Its about HIM having a little fun. Its abt HIS save;
-How does this not motivate the Pens to play a little harder the next time….like tonight?
-Fleury at the end of this game tonight does likewise. So this isn’t a little payback?
-Did anyone notice how much more focused Matt Cooke was on playing as opposed to agitating?
So tonight Price lets in 5 goals. If you’re going to gloat like Muhammed Ali, you better win your next fight against Fraser, Foreman or Liston. Carey Price has an impressive resume coming to the NHL; Wrold Championships and a Calder Cup but until you hv a Conn Smythe or a couple Veznia’s. Zip it.
Sorry, I should have reiterated from last night that the BMP is the Boone Plus Minus. Plus one for positive comments about a player in Boone’s live gameblog. A minus one for a negative comment. Net the numbers and viola — BPM.
Who’s leg do I have to hump to get a martini around here?
So? Clear the zone. Problem solved. No goals if theres no shots on net. I don’t understand why with 2 mins to go they panic and go into turtle mode. Oh lookout Price! LOOKOUT! WHAT THE SH*T WHY DIDNT YOU STOP EVERYTHING?
No, clear the zone. Like any other moment of the game. There’s zero excuse for playing like panicked school children.
Thanks. I missed the first 58 1/2 minutes of the game and PVR taped a blacked-out channel. I’m sure Price played great. This information was for SmartDog would mentioned yesterday that Price is tired. I think he was in slump in December and can carry the load when he’s on this game. Of course, even the best goalie needs some defensive support and a couple of goals.
Who’s leg do I have to hump to get a martini around here?
Oh my God…for F**k sake…the team played tired and were beaten by a more motivated and rested team. PERIOD!
If you are tired you tend to cheat, taking stupid lazy penalties (3 for Pouliot and too many men on the ice). Seems we did that to ourselves tonight tonight.
The “pose” had nothing to do with the result of the game…players love to upstage each other and take everything they can from the other team to motivate themselves…maybe the pose was over the top…but far worse is the PK – Price low 5…that has to go even Gill gets that and is trying to get them to stop it…Gill understand the way teams will use anything to motivate them against another team. Why push fate…celebrate but don’t gloat. Maybe it is about “respect” afterall.
Tonight I thought our best line at times was the Desharnais, Eller line…lots of hunger to stay with the team.
Tonight PK Subbie sucked…trying to be too cute with his spinaramas, trying to skate the puckout of the zone when there were pass options to headman the puck, winding up for the slap shot and breaking his stick instead of releasing a quick wrister on net….then there’s Webber…just too small on D.
We still need a big scoring forward to complement what we have …
So if we are still whining about Bettman, Referees, Poses, Price or whatever…it’s time to “suck it up Princess” and move on.
No Price posed and the Penguins used it to motivate themselves.
Might also have to do that Pittsburgh Penguins are a lot better than the Canadiens ?
Also the video says, MTL has no physical D, so you can screen Price and never get hurt. Also that MTL are easily moved from the front of the net. That PK is prone to do errors when pressed. That the D is slow.
Also that Charlie Sheen was seen with porno actresses in Vegas.
Price should have immediately skated to the other end of the ice after beating Pittsburgh, apologized to the glorified minor leaguer in net for the Pens that night.
Total disrespect.
The Habs should just forfeit the next game so as not to upset Mario “I’m a US Citizen” Lemieux and the rest of the overhyped Penguins and their Les Nessman lookalike coach.
So on a different topic I’d love to vent on how much I hate the back-to-back scenario where the second game is your home game and the visiting team is already waiting and practicing in your building. I’m sure we’re not the only ones who deal with it but we seem to get an awful lot of them every year. Not much of a home advantage is it?
The greatest part of religion is you simply cannot prove there is no God.
Also of interest is the fact that you capitalized the word God…
I find that his take on the subject is almost God like itself. Its interesting his assumption that he has all the answers. But truely a great mind where most are trying to catch up to him.

Spring is an excellent time to go fishing. Do you enjoy bull heads? They are in season during the early part of the playoffs. A great way to bond with your friends. Just make sure you have a license to fish in your respective jurisdiction. Otherwise you might have a fluke outcome that would not be to your liking.
Spacek was beast last night. A critical blocked shot; sprinting for the icing touch up; clearing a puck from Auld’s goal line; and the goal, the boys are scratching out these last few games with defense.
Great link. I’m glad otheres are taking notice of what many take for granted.
cammys not playing tonight! call me a conspiracy theorist, but why do i have the feeling cammy is not sick. i mean if he was sick shoulve not played in the boston game, but he did and i didnt see anything wrong with him. fishy… anyways its just my opinion.
anyone blaming lack of discipline is a moron. maybe it is a problem for a couple of calls, but Hammer was pushed into Price on the one goal, and hookings are being called without any hooking (Wiz) going on and slashing with no real contact (Pouliot). The Refs are having a BAD night and it is kiiiillling us. you can’t win 6 on 8. We never had a chance tonight the way the whistles have gone.

‘Anyone blaming lack of discipline is a moron’???????????
Are you watching? Pouliots penalties were all deserved, Same with the Wiz. Too many men, what are you going on about?
OUR TEAM is having a bad night. Its ok, we are doing pretty good without Cammi, Markov or Gorges. Not tonight though. We are off tired and undisciplined.
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
Ok refs, comon. Its more than 15 seconds you havent given the Pens a PP!!!! lets get serious, they need another one. Make Bettman happy. Remember, he told u PIT had to win tonigjt. Lose 4 straight without Crosby?, no thats just too much. Not good for the ratings, not good for the NHL…it was written in the sky PIT was winning tonight guys…

I got AK at under 64.5 pts, with Triple X and Tom Nickle.
Can’t win em all…and I would like to welcome back Triple X and his fellow doomsday preachers to the fold, seeing as the Habs have lost I am sure they will be here anytime now! Also sometime within the next 24 hours Retromikey will tell us how he knew we were not a good team and that we are not going to make the playoffs! I don’t know about everyone else…but I am excited!!

6 unanswered penalties against the Habs, say what you will but this happens everytime we play the Pens, almost as if Bettman is right behind the Pens bench. The NHL knows how to slow the momentum of the Habs, you just witnessed it again!
When do the Habs get the “courtesy” call? I sense a chintzy assed Vince McMahon inspired total piece of crap call coming up from Fartass and St. Queer Air in 30 seconds.
Are you watching this game? The penalties are deserved. Such a dumb theory that Bettman has anything to do with the refs against the Habs. We are playing like crap, and are undisciplined. We are getting a well deserved beating.
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
Well actually, he’s a goalie and as such he “should” have stopped all of them. There are times when not even a good goalie, and Price is a good goalie, can stop every shot that he “should” have stopped.
Brings up a good question though. When someone says “he’s got to stop those” does that mean there are some shopts he doesn’t have to stop versus those he has to stop?
For those going on and on about JM winning the last few game s for us , well tonight he lost it for us. That stupid line shuffle at the end of the second resulted in that too many men call. Not to mention a perfect set up from Spacek and a weak save attempt by Price.
Im going to be sick if i hear about this motivation for the penguins by Prices pose anymore. Gimme a break. A player can celebrate but not a goalie? F off TSN
Um yea, kinda hard to score when u get 8 penalties vs 2… Some were deserved, yes. But id say 4 of them were just the usual cheap calls that only the Pens get. Ive never seen a more spoiled team in the NHL.
You wanna call Pouliots slash, fine. But call the slash he gets right after he gives one. He went to shoot, lost the pucck because of the slash, and then scored. Call it fair, or just dont. And we both know when the Pens play us, its never fair…Mtl PP with a minute left, thanks thats gonna help…

Some reference to your maturity for picking a movie quote for a tag line. A movie quote! I kid you not. Guarantee the little guy has never read Tolkien.
I’m not gonna say that all our penalties weren’t penalties, but its hard to believe that Pitt has commited no infractions since early in the 1st period. That is total BS.
And the corrupt officials pull the power play out for the Habs and smirk in their locker room after. I hope someone superglues it shut and tosses in a stink bomb.
So then why are players allowed to celebrate after a goal by jumping into the glass, but when a goalie makes the game-winning save it’s called ‘giving the opposition fodder’?
Not sensitive, just wondering about the motives. Price had reason to hotdog after making a game winning save. Fleury was just thumbing his nose at him.
It’s a double standard and I’ll admit it. You don’t normally see a goalie do that sort of thing so I guess that’s what makes it what it is. Nothing wrong with a little fist pump when scoring a goal but I’m not a big fan of trying to do the Lambeau leap. Act like you’ve scored before and like you’re going to do it again. The way Cammy celecbrates a goal is perfect.
Hey, if he had made a massive save to seal the victory, then I’d say go for it. But he had one of his easiest games of the season, so it came across as childish rather than celebratory. He should have saved it for a moment that really deserved it.
I have trouble accepting that Hammer has less than one hit per game. I know he’s not as physical as he used to be, but I think the scorekeepers have been shortchanging him.
Disagree completely. On the first goal Letang made a great play, passing to Kennedy while Price couldn’t see the puck, so by the time anyone realized Kennedy had the puck it was too late. On the second Price is in position, on the post, his team has possession and then Spacek puts it right on Staal’s tape in the slot, a luck shot squeaks through Price’s arm, and that’s weak? Get real yourself Steve. You always talk about respect, show some yourself as well. The Penguins have 23 shots and it seems like about 26 scoring chances this game, Price is the only reason we’re even in the game. Stop being a curmudgeon who hates everything.
I totally agree that Price has made great stops. Four or five have been game savers (Dupuis). But he got beat twice on the short side. That’s just what I saw.
Your last sentence makes no sense to me. I think I see both sides of the glass.
You’ve been pretty curmudgeonly all season Steve. Taking the devil’s advocate in every conversation it seems. Just telling you to lighten up a bit. And getting beat in the same spot doesn’t make either goal weak, it means two goals went in at the same spot, that’s all. If anything could be said about that goal, its that Staal’s shot was extremely lucky to find a hole.
Yes, I am sure Ottawa would relish adding another Russian underachiever….

Ummm the Sens would do that trade in a split second. They have no scoring and would be giving up a 3rd/4th line grinder that occasionally fights for a 20/25 goal scorer with untapped potential.
“Untapped potential” seems to be all anyone can ever say positively about Andrei Kostitsyn. He isn’t John LeClair, who could have won the 1993 playoff MVP as easily as Patrick Roy. I would be thrilled if Kostitsyn could become the player Timmins thought he would, but the problem is there simply is no defined place for him on the Habs. Kostitsyn isn’t intelligent enough to kill penalties, he isn’t sufficiently consistent as a scorer to get top six ice time, and he is too indifferent to play on third or fourth lines. Too many posters here think our opponents will trade a quality forward for Kostitsyn solely on the “potential” he might provide. In my opinion, this is unrealistic.

That’s all fine and dandy, but the guy showed he can score between 20 and 30 goals in a full season, is a big body, and still has potential. You can dismiss it all you like, but potential is an attribute GM’s take into consideration.
If we traded him midway through the season for as little as Chris Neil, I’d be pretty disappointed.
Kostitsyn has has showed he can score 30 goals? He scored 26 in 2007-08, 23 in 2008-09, 15 in 2009-10, and is on pace for 19 this season. The conclusion here is that Kostitsyn is regressing, not developing. It would seem your claim he can score 30 goals is really what is “fine and dandy.”

Perhaps careful reading is a skill you need to refine. I never claimed the Habs would (or should) trade Kostitsyn for Neil. I doubted whether Ottawa would want yet another player who has manifestly demonstrated an inability to integrate within a team structure–which really is Ottawa’s central problem at this point. Who knows though. If Ottawa wants to talk trade with Montreal about Kostitsyn, why not see what could be offered?

At some point, and I’m not saying I disagree with you about Kostitsyn, a team has to make an assessment based on results rather than supposed potential. Kostitsyn was from arguably the finest draft class of the decade, and when you compare his results against those of other equally gifted and skilled forwards from that class you see that many of them have tapped their offensive potential and are living up to the expectations foisted upon them.
Now, goals aren’t everything but when you take a look at the guys taken in that first round, look how many of them also have a letter on the front of their jersey or a Cup to their name, and contribute to their teams in many ways in addition to their offensive output. That is realized potential, and for players that were drafted 7.5 years ago, that’s where they should all be at.
See my post above concerning Kostitsyn’s NHL seasonal goal output. Frankly, to view Kostitsyn’s performance as anything other than regression and decline is to be, with all due respect, willfully ignorant.

I’m ambivalent about Kostitsyn that either a trade or more patience is the way to go, but there are no players taken in the 03 draft that have more points then him with less games played. He is infront of a few players who have played more games as well. It’s time to stop comparing him to Richards, though the Carter pick at 11 is a bit of a tough pill, comparisons to Backes and Pavelski might be more accurate. I put out a counter argument that Kostitsyn is probably just coming out of a fog that spanned how many coaches? Julien, Gainey, Carbonneau, then Gainey again then Martin?
Beyond pathetic. No offence, on PP, crappy D. If Price has an ordinary game this team is screwed.
Habs must have the most useless top 5 forwards in the league. Every single one of them is an overpaid shameless bum who just wastes air and nothing else.
I’m actually confident that we can come back and win this. This team is not a fantastic team. We’re outscoring ‘em 5-on-5. If we can stay out of the box and produce some sustained pressure and rushes like we did in the middle of the 2nd, we’ve got a damn good shot.
Man if only we could have kept it tied going into the third. I don’t know if they have enough in the tank to come back hard. Who knows they might play harder a goal down rather than tied up.
I will never understand too many men penalties. 3 coaches….AND NOT ONE GRABS THEIR SWEATER?? Don’t you idiots count? Grab the player before he tries to jump over. Scream at those who are listing off the ice slowly.
Sorry but too many men is very much a coaching issue, and I’m not blaming JUST Martin here. Muller and Pearn need to watch too
Once again the Refs refuse to call a penalty against the other team. There should have been a call for the grab on Pleks no call. Once again the refs are afraid to make a call they know they will get the phone call this is killing this team. The refs just snink of Favoritism .
What the hell was JM doing with the lines…the bench was a mess, no wonder they took a too many men penalty. No one probably had a clue what line they were supposed to be on.
Last goal was awful. Price can be so good, but theres alwaaays a soft one.
Respectfully disagree. So because Price posed, the Penguins wanted to win the game more? If he hadn’t posed, the Pens would have just gone through the motions and been OK with a loss?
Hogwash. All these guys want to win every game. The whole “bulletin board material” thing makes nice TSN headlines, but is overblown, in my opinion.
The System will make its presence known in the third. The first sign will be a massive gelling of the Eller line resulting in him getting a holding penalty 200 ft from the Habs net.
this is the type of game gion,ak46,gomez are paid to produce in …when the pk vs pp is minus 2 you usually dont win..one period to turn it around…ak46 …ah forget it there is nothing to say about him…
As an aside, the question begs to be asked — What’s up with Washington? Losing 0-3 to Tampa Bay and even letting Simon Gagné score… Are they really after Boudreau’s head and if so, why hasn’t it been handed to them on a platter yet?
Great seats! Twenty rows behind the net the Habs shot on twice. Actually saw the twine bulge on Pouliot’s winner. I was surprised how many Habs fans were at MSG last night.
Painful but beats the heck out of watchin’ that game at the Madison Grease Gardens, last night. Place is in serious need of a scrub down, let alone major overhaul. And that dryer buzzer they use to signal the end of the period has to go. Like watchin’ The Rocket, minus the nostalgia.
Price has been both spectacular and not spectacular tonight. Hopin’ for more of the former in the third cuz there has been some suspect D. Moreover, the forwards had all sorts of opportunities to go ahead in the second and just couldn’t cash. It’s one thing for Fleury to make the save, somethin’ entirely different when a misfired reflex kills yer finish.
Frickin’ Howie Meeker’s sittin’ on his La-Z-Boy at home, wavin’ a hockey stick at his old black-and-white, and yellin’ for the guys to keep both hands on the stick and the blade on the ice.
leafs played their 4th game in six and the night before they played ans vs a rested san jose team scored 4 goals in the third..cannot use last night bas an excuse
when guys score goals they pump fists, jump into the glass, etc, yet when price celebrates its the end of the world. it was an unbalanced, disorganized, ugly game made uglier by flurry’s little insult – i just hope they play it in the room before the next Pitt game.
Martin needs to do his job and chew out the refs in his post game conference, that was beyond ridiculous. The same referee calling three penalties on the same player, and all of the last six in a row on Montreal. The only one of Pouliot’s that was anywhere near a penalty was the high stick and an unsportsmanlike minor should have been asessed to the Pittsburgh player who shot his head back like he got punched in the face, just pathetic. Their whole team does it, very unprofessional
Agree. The Habs got away from their system and there wasn’t good support for the D or Price. But the outcome of the game was orchestrated by the refs. Pouliot lays the lumber on Kennedy and scores. Ok, that’s a penalty, but the retaliation was the same call and guess what? No call. Two of the other calls on Pouliot were dives or embellishment. That’s an unsportmanlike penalty. Too bad the refereeing is the real story of the game. Professional hockey, yes, but to enjoy it you have to live with the house league refereeing.
I really don’t see what the heck the big deal over the Pose is. Who cares? Guys who score goals have little things they do like pump their fists, ride their sticks, etc…why can’t goalies do something from time to time just for fun? Listening to some people you’d think he committed the worst sin in hockey. Fleury did it back to us and I found it hilarious. I’d love to see the rest of the Pens/Habs for the next few years have this on-going “battle” between Fleury and Price. See who gets to pose each game.
I think the Pens were probably more ticked off because of the Boston game and that’s what got them going tonight. Yeah, the Pose probably had something to do with it somewhat, but I think the Bruins ticked them off more. If I were on the team I’d be more ticked off about that than what Price did.
Well, Pouliot got a great hat trick tonight. Thanks P.
What I don’t get about this team is if they follow the system they usually have success. When they play like they did tonight they usually lose and it’s usually pretty ugly. Why do they allow themselves to get so sloppy? I can see mistakes happening, ok that’s normal, but after a point you’d think it would start to sink in and they’d work even harder to correct it.
Heard you guys in CT were getting even more than us. My biggest problem is the wind putting all the snow back in the driveway within an hour of it being plowed. I have a jeep wrangler though so I can always get out.
Yeah, we got nailed pretty good here and this is after getting nailed on Friday. Took about 3 hours with the snowblower to clean the driveway but like you said with the wind it is already covered again. I haven’t even begin to tackle the sidewalk.
Next practice…I say JM ties the forwards to the net and have d-men fire pucks at them…
Remember the first Mighty Ducks movie…they did that to their goalie to help get over his fear of being hit with a puck.
We have to do something to get our players to get in front of the goalie to screen them…I’m just afraid that most of our guys with the exception of Darche and Gionta are afraid of being hit with a stray shot from the point…Try lashing Pouliot, AK, and a few others in turns to the posts and have PK and Hammer fire shots at them until they learn to relax and trust that play.
Is that wrong? Maybe a little too “old school” for today’s palyers?
The Pens have won a cup and to a man; everyone of their guys played hard and wanted to stick it to him tonite. I’m surprised by Carey’s action because alot of people hv mentioned his “new found” maturity but his display last game show that his still more interested in himself than his teams success. Call a spade a spade.
Give me a break. Dont showboat? How about every time someone scores they celebrate like crazy, but goalies cant? You have no idea what your talking about.
He didn’t showboat, he had a little fun after a brilliant shootout performance.
How is it on Price when they’re outshot and outchanced 2-1 all game? The Habs are about as dangerous offensively as the Washington Generals, and I don’t blame the players for that.
8 powerplays and 4 powerplay goals to me pretty much absolves the goalie. And don’t blame the refs (blame Campbell a little) because the Habs take penalties legitimately due to the on-their-heels defensive style Martin insists on.
We need a scorer, and the Leafs are going nowhere this season. We should try to pry that Grabovski away from them. A 2nd rounder should do it, right? LOLZ.
Seriously, PG needs to see what Colorado wants for Chris Stewart. I think he’s still out injured and they’re scoring without him..it could be possible..maybe…probably not.. I wish.
Only part of the Staal line Habs should fear is that cheap-shot wasteland that is Cooke, Staal is the lesser of the three brothers in the NHL and who cares who Tyler Kennedy is?
Who else has been impressed with Pacioretty since he got called up this year? Granted, I’m biased because I have a Pacioretty jersey, so of course I think he’s done pretty well haha.
Agreed, he looks much really great, scoring touch needs some improvement at the nhl level, but he’s doing just about everything spot on and the he can only get better, good hitter too
“I went to see a fight the other night…And A hockey game broke out!” ~Rodney Dangerfield~
That was totally a penalty. Gio gets hooked down, which gives the pens a 4 on 2. I know we’ve already had 2 pp’s, but that doesn’t mean they can ignore other penalties.
Plenty of NHL players have “rockets” for a shot, accuracy counts. Look at AK, and Staal is horrendously overrated, no playmaker’s vision and 20-goal scoring is not a unique skill set.
I’ll take Eric Staal! Hes amazing, Jordan is a pretty good hockey player…but I just dont like him for some reason, he looks like a dinosaur, maybe thats why?

I watch the NHL, not just the Canadiens. I’ve never been terribly impressed with Staal’s game. There are much better players that don’t get nearly as much press.
the goalie’s gotta keep his skate on the post when the puck’s in the corner, so when spacho gives staal a one-time pass from the corner, the goalie wont have time to pull his skate off the post to go into a full butterfly.
It was on the half boards, in Spacek’s possession and he had time. Yes, every goalie on the entire planet would expect a clearing attempt by Spacek, not a pass into the slot. This debate is ridiculous since Price has been phenomenal all game and the team has been utterly incompetent.
I’m not one to blame the refs, but tonight was an absolute farce. That tap Pouliot gave him happens to every player, countless times a game, that’s not a penalty. The guy muffed his pass, so they use it as an excuse to call a slash. Pouliot scores a legit goal, which at that time would have made it a one goal game and gave them a good shot of making a game out of it. It was just so frustrating to watch, the incosistency from game to game is inexcusable. These referees need to be held accountable, and not just behind closed doors in their little secret society. I hope somebody says something, I know if I was Pouliot I wouldn’t be holding back after that B.S
Yeah I have DirecTV and it is not listed on the center ice channels 769-785….it seems that I have at least 1 problem with center ice/directv a week…… so annoying. DO NOT BUY DIRECTV!
Been a Habs fan since I was in 2nd grade and sat behind Patrick Roy at the Aud.
AK46 needs more SPACE. If he was on the same line with a huge dangerous center that could draw all the attention from him, he’d be unstoppable. The dump n chase just isn’t his style.
MAB would have made a futile swipe at the puck, missed horribly, and Letang would have went in alone to either score, or be stopped in spectacular fashion by Price.
Agreed. For every time Weber gets outmuscled down low, Picard gets beaten to the outside 3 times. Plus Weber is actually a prospect so I’d like to see him be given time to improve.
Either I’m getting used to Webber or he’s getting a little better. Actually I do think he is looking a little more comfortable and he’s doing okay for an undersized rookie D.
I was a big time backer of obyrne and saw him as a 2nd pairing shutdown dman. I’m not surprised by what he is doing with the avs now that he is averaging over 20 minutes a game. I hope the prospect we got in return works out for us.
Well this game is over…Price sucked on those last 3 goals….gonna need to play better this 2nd half..hope the all-star selection doesn’t go to his head.

After the first period the Penguins must have had a chat with the officials, “Hey guys, we’re the Penguins remember? Stop giving us penalties, call a bunch on them instead”
I’d love someone on the Habs to shoot the puck right at the referee’s head. Hopefully it would draw blood. Furlatt and St. Pierre are the equivalent of what comes out of my dog’s butt twice a day.
i’ve read couple of articles by B.raymond, some of them were meh, some of them were respectable. but this.. im just speechless. How can you compare MAB to the wiz, and to say that they have the same physical element .. are you kidding me. he basically says wiz=mab at a higher price. wow just wow
Bertrand Raymond is full of s**t. He always believes that MAB is the one and only reason why we made the playoffs last year, and he hasn’t stopped talking up his boy since. Also more BS about Subban’s confidence got destroyed by Jacques Martin. Please.
Yep, with arms tied behind their backs right? I mean accoridng to logic displayed here anyway. Funny how Ovechkin, Crosby et al can celebrate to their hearts content.

….Hab4life….
I’ve read a few different reports stating Melnyk basically told Murray that if he gives Clouston the ax, he’ll be shown the door right with him. No idea how credible that is, but it does make sense on a few levels.
Agreed. Ottawa is toast.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
The ‘A’ rotated from Plek, Gomez, Cammy, etc. I would have no issue seeing it on Darche.
Cammi straight up for Havlat…that would work for me…Havlat is a big scoring winger, he’s 6′ 2″ and I would love to see him with Plekanec both Czechs.

Excellent article on Pouliot by Basu. http://montreal.ctv.ca/servlet/an/local/CTVNews/20110111/mtl_habshub_dailyhabit_110111/20110111/?hub=MontrealSports
OOH AAH – HABS ON THE WARPATH!
One question, though, is whether a new coach would alter Ottawa’s fortunes. There is a rot in that organisation not all that different from another Ontario-based team.

ughh il be in class… maybe i’ll leave a little early to watch the game..
feels like i havent seen a full habs game in so long

88 is the new 23
Gladly! We’d have the best player in the league, and an additional $5million in cap space savings to replenish our losses on D.
I don’t understand how Clouston has survived this long? It’s beyond the point of getting out of hand.
Everyone should flood the site with negative comments.
Ditto.
Ilemi.com works
Maybe he’s Eklund’s son.
Would you trade Cammi,Gorges and Markov for Crosby?
That’s the biggest BS ever… it’s because of idiots like that people don’t want to play here.
Thats a load of garbage, I would rather read Eklund, and I say that in all honesty. What a bunch of garbage. HES SICK!!!

Considering Martin’s penchant for breaking up lines that are working, I’m wondering why he hasn’t paired Desharnais and Max. They were 1-2 in AHL scoring playing on a line together after all. Logic would say it’s working on the farm, let’s see if it will work on the big club…
Bah! Nonsense…His “sources” lol this guy a new eklund?

That’s what the boob was saying, yes. We’ll take the 2 minutes.
Go Habs Go!
I just turned on TSN 4 minutes ago and haven’t heard in the last 3 seconds…is Sidney Crosby playing tonight?
Go Habs Go!
that is what i usually use, not working right now.
that is what i usually use, not working right now.
I agree Boone, Hiller’s mask does look way cool.
Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.
i like marleau too but he makes 7 mil a year…we have 2 mil in space (LTIR only) ak makes 3 so we would have to move another 2 mil in salary…
here is the article on Cammi wanting out, written yesterday
Yup, and he’s doing all bloggers a diservice by lowering himself…
Last week I guy I know said the he had it 100% confirmed that Crosby didn’t play because he received death threats in Montreal and not because he had a concussion. The guy said 100% confirmed source.
I asked him why Crosby would then miss the next five games too. He didn’t seem to have a valid answer.
Point being, people like to start rumours.
Its another case of mountainoutofmolehillitis
Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.
I would rather keep Cammi…send SJ AK-46 and a bag of pucks for Marleau. I woul dlove to get Marleau up front for us. I think SJ may want to move him to clear up some cap sapce for younger talent signings this summer.
atdhe.net
careful what you say around here…people will pounce quickly
Yeah, it kind of sounded like Barnaby is in favour of Price being run over if he comes out of his net. Sounds a bit extreme. But maybe I didn’t understand him correctly, I was only barely listening.
Because the real intelligent players and former stars either made enough money to not have to work in broadcasting, or have actual real jobs in the league.
Forget Chris Neil…I would rather have a Mike Fisher…we need scoring not fists.
but maybe he’s not as bad as the CBC former enforcers. He’s just saying what Pitt might do. But Price is big enough to take care of himself.
Apparently Matthew Barnaby doesn’t like Carey Price’s posing.
What’s with networks hiring only former enforcers/pests?
Problem is, my meds wear off during the first period
Some blogger by the name of Rick Keene is “reporting” it.
After all the things Cammy’s said about how much he loves playing in Montreal, and the way in which he raised his game last playoffs, I call that rumour total BS.
I think my favorite part of this blog is the Boone Commentary leading up to the game. It gets me pumped.
______________________________________ Long live Captain Gionta.
BOONEEEEE I agree Already Home is a sick track!!!
anybody have link to the game tonight?
Cammy for Marleau, straight up!
Dude, i’m not saying I believe it, I’m just saying I heard it
Don’t shoot the messenger.
It was actually Brian Burke in disguise. Grabovksi is coming back for Cammy.
I don’t want this to be taken as an endorsement of Neil, as I don’t want him on the team either, but I think his rep for only taking on small guys is unfair. So far this year, his fights include: Colton Orr, Chara, and Deryk Engelland.
That would explain Dr. Eric Lenczner accompanying off the ice in the middle of the Penguins game….
I like the boys to continue the surge again tonight!
Sharks are facing the heat big time here in the Bay. If they don’t turn it around against the Oilers Thurs, Wilson will seriously look at making a move which could present an opportunity for the Habs.
we just traded a chris neil to anaheim
Did anyone ever write an article or list of players that opted for the WHA back then, guys
that woulda made the 70s team even more legendary? Tardif, Houle, J.C.Tremblay off the top
of my head……just wonderin….
Ya gotta want it…
Heard on Mix 96 that Cammy asked to be traded. Anyone has anything on this?
Exactly, why get rid of Max only to get a downgrade in Neil? It’s stupid.
I’d rather have Pyatt than Neil. Heck I’d rather have Laraque.
Lapierre actually has some skill. Chris Neil is a dumb goon.
Some people’s comments astound me.
Look at the last weeks worth of games. Darche is involved in almost every important goal.
Chris Neil fights anybody? Chris Neil? He doesn’t fight ANY tough guys.
As someone who goes to a fair number of bulldogs games I’ll go along with Palushaj and White. Enqvist isn’t even close.
Nothing wrong with Chris Neil. Plays hockey well, hits hard and fights anybody.
More of an upside than Pyatt or Moen I’d say.
he’s a career minor leaguer.
if it weren’t for his last name, he wouldn’t even be on the habs.
And what do we do next year with our cap space? Markov,Gorges, Gill, Wiz,
Sounds like she’s had her spirit broken anyway. If you can convert her it’s still kosher.
For sure. Getting Kovy locked-up long term should be a priority for the Sens.

I appreciate the grit, I do, but come on now he’s just not that good.
he’s the dude with the pig-face!
It was a great shot
Again, 13 shots against, but any less scoring chances against than that? Staal misses the net there, so maybe more? It’s gotta be close at least.
DD will strike again, mark my words.
Poor Jaro. He has to play left AND right D with Weber out there.
so open-ended! tonight, or, what?
That;s a pretty weak call after how bad Eller got worked over when he had the puck in the corner.
8 shots halfway through. Gassed from back to back games.
I’m positive Price or anyone else CANNOT stop a 900 mph slap shot. Cmon…..

Carey Price. Brilliant.
Holy firewagon hockey batman!!!
Well this has been fun! The crowd is definitely back into it.
Don’t know why he tried to force a pass through 2 players when he had a wide open hamrlik for a drop pass.
Astute observation
even tho he is a pane
I know it doesn’t count for much in the grand scheme of things, but DD seems like a good guy
Good on Eller, he made that happen with the steal. Atta go DD! How is that rat-bastard Cooke in the crease and no one does anything?
Whoever claimed earlier that Kennedy didn’t have a great shot now needs to eat their serving of crow.
Hey Spacek, you make a better door than a window…
If you didn’t know who Tyler Kennedy was before, you probably do now.
Ray Ferraro: “Kennedy’s shot is a *rocket*”
Come on!
Jordan Staal actually wins a faceoff for once and it ends in a goal. FFFFF
Power play goals suck. Unless we score them, of course.
Centre Hice: Bruins to unveil new look vs. Habs
The Penguins are getting way too many high quality chances.
Was Price screened on that goal or just not expecting the shot?
Comon Gionta
He didn’t see Letang pass it to Kennedy until too late, hence why he was late coming over.
He was expecting it, but Spacek was partially screening him. I don’t think he saw it till it passed Spacek.
A guy with 7 goals over half a season, hard to find those…
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
Referees have been pretty bad, but Habs get called VERY OFTEN.
7 penalties today so far. Happens like every game.
Give Penguins chances like this and they will convert. 4 PPG tonight.
Undisciplined team.
Goodnight Irene.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Yeah. Goodnight. And f*ck you, refs.
Indiscipline
As “Dandy” Don Meredith would have said, “Send the doggies home, the party’s over!”
That I can agree with, but it’s not all on the refs, the Habs and particularly a Mr. Pouliot have been very undisciplined tonight.

Centre Hice: Bruins to unveil new look vs. Habs

This is why they’re called ambush games.

Just one game, I am pissed as anyone else, but its not the end of the world folks!
The Refs did blow tonight for all you non-believers! The Pens are always spoiled when we play them.
I love Price, but even I am sick of hearing and reading about him.

I doubt that.

I’d like to know what Led Zeppelin has to say. Madonna is too girly for me.

My guess would be the former. Give them a bit of credit for having a memory longer than a week.
Centre Hice: Bruins to unveil new look vs. Habs
Centre Hice: Bruins to unveil new look vs. Habs
I caught the last 90 seconds of this one. Just enough time to tabulate the BPM numbers. Someone is going to have to explain to me how so many Habs end in the plus column when we lose by three.
On the numbers: Pleks and Price led with +3 ratings. Eller and Wiz each scored +2. Pyatt, Patches, Darche, DD, Pouliot, Halpern and Weber end with +1s. Subban and Gionta end neutral and Gomez gets a -1.

Roloson appears to have the Caps’ number since being dealt to TB.

With all the issues Price has had on breakaways this season I think he was showing his teamates that he can stop a breakaway, screw Pitt, Fleury choked in game 7 last year and cried like a baby, and he Mocks Price after the game has been decided. Fatigue IMO hits harder a roster not sufficiently deep or talented. The Habs simply looked gassed and played like it.
No sense in bashing the team when it was apparent that the club was simply not ready to play tonight. Forget about
tonight’s game and just move on to Saturday’s repeat match against the Rangers. Should be a better showing by the

Go Habs Go!
Ok a little perspective.
The reason people were upset with Price’s crossed arm pose was that it was the first time anyone did that.
If he would have pumped his glove hand,no one would have said anything.
But if you’re the first one, people will notice.

Ok, a little perspective.

The HIO we know and love? You are right! hahaha

Centre Hice: Bruins to unveil new look vs. Habs
Ok – is Price tired?
I crunched some numbers to test the tired hypothesis. Prior to tonight’s game, Auld started five times. Carey had consecutive runs of: 9, 12, 6, 8 and 3 games.
There are two ways to look at his stats. First, how did he do in each of the runs. If fatigue is a factor, his runs of 9, 12, and 8 games should show worse numbers than the 6 and 3 game runs.
First 9: 6-2-1 with a 2.32 GAA and .913 SV%
Next 12: 7-5-0; 1.77; and .947
Next 6: 4-1-1; 1.83 and .940
Next 8: 2-6-0; 3.59 and .867
Recent 3: 2-0-1; 2.20 and .921
The numbers are a mixed bag. So, let’s move on to an analysis of his performance by game. For example, how does he play in the first game after a break, then the second, third, etc.
Game 1s (5 games): 1-3-1; 3.20; and .893
Game 2s (5): 3-1-1; 2.55; and .920
Game 3s (5): 3-1-1; 2.36; and .927
Game 4s (4): 2-2-0; 1.10; and .905
Game 5s (4): 4-0-0; 1.51; and .943
Game 6s (4): 1-3-0; 2.77; and .901
Game 7s (3): 2-1-0; 1.34; and .949
Game 8s (3): 2-1-0; 2.08; and .933
Game 9s (2): 1-1-0; 3.05; and .882
Game 10s (1): 1-0-0; 0.00; and 1.000
Game 11s (1): 0-1-0; 3.05; and .933
Game 12s (1): 1-0-0; 1.01; and .960
Accepting the one game 10 he played as outlier due to a small sample size, Price plays his best games at game 5, dips at game 6 and comes back strong in 7s and 8s.
Makes it tough to suggest that he’s tired. Seems like the he was just cold for the latter part of December. The optimal run for him seems to be about 7 games.
Who’s leg do I have to hump to get a martini around here?

Right. Price posed, so they lost. I suppose that’s what the coaching staff will dissect in the game video, right?
Centre Hice: Bruins to unveil new look vs. Habs
The second and third goals were a little soft I must say, ok the third was a lot of soft. The timing of the third was the worst part. During the losing streak there seemed to be a late period goal every game. When they started winning again there wasn’t any and they even scored a few
No, next question? Price did not lose them the game. Bad penalties and defence did.
I stand by my comment.
Price was posing after stopping a shoot-out win. Its about HIM having a little fun. Its abt HIS save;

Do you keep track of every time I make a comment on HIO? You need to get a life.
It is accepted in the English language, that sentences are started with a capital letter.
Idiot! See how easy that was?

There’s another back to back next week, Auld should be getting one of those starts for sure
It was taken from a book though, which the script was based on. Therefore, the line properly traces back to a book.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
I’d bet that he does do it again.
Centre Hice: Bruins to unveil new look vs. Habs
Last time I looked the Pens won a cup lately….
Also it was Fleury who did the game saving save against Detroit.
Let’s be objective and stop wearing Habs glases.
It’s easy when you’re on Mount Pious.
Sorry, Hawking.
Spelling errors do happen. Of course you could have surmised that because I gave the title of his book.
No?

Coleman’s brother…
***Subbang!!!***
Yes it was on their minds, but you’re suggesting the sole reason they won is because Price posed in victory. Saying that’s idiotic would be polite
Well, it’s safe to say that he hasn’t read the front cover….

I am constantly questioning whether there is a God.
Stephen Hawking is recognized as one of the greatest minds since Einstein. I am interested in his take on the subject.
“I don’t like to keep kids like that out of the lineup. They need to play; that’s how they’re going to get better.” Jacques Martin
Oh so did Neimi win that cup too? It’s funny – no one gives Gill props for winning that cup but Fluery sure as heck won it right?
Sorry but put him in a leafs or sens jersey and let’s see how his numbers are.
Where in my original comment did I mention books?
“I don’t like to keep kids like that out of the lineup. They need to play; that’s how they’re going to get better.” Jacques Martin
Oh please!
“I don’t like to keep kids like that out of the lineup. They need to play; that’s how they’re going to get better.” Jacques Martin
It’s easy when you’re on Mount Pious.
I agree.
And you are boring.
“I don’t like to keep kids like that out of the lineup. They need to play; that’s how they’re going to get better.” Jacques Martin

***Subbang!!!***
Oh please. The habs lost the game on no discipline.
Oh please what? He speaks the truth!
“I don’t know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.”
- Bilbo Baggins
So using this logic, doesn’t this make the Canadiens play harder next time they play the Pens?
So the Pens being eliminated by the Habs and losing 4 straight doesn’t motivate but a B-Boy pose does?
It was weak considering how shit Fleury has been against the Habs over the his career.
Yes, Fleury sucked last play-offs. But does he have a cup ring? Absolutely.
Who sucked worse this game? After the officials Price let in a couple of softies. So your point is?
Thanks for a reasonable response to my post, without bringing needless acrimony to it.
The fact you agree with me makes it more sweet.

Agreed…back to backs really suck…they league needs to figure out a better scheduling system…an issue ofr hte GM’s meetings or the Owners meetings.
Back to backs are only really competitively fair if both teams involved in the second game played the night before.
No… obviously Hamr and Spacek are too old to be useful.
Anyone who’s ever played at any competitive level know that more often than not Hamr and Spacek are solid.
Spacek was beast last night. A critical blocked shot; sprinting for the icing touch up; clearing a puck from Auld’s goal line; and the goal, the boys are scratching out these last few games with defense.
Great link. I’m glad otheres are taking notice of what many take for granted.
Look at #26!!
why is Lidstrom on that list…
he’s not a defensive dman.. he is offensive..

Well, that wasnt a terrible run. What a mess of a game tonight though.

I hope those arseholes in black and white are proud of themselves.
Go Habs Go!
Eric F. Furlatt and Justin F. St. Pierre. six straight penalties for the canadiens. once again, the refs are screwing over the habs
I agree pull him. If Price hadn’t played that puck it would have been cleared.
Mmh. No “Big Bob” pose tonight, huh, Carey?
He’ll do one later… just for you.
Centre Hice: Bruins to unveil new look vs. Habs
I really don’t understand why you seem to hate every single players on this team. Are you even a fan?
After the game in front of the mirror. He’s still the best goalie this team has seen since Roy.
never scores, lazy, nonchalant.
more importantly, 1 goal in 20 games.
and when will that be?
when hell freezes over?
So in a year when he scores 30 goals, we will have a trade to complain about.
Exactly. Blows my mind.
anyone blaming lack of discipline is a moron. maybe it is a problem for a couple of calls, but Hammer was pushed into Price on the one goal, and hookings are being called without any hooking (Wiz) going on and slashing with no real contact (Pouliot). The Refs are having a BAD night and it is kiiiillling us. you can’t win 6 on 8. We never had a chance tonight the way the whistles have gone.
excuses are for losers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tired players means more penalties taken and tired penalty killers. No pressure on the PK. We’ll come back strong against the Rangers. No worries.
“These head movies make my eyes rain” -Simple Jack
I got AK at under 64.5 pts, with Triple X and Tom Nickle.
Gorges isn’t too far down the list either. It’s the system.
“I don’t know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.”

6 unanswered penalties against the Habs, say what you will but this happens everytime we play the Pens, almost as if Bettman is right behind the Pens bench. The NHL knows how to slow the momentum of the Habs, you just witnessed it again!
Spacek sees invisible teammates.
I would expect an influx of trollishness this evening. A loss always brings them out.

So really the only high point of tonight’s game will be Desharnais’ first NHL goal.
Maybe TX will make another boneheaded comment about your Tolkien quote. Of course, just the mention of his name…
***Subbang!!!***
Hey dude, how’s it going? Where were you the last three games?
When do the Habs get the “courtesy” call? I sense a chintzy assed Vince McMahon inspired total piece of crap call coming up from Fartass and St. Queer Air in 30 seconds.
Are you watching this game? The penalties are deserved. Such a dumb theory that Bettman has anything to do with the refs against the Habs. We are playing like crap, and are undisciplined. We are getting a well deserved beating.
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
You cant score when you are always a man down. And it disrupts the flow for the few moments we are at even strength.
Anyone else hoping Wiz kicks the crap out of Matt Cooke?
I miss Picard.
Spacek is so old he can see the ghosts of the Forum.
This is my fault guys, i’ve been watching on TSN rather than RDS. I think it’s too late to switch.
That and the 18 penalty’s.
Hard to score when your always a man down! Watch the game…actually watch it!
Wrong.
Wiz never hooked, and Hammer was pushed into Price, and at least two of Pouliots weren’t calls.
The Pouliot penalty was legit? Get better HD and you can see things better!
I miss the Habs having NHL Defencemen, not AHL ones myself.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
Think about it and get back to me.
***Subbang!!!***

F off TSN
Hahah, listen to that dong Ferraro crow “it’s amazing how humbling a game can be”…stfu jackass.

Hey AK is on the ice. Talk about no value for a trade.
Right now Boston wouldn’t even trade Savard for AK46…. SAD
It’s easy when you’re on Mount Pious.

As a broadcaster he’s less than that. He’s a f’n idiot.
For mocking Price’s pose after having one of the easiest nights of his season.

I cringed when Carey did it last week. It wasn’t aimed at the Pens but they don’t see it that way and you never give the opposition fodder.
- In Price We Trust
I think only a few people on here actually watch the games. Others just look at numbers or go with whatever they hear other people saying
hahaha
man your sensitive.
It’s ok when he does it but ohhhh no, someone dissed him back.
Price will learn, whenyou hot dog it, it bites you back. Remember Roy vs Red Wings ?
It’s easy when you’re on Mount Pious.
So then why are players allowed to celebrate after a goal by jumping into the glass, but when a goalie makes the game-winning save it’s called ‘giving the opposition fodder’?
Centre Hice: Bruins to unveil new look vs. Habs
I thought Eller had a strong game myself.
Not sensitive, just wondering about the motives. Price had reason to hotdog after making a game winning save. Fleury was just thumbing his nose at him.
Centre Hice: Bruins to unveil new look vs. Habs
right, you may dislike him but don’t dislike his payback.
It’s easy when you’re on Mount Pious.
- In Price We Trust
Hey, if he had made a massive save to seal the victory, then I’d say go for it. But he had one of his easiest games of the season, so it came across as childish rather than celebratory. He should have saved it for a moment that really deserved it.
Centre Hice: Bruins to unveil new look vs. Habs
I saw some pretty weak F. calls. 2 mins for touching a guy’s gloves with your stick? Pffffft. I’m used to it by now.
And there it is.

Anglo Hab supporters want to see Francophone players, it is part of the espirit of the team.
HOWEVER don’t want it to be just because they are.
Too many men on the ice. Dumb penalty.
I have trouble accepting that Hammer has less than one hit per game. I know he’s not as physical as he used to be, but I think the scorekeepers have been shortchanging him.
Chintzy too many men call, players weren’t even engaged in the play.
2 many. Ah crap.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
Can’t these guys count?
Centre Hice: Bruins to unveil new look vs. Habs
Price is earning his bacon.
Someone was way early, but Gomez was taking his sweet time getting back to the bench.
How that isn’t called on Pleks I have no clue.
no call???? are you kidding me?
What a ridiculously stupid giveaway.
SEING THE POCKET ROCKET SIGN FOR THE FANS IS PRICELESS…..

I must be paranoid but everytime we play the Pens… the calls… is always a story in itself.
So I guess when Boone said that the Staal-Cooke-Kennedy line would be dangerous, he was right.
That’s a killer, especially at the end of the period.
GODDAMN LATE GOALS!!!!! F*CK!!!!
We are giving it to them.

Price too deep there.

How many times does this happen in the dying seconds of a period? Just brutal.
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
What a HORRIBLE goal. Price was WEAK!!!! He played well since the beginning of the game but that was… that was… disgusting.
These late period goals are killers.
F’n sheit!
Not at all. Ferraro doesn’t have a clue about goaltending. Price wasn’t set for a shot because Spacek just pulled a Komisarek to Staal in the slot.
Get real. Price should have stopped it. Just like the last one.
not being ready during a PK?
ugh id ont buy that
——————
88 is the new 23
Price was too deep in his net there, but to be fair – I didn’t expect Spacek to make a sweet pass to Staal either.
I blame both.
http://www.gifsoup.com/view/400309/boudreau-o.gif
Of course not. But dude… it’s twice tonight Price gets caught. He’s the only player who was fresh before that game!!!
When your player has the puck, and time, you expect a clear, not a pass to a player in the shot.
Not ready??? Dude, that’s the weakest excuse ever!
Lol
why not?
Trade AK to the Sens for Cris Neil..
Thats all we need, a guy who routinely takes penalties.
Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.
Yes, I am sure Ottawa would relish adding another Russian underachiever….

Why are we trading AK exactly?
I will watch it.
Nice pass Jarosarek
WTF!!!! So running the goalie over is okay??? WTF is that?
Dreaded last-minute goal, on the PP no less. And weak.

An important announcement from the Government of Canada:

That’s all fine and dandy, but the guy showed he can score between 20 and 30 goals in a full season, is a big body, and still has potential. You can dismiss it all you like, but potential is an attribute GM’s take into consideration.
If we traded him midway through the season for as little as Chris Neil, I’d be pretty disappointed.
He scored more then 20 goals 3 times in his pro career… and that includes the AHL…
——
Canadien en 5! Never go Full Retard http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svwGRJA28lY&feature=related

Why don’t ya try to pick apart my words a little less, and try to comprehend my main point a little more. It might be difficult, but give it a shot.
The Habs would never trade Andrei Kostitsyn for Chris Neil. Ottawa would make that trade in a heartbeat considering there scoring woes.
There. I laid it out for you nice and simple.
I’m not going to start debating about stats, but how many of those years were full seasons?
If you can’t see his goal scoring ability (potential), then I suppose you are correct because stats don’t lie, right?

Staal – 214 goals
Horton – 154 goals
Zherdev – 112 goals
Vanek – 188 goals
Michalek – 121 goals
Carter – 161 goals
Brown – 130 goals
Bernier – 75 goals
Parise – 163 goals
Fehr – 44 goals
Getzlaf – 120 goals
Pouliot – 21 goals
Kesler – 114 goals
Richards – 124 goals
Perry – 139 goals
Andrei Kostitsyn – 77 goals
Now, goals aren’t everything but when you take a look at the guys taken in that first round, look how many of them also have a letter on the front of their jersey or a Cup to their name, and contribute to their teams in many ways in addition to their offensive output. That is realized potential, and for players that were drafted 7.5 years ago, that’s where they should all be at.
Go Habs Go!
See my post above concerning Kostitsyn’s NHL seasonal goal output. Frankly, to view Kostitsyn’s performance as anything other than regression and decline is to be, with all due respect, willfully ignorant.

An important announcement from the Government of Canada:

You responded directly to a post which suggested the 1 for 1 trade and said Ottawa wouldn’t want Kostitsyn.
Forgive me for making a simple assumption that you were referring to the trade suggested in the post you responded to.
Does Montreal lead the league in last second goals against?
God that was a horrible goal.
Beyond pathetic. No offence, on PP, crappy D. If Price has an ordinary game this team is screwed.
Habs must have the most useless top 5 forwards in the league. Every single one of them is an overpaid shameless bum who just wastes air and nothing else.
we don’t have 5 useless forwards.
we have 9 useless forwards!
There’s the Timo we all love.
Hey, at least none are as useless or over-paid as Kovalchuk.
I’m actually confident that we can come back and win this. This team is not a fantastic team. We’re outscoring ‘em 5-on-5. If we can stay out of the box and produce some sustained pressure and rushes like we did in the middle of the 2nd, we’ve got a damn good shot.
Okay, but the Habs cannot stay out of the box. Always playing defense will do that to you.
Full Breezer 4 Life
bad luck for jaro..
but that was weaaaaak by Price..
both kennedy’s and staal’s goals where very stoppable
——————
88 is the new 23
Define weak, he had absolutely zero time to react.
Twice on the short side. That’s (at least) one too many.
Me thinks Price should have had that one. When Stool scores on u, you know u fu^&ed up……
Up to twenty inches of “Fluery’s” here 30 miles North of Boston.
27 inches here just outside New Haven. Perfect weather to sit inside and watch a game.
why the f*ck is this bone head changing his good lines.
typical JM.Has to be discouraging for the players. Here we go again.
Actually, I loved the Fleury mock pose. Next game will be verrry interesting.
Could you imagine if Crybaby was playing, geese………
Shoulda started Auld. Price is kinda stumpy tonight!
Halak! we need you.
Price sure sucked on that one.
Muller and Pearn need to watch too
He’s been amazing. Could easily be 8-2.
That 3rd goal was JM’s fault.
If JM wore suits made out of upholstery, he’d be Don Cherry!
Not the point at all. Could be 8-2, it’s 3-2 at 11 seconds before the end of the period on a weak goal.
Are you serious lol? You really a d1ckrider.
Price has got to stop giving the world ammunition ,
everybody was talking about his little antic, B Boy pose BS
will he ever learn?
Habs will still pull this one out though,
Once again the Refs refuse to call a penalty against the other team. There should have been a call for the grab on Pleks no call. Once again the refs are afraid to make a call they know they will get the phone call this is killing this team. The refs just snink of Favoritism .
Yep that’s the word I was looking for. The Pens’ goals have been amazing!
What the hell was JM doing with the lines…the bench was a mess, no wonder they took a too many men penalty. No one probably had a clue what line they were supposed to be on.
Last goal was awful. Price can be so good, but theres alwaaays a soft one.
Late-eriod goal against, again. This team better have a 3rd-period comeback in them, this is getting ugly.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
Go away troll
And JM put too many men on the ice and Spacek gave the puck to staal. I understand the emotion, but can’t solely blame Price on that one…
Subban was brutal in NY and is awful tonight.
I guess Martin is giving him too much ice time? Martin is building too much confidence in PK I guess?
Ya morons, Martin is a brilliant coach!
didn’t know JM was a goalie.
Screw them, GWG celebrations can be over the top but goalies aren’t allowed to be smug on a SO win? Please.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
In the end, the goalie needs to stop the freaking puck!!! this was an LHJMQ quality shot.
Halak woulda been pulled by now.
Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.
I’m not sure if i’ve ever seen an NHL coach grab sweaters to stop a “too many men” call.
Clearly that is why he was amazing all game and gave up that one week goal all game….
There was absolutely nothing wrong with what he did, he was having a little fun or is it wrong to have fun, some people are so anal
The System will make its presence known in the third. The first sign will be a massive gelling of the Eller line resulting in him getting a holding penalty 200 ft from the Habs net.
this is the type of game gion,ak46,gomez are paid to produce in …when the pk vs pp is minus 2 you usually dont win..one period to turn it around…ak46 …ah forget it there is nothing to say about him…
LOL wth
I don’t know what game that guys watching

hmm..the only time i really noticed him was when he got the assist on DD’s goal. Has he actually been that bad?
2 softies. check the 2nd goal.
I must say, I’m not too optimistic after a tough game last night. But my man DD is there… if only JM plays him more than 3 shifts in the third.
If we come back, then we’ve got bigger cojones than I thought…
Hey, did you do us proud last night?
***Subbang!!!***
he actually was a goalie
scavengers that developed a taste for price the last couple years.
unfortunately for them , there’re few scraps to pick at this year, so when one falls, they pounce on it out of starvation.
so be kind to the poor creatures.
It was a weak goal, but to be fair he was surprised by Spacek suddenly turning into a Penguin. It was a 6 on 3 there, cut him some slack!
Besides, goaltending is hardly the Habs problem. How about:
1) constantly take soft penalties
2) play a questionable defensive style that stifles offensive creativity
3) zero line consistency
4) no go-to guy on offense (not that JM allows offense)
If the Habs ever start scoring goals, I’ll start worrying about the goaltending.
Full Breezer 4 Life
Goddamnit, we got Spacek for another year. What did I do to deserve this?
No, Subbans had a very good game. If the refs were paying attention he would have drawn a few hooking penalties by now.
With a milisecond time to react.
Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.
Guess they’ve gotta come back yet again. Well at least they’ve had lots of practice at it recently.
The trolls post got pulled
As an aside, the question begs to be asked — What’s up with Washington? Losing 0-3 to Tampa Bay and even letting Simon Gagné score… Are they really after Boudreau’s head and if so, why hasn’t it been handed to them on a platter yet?
And…..the trolls are out in full force.
Besides Timo – he’s cool.
Subban is so bad he makes Brisebois look good.
Great seats! Twenty rows behind the net the Habs shot on twice. Actually saw the twine bulge on Pouliot’s winner. I was surprised how many Habs fans were at MSG last night.
Wow, dive!
If being bitter and negative about everything Habs-related is cool, sure.
Without him, it’s 3-1. Without Spacek, it’s 2-2. Who should we really be complaining about folks?
W- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
leafs played their 4th game in six and the night before they played ans vs a rested san jose team scored 4 goals in the third..cannot use last night bas an excuse
Let’s hope for the best – Allons-y!
?
PK has played a pretty good game.

F’in eh, man. Good for you. Glad you got to see a W there.
***Subbang!!!***
Dinner at Keen’s Chop House and a win by the Habs, the only fly in the ointment was the drive home in the storm.
it was a f******* dive
Ouch! Payback by Fleury. That hurts.
when guys score goals they pump fists, jump into the glass, etc, yet when price celebrates its the end of the world. it was an unbalanced, disorganized, ugly game made uglier by flurry’s little insult – i just hope they play it in the room before the next Pitt game.
nice job hamr taking the puck away from price, only to give it away.
I knew I always liked Mike Johnson.
Go Habs Go!
That was funny what Fleury did, but come on, who beat the defending Cup champs in game #7 on home ice?
Right on Fleury, I liked it, but coming from you…not the same feeling as from the “Thoroughbred”. I still laughed though.
It’s too bad Cammi is still sick, Fleury is his beeotch
Goalies in Montreal have two roles, netminder and scapegoat.
Karma’s a bitch. As much as this loss blows….gotta admit, that was kinda funny.
Peeeeeeuw! What a stinker!
Late period goals come back again!
Can’t say the officiating was suberb or even mediocre.
Lots of diving with black shirts on!
Price making the difficult saves but getting beat on two to the short side ……

Dear god no.
That’s well and good…is Crosby playing?
Go Habs Go!
Dan Devine: “Nobody, and I mean nobody, comes into our house and embarrasses The System!”
This ones on Price. Don’t showboat.
My thoughts exactly. you’re playing against men, not little kids on the playground.
It’s easy when you’re on Mount Pious.
pens also blew that lead vs boston. waaayyy more motivated.
This one was on a lack of discipline and an inability to hold the momentum after taking the lead. Other than that, you’re kind of close.

Hahaha ok. One pose and the next game is lost? What a fragile team if this is the excuse
Mike Johnson, showing some loyalty to the Habs, sticking up for Price. Love it.
We need a scorer, and the Leafs are going nowhere this season. We should try to pry that Grabovski away from them. A 2nd rounder should do it, right? LOLZ.

Lol.. thats funny.
Seriously, PG needs to see what Colorado wants for Chris Stewart. I think he’s still out injured and they’re scoring without him..it could be possible..maybe…probably not.. I wish.
Gotta love the humour on this site after a loss.

Only part of the Staal line Habs should fear is that cheap-shot wasteland that is Cooke, Staal is the lesser of the three brothers in the NHL and who cares who Tyler Kennedy is?

Serious, Kennedy has a rocket of a shot, and you would looooooove to have Staal as a Hab. I know I would.

It’s snowning down pretty good here in Freddy Beach. Hope the boys don’t run out of gas in the third, not much rest. GO HABS GO!!!
A PP already? What?
Patches is getting good at drawing penalties.
I hate that call on Goligoski.
weak call, but Max Pac draws a lot of penalties, which is good
And another pissed away powerplay.

personally, I’m not a big fan of early PP’s. Tough to get into a good rhythm that early.

Price is on Fire right now. Pittsburgh is all the Habs in their zone.
That was quite possibly the worst power play in the history of the sport
nice saves CP31!!

Who else has been impressed with Pacioretty since he got called up this year? Granted, I’m biased because I have a Pacioretty jersey, so of course I think he’s done pretty well haha.
Nice give-and-go by Pouliot and Pleks.
This penalty thing is going to come back at us in the third period, especially if we have a lead.

Hammer got tangled up with the ref.
Maybe it’s different without 87 in the lineup?
Forwards terrible on the backcheck there. 4 on 2???
Top glove.
Nice shot.
That was totally a penalty. Gio gets hooked down, which gives the pens a 4 on 2. I know we’ve already had 2 pp’s, but that doesn’t mean they can ignore other penalties.
Doubt it, they’re the most penalized team in the NHL.
What I was going to say, that ref couldn’t have tried harder to interfere on that play.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
can’t give pens 3 penalties in a row now
EDIT: woo yea way to break out of that slump plecky!
They aren’t over that yet? There was no kick!
ok you’re right. The second worst powerplay in the history of the sport !
No reason to complain. Hardly a fault with Price’s glove. No one stops that one.
Centre Hice: Bruins to unveil new look vs. Habs
Plenty of NHL players have “rockets” for a shot, accuracy counts. Look at AK, and Staal is horrendously overrated, no playmaker’s vision and 20-goal scoring is not a unique skill set.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
Meh, getting Jordan Staal wouldn’t exactly excite me. He’s not an upgrade on Gomez or Plekanec.
Staal brings a lot more to the table than that. But I definitely appreciate your red-white-blue goggles.
I’ll take Eric Staal! Hes amazing, Jordan is a pretty good hockey player…but I just dont like him for some reason, he looks like a dinosaur, maybe thats why?

the team is killing a penalty, the puck is deep in the zone and Price wasn’t ready?

Exactly.
ya price is bound to look bad on that one.
the goalie’s gotta keep his skate on the post when the puck’s in the corner, so when spacho gives staal a one-time pass from the corner, the goalie wont have time to pull his skate off the post to go into a full butterfly.
It was on the half boards, in Spacek’s possession and he had time. Yes, every goalie on the entire planet would expect a clearing attempt by Spacek, not a pass into the slot. This debate is ridiculous since Price has been phenomenal all game and the team has been utterly incompetent.
hey, u gotta expect the unexpected…especially with these guys lol
that’s why pouliot scored on lunqvist last night.
hopefully.. the habs come back and this convo will be moot..
either way.. bad combination of plays

What a shot, wasted PP’s pissed away any chance at momentum
Oh yeah, and that is how you answer.

Pretty play!!!! and a good answer.
LOL! What was that 12 seconds?

Great pushback! Now don’t give us any more PPs.
Someone should make a Conservative Party attack ad entitled “Yannick Weber: Not an NHL defenseman.”
That’s why he’s a +2 the last two games against Eastern Conference contenders?
I hope AK46 pots one tonight.
When he’s on, man is he ever on. Been too cold for a while now.
Anybody in the US know why the game is not on NHL Center Ice? DirecTV customer service is a joke……….anybody?

AK46 needs more SPACE. If he was on the same line with a huge dangerous center that could draw all the attention from him, he’d be unstoppable. The dump n chase just isn’t his style.

MAB would have made a futile swipe at the puck, missed horribly, and Letang would have went in alone to either score, or be stopped in spectacular fashion by Price.

I was even forced to comment, myself.
Seemed that way to me as well.
If Wiz was from Quebec he would praise Gauthier for the acquisition to no end.
Rudy and everyone else. I have good news………… The game is on on Directv. Thank you for making it happen. I know it was you guys…………..
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
Does anyone have a link to a live stream for tonight’s game – I live in NYC. Thanks.

Pens looking dangerous and due to break out. Habs are tired, no doubt, hope they can find a second wind somewhere.

LOL. Yeah, cause one f-up a game was all MAB ever had. Right…
Truly refreshing to hear Cuthbert rather than Cole or Hughson
Yeah! DESHARNAIS!
GOALLLLLLLLLLL
You will always be a Canadien in my eyes, Saku
WOOOOO!
Big one for Desharnais, get the puck!
YEAH DAVID!!!! Awesome tip for his first NHL goal!!
Nice things happen when you throw it on net.
You were saying?
You will always be a Canadien in my eyes, Saku
It’s Bill’s new reverse-jinx.
Never heard of him….
______________________________________ Long live Captain Gionta.
Oh boy..
I think he’s a better option then picard.
Bingo – Picard was horrible in the last 15-20 games he played in.
Shades of MAB. Okay – not THAT bad. But you get the point.
+/- is a misleading stat. I see flashes of MAB when he’s in the d-zone.
A stick on the ice is more useful that Picard, a stick might affect an attacker.
Agreed. For every time Weber gets outmuscled down low, Picard gets beaten to the outside 3 times. Plus Weber is actually a prospect so I’d like to see him be given time to improve.
Physical appearance maybe, but Weber doesn’t clear the puck through the crease, he’s a much smarter player.
Either I’m getting used to Webber or he’s getting a little better. Actually I do think he is looking a little more comfortable and he’s doing okay for an undersized rookie D.
And PG traded OB to keep Picard.
I was a big time backer of obyrne and saw him as a 2nd pairing shutdown dman. I’m not surprised by what he is doing with the avs now that he is averaging over 20 minutes a game. I hope the prospect we got in return works out for us.
Seeing that replay? Complete dive.
yup,and they score on it.
Special teams absolutely killing us.
total dive there
Nice dive. And then he has the nerve to act hurt on the bench. Ref bought it, naturally.

That’s just tough luck – he had his glove on it and the puck slid.
Our PK is killing us tonight.
Eric Furlatt needs to get some f***ing glasses. Contact made by Hamrlik? Yeah, because he was PUSHED in by Rupp. Retarded.
Stupid penalties, all deserved.
Well, that’s all she wrote.
Here…they…come!!
PK is nowhere near as effective without Gorges.
Why wasn’t that puck smothered?
This is going to be tough – Habs scoring 4 goals…suddenly seems like a LOT.
Well this game is over…Price sucked on those last 3 goals….gonna need to play better this 2nd half..hope the all-star selection doesn’t go to his head.
Been a Habs fan since I was in 2nd grade and sat behind Patrick Roy at the Aud.

Bullshit!!!
ok, thats a penalty
WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
WHAT THE FACK WAS THAT???
are you kidding me? Players slash each others sticks 100 times a game and he decides to call a penalty on that one?
After the first period the Penguins must have had a chat with the officials, “Hey guys, we’re the Penguins remember? Stop giving us penalties, call a bunch on them instead”
Unf’ingbelievable.
That’s a legit penalty.
We’re gettin’ jobbed here boys!
At least he roofed it. Hey nice shot man.
It’s easy when you’re on Mount Pious.
So Many goalie coaches
hahaha good one.
It’s easy when you’re on Mount Pious.
F*ck that. Go eat a d*ck. No way THAT is a slash after what the pens have gotten away with.
Yawn…
Centre Hice: Bruins to unveil new look vs. Habs
Ferraro: “The Canadiens are seeing first hand what happens when you take too many penalties”
Uhh… pay attention f***wad, the Habs have been the most penalized team in the NHL over the last 2 seasons. We’re used to getting jobbed.
That’s a penalty in Gary Bettman’s NHL folks. I don’t think even the Swedish Elite League would call that a penalty.
The previous penalty on Benny was also a garbage call.
Go Habs Go!
Reverse jinx Boone?
blah, blah, blah, blah
Pk’s gotta get some lessons from a certain Dean Youngblood….
It’s easy when you’re on Mount Pious.
It’s ok…. we had to go down by 2 in order to set us up for the comeback.
Centre Hice: Bruins to unveil new look vs. Habs
And I am so sick of these late period goals, how many this season 10? They are killer backbreaking goals to give up.
Been a Habs fan since I was in 2nd grade and sat behind Patrick Roy at the Aud.
“The home team has had 15 shots in 45 minutes”
Just the way Martin likes it.

…and I love how the retaliation slash wasn’t called.
—Hope Springs Eternal—
I’d love someone on the Habs to shoot the puck right at the referee’s head. Hopefully it would draw blood. Furlatt and St. Pierre are the equivalent of what comes out of my dog’s butt twice a day.
I still can’t believe Rupp is allowed to slam Hamrlik into Price, resulting in a goal, but Benny taps someone and gets an instant penalty.
PK….GIVE UP ON FIGHTING DUDE,LOL
You call that a fight?
***Subbang!!!***
HABNOFEAR….GIVE UP ON THE POSTING DUDE,LOL
NHL officiating, only sport where the frequency and judgement of calls switches from period to period.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. Habs and Hockey.
Subban vs. Semin. You call it fight fans!
Pernell Karl against “Bingo Bango Bongo” Semin? Whoever is able to stay on their feet wins.
i’ve read couple of articles by B.raymond, some of them were meh, some of them were respectable. but this.. im just speechless. How can you compare MAB to the wiz, and to say that they have the same physical element .. are you kidding me. he basically says wiz=mab at a higher price. wow just wow
http://www.rds.ca/canadien/chroniques/313067.html
That’s funny, Wiz keeps it at the blueline and hasn’t cost us games. How is he MAB?
wiz is like 1.5x better than MAB at BEST.
wiz is pretty terrible in his own zone…the 2 things he has over MAB is his wrist shot and he’s willing to use his body.
in fact I think wiz is more like a bryan mccabe lite.
- Gomez is holding down the suck button
Bertrand Raymond is full of s**t. He always believes that MAB is the one and only reason why we made the playoffs last year, and he hasn’t stopped talking up his boy since. Also more BS about Subban’s confidence got destroyed by Jacques Martin. Please.
Yeah… so by extension, because Fleury posed it means that the Habs will win the next game, I guess.
Centre Hice: Bruins to unveil new look vs. Habs
Yep, with arms tied behind their backs right? I mean accoridng to logic displayed here anyway. Funny how Ovechkin, Crosby et al can celebrate to their hearts content.
lol
DESHARNAIS.
WE SHALL ALL EAT CROW.
AND LOVE THE TASTE OF IT.
DD! SOOBIE WITH AN ASSIST.
Someone get that kid the puck!!!!!
Cool! The little guy scores a big goal!
Centre Hice: Bruins to unveil new look vs. Habs

Yeah baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oui! Oui! Oui!
Wee Dee Dee!
“Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!”
That’s a feel-good moment for sure.
congrats DD.
UH OH not good for Eller once Cammi comes back.
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey…
Awesome DD!
***Subbang!!!***
Semin wins on slaps!
